“Click pop pop hiss zoom” and the world grew itself into existence. Trees sprouting and snow falling in an endless loop I stood at the edge of town with my dear old father once again telling me the tradition of our family. Once a man is old enough to wed he must embark on a journey to The Dark Mountain and bring back an item of noticeable value, and today is my time to fulfill this ritual of manhood. Leaving with only a pack and a potion inside. This peculiar glowing pink elixir cast a small shimmer from out of my bag as I embarked on my journey. “Beep Beep Hmm Beep Boop Hmm” My walking music not only tuned to the steps I took but the melody to my situation at hand. The trail I followed many times before had much more purpose now, the path brought back sepia laden memories as I past childhood landmarks. The hill, The stump, The pink house, The bird face man in the trench coat. All things that never moved and told me where to go if I ever strayed too far from the path. Not to mention that no matter where you stood in the land you could always see the dark mountain, a constant towering reminder of my duty to the village.
