"millie? millie, wait!!"
finn yelled after me.
"i can't do this right now, finn. i'm sorry."
oh God, i smelled his familiar cologne scent coming up behind me. he was behind me.
why do you do this to me, finn?
"millie."
finn spun me around to face him.
his face looked genuinely worried.
"where are you going?"
he asked, hand gently resting on the side of my neck.
"since when do you care?"
i growled, trying to turn around and be on my way.
finn grabbed my wrist gently and spun me around again.
"millie, i don't know what i did wrong, but i'm sorry."
his eyes screamed with regret.
"..i'm going to the gas station."
i sighed.
"let me walk you, then. listen, millie, i can't lose you like i almost did."
finn's eyes widened, peering down at me like a lost puppy.
"fine."
my lips weakly upturned into a small smile.
he softly reached for my hand, as to reassure me.
i winced and laced our fingers together, unsure.

IRIS'S pov
i watched as finn hurried out of his bedroom door.
i pursed my lips and ran to the window.
there was millie the slut brown herself. pathetic.
finn was chasing her down, trying to catch her attention.
my finn.
i gave him my body, my time, my everything, when i could be out screwing other guys.
i had sex with him whenever we were alone, just to pleasure him.
just to win his approval.
and what do i get? millie the lying slut getting all of his attention.
figures.
i grabbed my coat that was thrown sloppily on the bedroom floor and ran out of the door.

"...so i told her that there was school on saturday, and she believed me!!"
finn snorted.
"and you got a whole day to yourself, so she wouldn't bother you? finn you evil monster."
millie smiled loudly and slapped finn in the chest.
"what, can you blame me? she's clingy and annoying as FUCK."
finn chuckled.
"i don't blame you, finnie."
millie giggled.
they just walked, and talked, with not a care in the world.
they felt like they were the last souls to ever roam this earth, everything else didn't exist.
millie straddled along beside the tall, messy haired boy until they approached the old, run down gas station.
"God, i missed this. i missed you."
finn turned to face the girl with dimples and cherry lips.
"i missed you too."
millie looked up at him, a sense of comfort overtook her body.
they stood there in front of the aged gas station for what seemed like decades, enjoying the presence of eachother.
finn had galaxies possessing his eyes, as he stared into the eyes of millie, who had deep caverns of mystery overtaking them.
finn raises his pointer finger and poked millie's dimple in her right cheek, as she looked down and giggled.
she jumped up and lept into his arms, giggling as her arms held onto his neck.
"carry me inside, finnie."
"alright."
"finn, do you realize that we haven't insulted eachother in 4 weeks?"
"mhm.."
"why is that?"
"i guess you never really realize how much you need someone until you can't have them. until they're gone."
"aw, finnie."

"what are you gonna get, babydoll?"
finn fake winked and flirtatiously squeezed millie's knee.
she slapped his hand away annoyingly and giggled.
"put me downnnn, finn."
"fine, fine, hold your horses munchkin."
"and finn?"
"yep?"
"don't ever fucking call me that ever again."
"alrighty, shortcake."
"don't call me that either, frogface."
millie laughed loudly and hopped off of finn's back and skipped to the drink isle.
she opened the cooler and was hit with the cold air caressing her cheeks.
a chill sent down her spine. she grabbed the strawberry milk and quickly closed the cooler.
millie ran back to where finn was trying on goofy sunglasses, and snapped a quick picture, giggling the whole time.
he grinned and set a pair on her face as well.
"finn, aren't you getting anything to drink?"
millie cocked her head to one side.
"yeah, of course. gimmie a second. conveniently they ran out."
finn signaled at an employee to come over.
"oh yeah, there should be some in the back room. it's the first door on your left."
the slightly overweight man in his forties with a long ponytail pointed to a hallway that led apparently to the storage room.
finn grabbed millie's hand and started walking to the hallway.
a lightbulb flickered.
millie shuddered, but followed finn with no hesitation.
they entered the room, which had an aroma of mothballs and dust.
there was a large cooler in the back of the dimly lit room, next to the emergency exit that apparently led out into the alley behind the gas station.
finn maneuvered through the stacked newspapers and opened the cooler, searching for his drink.
"ahh, here we are."
he smirked.
"you know that's basically heart failure in a can, right?"
millie snickered at his confidence.
"pure fuel, babe."
finn grinned and reached for the door handle.
it wiggled underneath his firm grip, but it wouldn't open.
locked.
"ahh, just my luck."
finn chuckled.
"trapped in a storeroom inside of a sketchy gas station with your best friend. what could be worse?"
millie shook her head and smiled.
finn winced at those words.
best friends.
he pursed his lips.
"millie, about that. i have something i've been needing to tell you for a long time. 6 years to be exact."
his crooked smile asked millie for her approval.
millie raised her eyebrows, eyes widening, and nodded.
"i lov-"
"and now it's time for a commercial break, we'll be back to the tragic love story in a little while folks."
finn and millie's heads jolted back to face the speaker, who appeared to be standing next to the emergency exit.
"iris?!!"
"r-rome-... jac- j- jacob.."
"in the flesh."
