Its January and I am not so happy that a whole month is dedicated to prematures in the state of California, if your premature and in Beacon Hills High or Elementry School they give you this special shirt that says 'I'm Premature and Proud.' on the back which that sucks and whoever though of the saying I am gonna punch them in the face. Then has a check list with symptoms and side effects of medicine. I hate P.A.M. a lot.
"Happy Premature Awareness Month!" Charlie said as he passed my room and threw a water balloon at me.
"Asshole."
"So what." He said coming back
"He got you too huh?" Xavier said as he walked in soaking wet holding two water guns in each hand
"Yes. Yes he did." I said as I pulled out my two jumbo party string spraycans out
"These water guns are filled with dye." He said smiling.
"Let's get him." I said as we walked downstairs and Charlie was standing at the fridge.
"Hey Charlie."
"H-" Charlie said as we cut him off by spraying him with dye and silly string.
"Gotcha." Xavier said with a smirk
"Wow, I wasn't expecting that. I got your shirts." He said throwing us orange, purple, green, red, and blue shirts there were two of each. Dad came downstairs.
"I got the sharpie." Dad said as we opened up our shirts. Dad checked sesiurzes, black outs on both, the on medicine he check epi pens, and eyes drops.
I put on my purple one, my black jeans and my purple vans. Xavier put on his green one, with his blue jeans and his green converse.
"See you later Carter."
"You mean, see you in a couple of months." Carter said
"What?"
"I'm leaving again." He said
"Ok." I said as I hugged him.
"I'll miss you the most." He said
"Why is that?"
"One, your my twin, and two I guess you risked your life for me when you were concived." He said as he kissed my forehead
"Ok, I can make an exception, but you owe me when you come back." I said as we chuckled
"Ok, see you soon."
Later at School. . . .
"Hey, there is my favorite person in the whole world." Troy said
"Hey."
"You okay? You seem a bit down." He said
"I hate this month and if you have read my shirt."
"Right. Sorry, I've been distracted." He said
"What have you been doing?"
"Well for starters homework, studying and you." He said as he smiled. I blushed and closed my locker and kissed him.
"Well, I guess we should get to class."
"Yeah." He said as he held my hand.
Later In Class. . .
Coach's Class was first. Which I have regrets on going to anyway.
"Ok, instead of a lesson. How about we hear some life stories and lessons?" Coach said as we all groaned in annoyance and Charlie raised his hand. "Yes, Henderson number 5."
"Ummm..... why do we have to?" Charlie asked
"Yes. Not to mention it P.A.M." Coach said as Isaac raised his hand "Yes Lahey."
"What is P.A.M.?" Isaac asked.
"P.A.M is Premature Awareness Month." Coach said "If none of you raise your hand, I'll pick someone." Then Greenberg raised his hand. "Greenberg put your hand down. I pick..." Please don't pick me."Henderson." Coach said as each of us looked at each other.
"Be more specific." Elena pointed out.
"Emma." Coach said as I walked towards the front of the class. "You may proceed."
"Yes thank you coach, I am premature by 8 weeks." I said as most of the class was shocked even Greenberg. Which suprised me. "My birthday would have been November 4th and I only have half a spine, but don't worry the rest is made of metal and I was in the I.C.U. for at least 4 days as a baby."
"Wow, and who knew you would be female lacrosse player of the year." Coach said as he handed me a plaque.
"Thanks."
"Take what Emma just said and add that plaque. Underdogs rise to the top. Xavier your next." Coach said
"Ok, I am premature by 4 weeks, I would have had Emma's birthday, but I was born August 12th and don't worry Emma is still older that me by a year. I would have had vision imparement, but I had surgery when I was 3 so now I can seen and I was in the I.C.U for at least 2 days." Xavier said
"Wow and again I say Underdogs rise to the top." Coach said
Free period. . .
I sat in the gym alone and no I am not going through depression. I just don't wanna answer questions.
"Hey." Troy said walking through the doors."
"Hey." I said as he hugged me.
"You were brave to tell us." He said
"I know."
"Your okay, right?" He asked
"I am Ok, thanks." I said as I walk toward half court of the gym. Then I guess I blacked out.
(Troy's P.O.V.)
Emma was starting blankly, which her parents reminded me what that meant. She was having a sesiurze. She started shaking and I got on my knees, put her on her side.
"Emma. I love you. " I said and it a instant she s just stopped.
(Back to Emma's P.O.V.)
I sat up and and inhaled and Troy hugged me.
"Don't do that." He said
"I wish I could control that, but the quarter rarely lands in my favor."
"Metaphor?" He asked as a smile grew on his face and stood up and held out a hand
"Yeah." I said as I put my hand in is and he helped me up.
"Its cute." He said as I blushed
"Shut up." I said as he chuckled.
Later at home . . . .
"Hey Emma. Where hosting a basketball game fundraiser for a premature charity that you and Xavier were in since you were 2 and he was 1." Dad said
"Ok, when and where?"
"Tonight and At the school." Mom said
"What? Your kidding, right?"
"No." Dad said
"Por qué papi, Por qué"
"Don't give me the why in spainsh. I tried that when I was your age, I still didn't get that bike." Dad said
"Ugh! Fine, but I am not going."
"Yes you are." Mom said
"But...."
"But nothing Emma Neylan Henderson." Dad said
"Fine."
"Thank You and your doing free throws. Suprise" Mom said
"I agreed to go and now you want me to do free throws. Ok let me think..."
"Fine $20 bucks." Dad said as I raised an eyebrow
"James!" Mom said in shock
"I know my kid." Dad said
"Triple the amount and a gold G-Shock or No deal"
"How about...." Dad said
"How about I tell everyone I broke my wrist because I stuck my arm in a small hole to pull you wedding ring out."
"Fine. This is how I know your my child, I used to do that to my dad." Dad said as he gave me fifty bucks.
"Add ten bucks and I'll shoot the ball from the other side of the court backwards."
"Here." Dad said with a smile and gave me ten extra bucks
"Thank You Dad."
Later at school . . . .
I'm glad I came. Troy never told me he was on the Beacon Hills basketball team. Coach blew the whistle.
"Emma its time for that sixty bucks to pay off." Dad said as he gave me the ball. I walked to the other side of the court and I shot it and turned around and Coach passed it back and I motioned Xavier over towards me and he put a blind fold on me and spun me around three times. I threw it and it went it the basket. Everyone cheered and we won. Star shaped confetti fell from the ceiling.
"We have reach the limit thanks to everyone and an mystery donor." Greenberg said, I am suprised they let Greenberg do anything
"You did it." Troy said.
"You didn't tell me that you were on the team."
"I want to suprise you and you didn't tell me your middle name was Neylan." He said
"Yeah. I don't know the story behind that." I said as he chuckled
"I love you." He said
"I love you too." I said and I kissed his cheek
"How about one on the lips?" He asked
"Ok." I said and I kissed him and he kissed me back and pulled me closer to him. "We are still in the gym."
"I forgot where we were for a minute." He said
"Come on." I said as I filled the spaces of his fingers with mines. He smiled.
I had fun. So the quarter landed in my favor just now. Let's see what tomorrow holds.....
