"They say all good boys go to heaven,
But bad boys bring heaven to you."

The drive there ended up being somewhat awkward to say the least, I couldn't help but feel guilty as I sat in Shawn's scratched leather seat.

Grayson, knowingly put me in an awkward situation, Shawn in a way did too, though he didn't know.

When the bad boy and the polar opposite, Shawn, the good boy, are both offering me a ride home what the fudge am I supposed to do.

I sound so millennial.

I was originally leaning towards walking or even calling up Caleb, but I ignored every previous idea I had when Avery came sauntering over, that girl truly is everywhere. She always finds a way to be wherever Grayson is.

I can't believe he's dating her.

Maybe going with Shawn was wrong, Shawn's a good person and I shouldn't have used him in that moment to piss Grayson off.

Ugh, when did my life become so complicated all of a sudden? This time last year, the only form of interaction I'd have with Grayson is when we accidentally bump into each other in the hallway or if he couldn't find something in the kitchen, it was always quiet, awkward muttering between us, our conversations merely didn't exist, nothing like they do now.

Shawn probably had no idea who I was, he assumingly didn't even know my name, the only thing he knew was that I'm Caleb's younger sister, period.

And for Taylor. . .Even her life was somewhat turned into utter chaos, with the whole Blake thing, which I don't believe needs further explanation. Similarly, for Caleb, he's turning eighteen in a matter of months then Emma moves out and it's just me and my brother.

Then after she moves, both me and my brother will be graduating two months after then I'll be off to college, never to see Shawn again and I'll probably only see Grayson when he visits Caleb which will only be once or twice a year.

I can't believe I'm almost finished school and I'm wasting it by getting somewhat harassed by Avery Collins, getting flirted with by Grayson Snow and being liked by Shawn Winters.

Who thought.

Finally, we pulled into the driveway.

I turned to give Shawn an apologetic smile, "I'm sorry,"

He stared at me confused, "For?"

"I kind of used you as a getaway card."

He laughed, releasing his hands from the steering wheel to run them through his curly head of hair, he looked unfazed.

"I know, it took me a minute, but I caught on." He chuckled, "I wanted to spend time with you, even if that means sitting in a car with you for five minutes."

I sighed, trying my hardest not to let out the girliest aww possible.

A change of thoughts happened in a split second, I felt like smacking myself in the face.

Shawn likes me, he's made that more than clear, I told him I liked him, and, in that moment, I was sure I do but somethings holding me back, he's perfect, he's brother friendly. Surprisingly.

There's nothing not to like, he's nice, not problematic. He's Shawn.

But I can't force myself to want someone just because I'm too nice to admit the truth, he's an amazing person but I just want him as a friend.

Come on, Grace, tell him.

You're not this type of girl, your kind and most importantly you're honest, your mother taught you that.

Stop talking in third person, about yourself and speak!

"Listen—"

"Yeah, I know. I'm still being pushy." He laughed at himself.

I shook my head, "No! it's not that, I was just going to say—"

"—That instead of being a nervous wreck, I should ask you out?"

No, this is not going to plan, someone please help.

I wish I had like teleportation superpowers, so I could teleport to the complete other side of the earth or even another planet, preferably one where I can breathe properly and has WI-FI though I doubt that'll happen so maybe Italy, it seems like a lovely place or even Australia, though they have a lot of bugs. I think I'd rather see the Colosseum.

"—That you need to stop cutting me off and listen!" I shouted.

He looked at me with wide eyes, not expecting my sudden outburst.

"Shit, sorry." He apologised, his cheeks tinted with red.

"As I was saying," I paused, "I'm not being fair on you."

He raised an eyebrow, "How so?"

"Because I don't like you." I blurted, instantly slapping my hands over my mouth afterwards.

Wow, you can count on me to make any situation that was even the slightest bit decent, take a turn for the worst in a millisecond.

Someone come give me an award for America's biggest idiot.

Okay, that may be a little bit far-fetched, but I couldn't have said it any harsher, he's just a seventeen year old boy, what if he drives off crying?

"You don't?"

He seemed calm, frighteningly calm.

I shook my head slowly.

"I mean, it's not you I promise! You're amazing, you're a great singer and you're fun to hang out with, I mean you're the pizza delivery guy! Who doesn't love that, I mean I don't but. . ."

Not helping! My subconscious screamed.

". . .I mean, that's not what I mean. Actually, it kind of is what I mean, but what I'm trying to say," I sighed, watching how he stared at me with confusion and a hint of amusement, "You're a good guy Shawn, and I've always thought that, but I think we should just be friends."

You can definitely count on me to end a relationship before it even starts, I should be a meme honestly, someone should quote me, though then I'll be the worlds biggest idiot, not just America.

Caleb would be so proud.

"Grace," he sighed, his voice sounded so fragile.

I looked up at him through my eyelashes.

"I should've known."

I tried to keep my expression neutral, "Should've known what?"

"That you didn't—don't like me. You hinted it a few times, but I just kept trying, wanna know why?" he asked rhetorically, "because I'm pushy."

"No!" I yelled, my voice coming out a lot louder then it was meant to, "No, you're not. Don't turn this around on you."

"We've only hung out a handful of times," he said, "I'm like one of those overly attached girls who fall in love with a guy who sends an 'x' at the end of one message."

I tried to laugh though it was of no use, I couldn't help but throw my head back in laughter, my hair falling back as I did so.

"No, you're not, you're loving."

He smiled, warmly.

"I feel like this is so dramatic," he laughed, "We meet at a party, I took you to a pizza parlour and we sat under a tree well I sung and we're acting like this is a divorce."

I laughed in return, at least he didn't cry.

"So, you're okay?"

He stayed still and quiet for a second before he nodded.

"You're Grace, you're different, you're special," he leant over to stroke my cheek with his fingertips, "You're beautiful,"

I blushed, yeah yeah, I don't like him, but it doesn't mean I won't blush at a compliment.

"And I'd be selfish to keep you to myself."

"Thank you," I said, "But this conversation is getting way too gooey and mushy for my liking."

He laughed, rolling his eyes as he shook his head.

"Well I better get going."

I nodded, opening the door before he ducked his head down so he could see me outside of his truck.

"Friends?"

I nodded, "Friends."

He finally started the engine before reversing out of the driveway and driving off, out of sight.

I was walking up the small steps that led to the sorry excuse of a patio out the front of my house, it was tiny, you couldn't fit more then two people (comfortably) on it and one of the wood slats aren't nailed properly and if you step on it, your foot will go through the flooring.

Guess who found that one out? None other then Caleb, my idiotic brother.

It's also covered in a range of pots, all pushed to the corner away from the door, which are filled with shrivelled up brown plants, they used to be healthy and green, they were mom's, she always had a green thumb.

Obviously, after she died, so did the plants.

That's sadistic.

But true, Caleb and I aren't adult enough to take care of plants, we tried but with half of the plants we didn't water enough and some I think we may have watered too much.

I need a "how to take care of plants for dummies" guide or something, regardless I doubt I'd be able to take care of them, I can't even take care of myself.

I placed my hand on the door knob, about to walk inside and literally sprint to my bed and think about how happy I am that it's Saturday tomorrow when I heard a loud honk of a car.

I think in the moment that stupid horn honked, I jumped six feet in the air and my heart fell out my butt.

I turned around to see the oh-so-familiar shiny black car which is probably more than my house.

As soon as the headlights were turned off, I could see Grayson's irritatingly cute face behind the window.

All I needed to see was the irritating smirk on his face before I turned the door knob and stormed inside and upstairs.

I don't need or want to see him right now.

I opened my door, walking into my average sized room, not wasting any time before kicking my shoes off, across the room and plopping down on my bed.

Knock knock

"Go away, Caleb!"

I grabbed my pillow shoving it over my head when there was yet another knock.

"What is it?" I shouted, getting really irritated.

It went silent for a while, there was no more knocking, not even a voice before I groaned loudly, stomping my way over to the door before swinging the door open.

"What the hell do you—Grayson?" I asked in shock.

He stood there with his hands shoved in his pockets and a goofy smile on his lips.

"What do you want?" I raised an eyebrow.

"I think I owe you an apology."
