Present Day
Luigi was wrapping up the story.
Luigi: So after Toadsworth wiped Mario and Meggy's identities in each others minds, and trapped Meggy in the paint can, the friendship, and, in the last few days, relationship, of Mario and Meggy was over, until one day in July of 2017 where Mario and Meggy met for the first time in many, many years, and we all knew the rest. The end.
Mario: Wow. Those were a ton of great memories.
Meggy: I'm sorry for being a little rough with you when we met in 2017. I just forgot about you even existing.
Mario: Well, when I met you again, with your existence wiped from my mind, I wanted to be friends with you. And here we are now. We were just told our lost history of us as friends for 15 whole years. What a small world we live in.
Meggy: This will take our relationship in a whole new direction.
Mario: I am ready, recently-found-out 15-years-straight best friend in the world. Or should I say as always, Meggy.
Toadsworth was arriving home from the castle.
Toadsworth: Hello, everybody. What's new?
Everyone's angry eyes were on Toadsworth.
Toadsworth: What's everyone looking at me for?
Meggy (very angry): You...
Toadsworth: I just shit my pants.
Meggy: If you haven't stepped in and erased Mario from my mind and me from his, then we would've been friends for many, many more years.
Meggy then shot Toadsworth out the window, knocking him out.
Luigi: Okay. Now that that's over with, we wish you two the best of luck an... oh crap. I just forgot about something.
Bob: DaMn It. ThIs StOrY wIlL tAkE fOrEvEr.
Luigi: Shut up, Bob. This isn't an expansion on the story. You're wondering where the photo came from.
SMG4: Yeah. What's up with that?
Luigi: I accidentally put the photo into the regular photo album. And for where the photo came from? This is something I kept secret every time we move into a new house, Mario. I'm gonna run to my house, and when I get back, what I'll bring here will surprise you all.
Luigi ran to the house and went down to the basement. He removed a brick from a wall, picked up a key, and used the key to open a very secure safe. Inside the safe was the only box containing memories of Mario and Meggy as children. There were video tapes, a huge photo book, and their friendship bracelets.
Luigi took the box, along with a tape player, because the castle doesn't have that because it was outdated, to the castle.
Luigi: Everybody! What I have here is a box containing all kinds of memories showing Mario and Meggy as children.
SMG4: HOLY SHIT!
Fishy Boopkins: Wow!
Bob: HoLy CrAp!
Toad: Woah!
Bowser: Oh my god!
Steve: Well now.
Shroomy: That's so cool!
Saiko: Meh.
Tari: *gasp*
Mario and Meggy: *shaking*
Luigi: Mario? Meggy? You okay?
A few seconds after Luigi said that, Mario and Meggy were running to that box in an instant.
Mario: IT'S THE BOX YOU MENTIONED! WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS?
Luigi: Toadsworth was gonna destroy this box, so I kept it away from him along with everybody else. I thought that after telling that story, it would be a good time to give this box to both of you.
Meggy: This is like a dream come true! How could we ever thank you, Luigi.
Luigi: No need to thank me, guys. I'm the only person who knew and had tons of concrete evidence of this friendship. I also brought a tape player for you two so you can watch these tapes anytime.
Meggy: Let's watch some right now.
Mario: Great idea!
SMG4: We'll watch one tape and then we're done. I have important videos to make.
Luigi set up the tape player and put in the tape of Mario and Meggy meeting for the first time.
Mario and Meggy were stunned seeing themselves together as children.
Mario (young): So... what's with those... things beside you.
Meggy (young): Those are tentacles. I come from a place you aren't familiar with.
Mario (young): Another world? You kinda look like a squid. Do you come from Bikini Bottom?
Meggy (young): (laughs) You're funny. Wanna be friends?
Mario (young): Sure, Meggy.
Almost everybody watching this was stunned.
Fishy Boopkins: So everything Luigi told us was true after all.
Tari: That's so amazing!
Mario: I cannot believe it.
Meggy: So this is how it all started.
Mario: What else is in the box other than the tapes?
Mario and Meggy looked inside the box and got out the huge photo book.
The book had words on the front saying "Special Memories", as Mario and Meggy opened the book.
Mario: Wow. We were together so much over the years.
Meggy: We were together at many events.
Birthdays, Halloweens, other events; hey, I see a blank space here.
The blank space had it's own page with the words "Best Friends Forever" written above it.
Mario: I believe the first picture we found goes here, right Luigi?
Luigi: I got ya.
Luigi gave the picture to Mario, and it was put in the blank space.
Mario: This is the greatest day of my life.
Meggy: Look at what else I found in the box.
Meggy was holding their friendship bracelets.
Mario: Are those...?
Meggy: Yes, Mario. Our friendship bracelets.
They put them on, and they still fit.
Mario: *gasp* They... fit.
Meggy: Able to fit... any size. Like I said.
Mario: So we'll be friends... forever. Oh my god. This means... every single thing Luigi said...
Meggy: Really is... all... true.
Mario and Meggy looked at each other for 15 seconds as they were both shedding tears of joy.
Mario: It really is you!
Meggy: My best friend!
Mario and Meggy were hugging each other while laughing and crying after that shocking revelation. They were both very happy.
Mario: I'm so happy! I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!
Meggy: You are the greatest friend I didn't know I ever had!
Everybody else was applauding and crying at this moment.
Luigi: Mario and Meggy, everybody. The greatest friendship to ever grace this planet Earth.
Later that night, after everybody left the castle and went back to their homes to sleep, Mario and Meggy were still up, watching every tape of themselves together as kids.
Meggy: We were so cute together.
Mario: And we're still cute together now.
The next tape they found was the only tape not made by Toadsworth, but by themselves.
The tape's label said "A message to future Mario and Meggy".
Mario: Wow. Our past selves made a message for our now selves.
Meggy: Well, put it in. I'm interested.
Mario put in the tape as they saw young versions of Mario and Meggy standing next to each other.
Mario (young): Greetings. This is a message for our future selves.
Meggy (young): We hope that you two would fall in love with each other.
Mario and Meggy were intrigued by this and continued.
Mario (young): We hope that many years in the future, you two will still be best friends.
Meggy (young): Maybe you'll be boyfriend and girlfriend.
Mario (young): Maybe you'll get married.
Meggy (young): Maybe you have a child.
Mario (young): Maybe two. Or three. Or ten. That's the best number of children.
Meggy (young): (laughs) You always find a way to make me laugh.
Mario (young): You're the coolest person I ever met.
Meggy (young): And you're the funniest person I ever met.
Mario (young): And to us from the future, we hope you two fall in love.
Meggy (young): We hope that you two will get this message.
Meggy: Well, past us.
Mario: Your wish has already been granted.
Mario and Meggy then kissed each other after watching that tape, and after knowing they have been childhood friends for 15 years, they are now determined to keep it that way until the end of time.
