"Come on, Y/N, you're stronger than this." Gamora whispered, grabbing your hand tightly. You struggled to keep your eyes open, blinking lazily in the direction of your girlfriend. "Please, just say awake for me." She continued. You nodded almost unnoticeably, licking your lips while doing so.
Your mouth felt dry, and all you wanted to do was close your eyes and go to sleep. There was a warm feeling coming from your side, and you didn't know whether it was from a wound or Gamora sitting so close to you. Either way, it felt strange.

It didn't cross your mind that night that you could have died. In the moment, you just thought that you were feeling a bit sickly and tried. You had sustained a gunshot wound to your side- one that was eventually extracted by doctors once you were stable and safe. You had also broken your left wrist when you fell. You didn't feel any of this when you were down; the adrenaline was still thriving in your body. It was a miracle that you survived. Most of that credit goes to Gamora.
If it wasn't for her, you would have drifted away into sleep, eventually dying. She kept you comfortable and awake, holding back the streams of tears that fell once you were away and safe. She is the reason for your living in more ways than one. She kept you mentally sane and alive, and now physically too.
She was the love of your life.
