Aurora's POV
Some time has passed and there are only a few weeks left before the wedding.
While Mom and Mr. Anderson spend a lot of time planning everything for the wedding, we would have dinner at Mr. Anderson's house twice a week, after school. Then every Sunday, we would have family game night and movie night after that.
Toby and I got to meet Steven's grandparents and Steven got to meet our grandparents. His grandparents are a bit conservative and strict but they seem like nice people.
Speaking of Steven, we would chat here and there but only for a short amount of time. We would also see each other in school but not that often and it would feel a bit weird to say hi to each other. And Toby is a bit shy to approach and to talk to him but Steven would be the one to break the ice with him and they would spend some time together.
Mom chose me to be her maid of honor and Toby is the ring bearer while Mr. Anderson chose Steven to be his best man.
"What do you think of this dress, Aurora?" Mom spoke which made me snap out of my thoughts. She showed me a classically simple strapless gown of pure white embroidered silk, with an asymmetrical over panel revealing a less-heavily embroidered underskirt.
"It looks lovely Mom," I said.
"You said that to the other dresses that I've shown you." She said.
"Mom, I'm not good with wedding dresses and they all look white and the same just different designs," I said, standing up.
"I have to agree with you but not all wedding dresses look the same and also this is snow white." She puts the wedding dress back on the racks and continues looking for another dress. "By the way, have you picked out your maid of honor dress yet?"
"No. What is the motif of the wedding again?" I asked.
"Plum, Grey, Copper, and Dusty Rose." She replied.
"Okay, I'll be back," I said and look for my maid-of-honor dress. I walked around and admire all of the dresses. Some dresses look elegant and it makes you feel like a princess. Some dresses look simple yet classy. And there are some dresses that almost look like prom dresses.
The reason why most wedding dresses are traditionally the color white is because the color is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is also considered to be the color of perfection.
Maybe that's why a lot of people would say that everything needs to be perfect before the wedding.
I stopped and found a section, full of thousands of dresses to choose from. Though I'm looking for a dress that has the perfect shade of dusty rose.
After a few minutes of searching, I found a dress that caught my eye.
I pull it out from the racks and touch the fabric of the dress.
It's a satin dusty rose off-the-shoulder long dress.
This is the one. I bring it along with me and show it to Mom.
"Hey, Mom," I called out. "What do you think of this dress?"
She turns around and I notice that she's wearing a different dress.
"Oh honey, it's beautiful. Do you like it?" She asked.
Her strapless, white dress of semi-embroidered fabric accentuated her thin waist, hugged her hips, and flared out a bit.
"I think it's perfect. And your dress is also beautiful Mom. I like it."
"Thank you, sweetie. I guess this is the one. I'll take it. And we'll also take this." She said.
~Later~
"We'll get these dresses in the morning before the wedding. " My Mom said as she pays for the dresses.
"No problem, ma'am. We'll work on the alterations as soon as possible." The owner of the shop said as she gives the change to my Mom.
"Thank you."
Then we head out of the shop and walk towards the car and get inside.
"I think that's all on the list for today. We'll do the others later or tomorrow, there's still so much to do." My Mom said as she puts her purse at the back of the car. "I'm exhausted. Want to get something to eat?"
"I'm actually kind of hungry. Can we go to Pine Drive restaurant please?"
"Sure." Mom started the engine and we head off.

After eating at the Pine Drive restaurant, we head back home.
"Do you have any homework?" Mom asked.
"No, and I'm glad there's no school today," I said.
"Oh wait, what time is it?" Mom asked.
"It's almost 4:00. Why?"
"I have to pick up Toby from his play date."
"Oh okay, will it be okay if you could just drop me off? I'm kind of tired." I said.
"It's fine. We're here." Mom said as she stops the car and I get off.
"Be sure to lock the door."
"Yes Mom, I'll see you later," I said and she gave me the house keys. I close the car door and watch her car drive off.
I turn around and walk towards the house. I pull out the main key of the house, unlock the door, head inside, and lock the door again.
I let out a sigh and walk towards the living room. I took off my shoes and lay down on the couch.
I decided to watch some TV since it's awfully quiet. I grab the remote control and turn the TV on. I just switch from channel to channel until I stopped and watch a movie that I've seen with Heather and Eddie.
It's about a guy stalking a girl and we all thought the guy is the crazy one but then it turns out that the girl is actually crazier than the guy which is a huge plot twist.
A few moments later, from the corner of my eye, I saw something moved. I averted my gaze towards the window and I could've sworn I saw a shadowy figure passing by.
I stand up and slowly walk towards the window. I look out and nobody is there.
I just shrugged it off and walk back to the couch.
'KNOCK KNOCK'
I got startled by the sudden knock on the door. I turn off the TV and slowly and quietly walk toward the door.
I look through the peephole and saw Heather and Eddie standing right outside.
Letting out a shaky breath, I unlock the door and open the door.
"Hey guys, you scared me," I said as I let them in.
"Are you by yourself?" Heather asked and I closed the door and lock the door again.
"Yeah. Mom is picking up Toby from his play date."
We walk towards the couch and sit down. Heather grabbed the remote.
"Were you watching something?" Eddie asked.
"The movie that we watched a month ago," I answered.
Heather turns on the TV and we continue watching the movie and we would talk here and there.
It felt like an hour or two has passed and I think I heard my Mom's car outside.
"I think my Mom is here. I'll be back." I said.
"Actually, Ro, I think it's about time for us to leave and head back home," Eddie said, getting up from the couch.
"Yeah, I think my Mom needs me at home to help her cook dinner," Heather said.
"Oh okay, then I'll walk you guys out," I said.
We walk towards the door and I unlock the door before opening the door.
Mom stepped out of the car and help Toby getting off the car.
"Aurora!" Toby yelled, running towards me.
"Hey Toby, how's your play date?" I asked, getting down on one knee, hugging him.
"I had fun." He said.
"Glad to hear that, Toby," I said, standing up. "Say hi to Heather and Eddie."
"Hi Heather, hi Eddie." He waved at them.
"Hey Toby," Heather said, ruffling his hair.
"Hi Toby," Eddie said as they do a fist bump.
"I'm gonna go upstairs to my room," Toby said and he walks into the house.
"Hi, sweetie. Oh, hi Heather. Hi Eddie." Mom spoke.
"Hi, Mrs. Hills." They said in unison.
"Aurora, we better get going," Eddie said. "It's nice to see you again, Mrs. Hills."
"You too, walk home safely." Mom said.
We say our goodbyes then they head back to their homes.
"Let's get inside." Mom said.
I nodded and we head inside.
"What would you like to have for dinner later?" Mom asked.
"How about your famous garlic chicken?" I suggested.
"Oh, of course. After all, it's your guys' favorite. I'll call you when it's done."
I nodded and head upstairs. I walk into my room and I decided to go on my laptop for a bit.
A few hours have passed and it's dinner time.
"Kids, I have something to tell you." Mom spoke. "In a few days after the wedding, we're going to move to your stepdad's house."
"And live there?" I asked. "I'm gonna miss this place.
"Me too but don't worry. You'll soon get used to it and you'll like it there." She said.
"Well, I suppose. We're gonna be together as a family after all. And all I want for you is to be happy, Mom. And I'm sure Dad wants that too."
"Thank you for your support sweetie, I really appreciate it." She said.
"I want Mommy to be happy too," Toby said.
Mom and I let out a giggle. "Thank you, honey. Now, let's enjoy our dinner."
We nodded and continue eating our dinner.
After dinner, Toby and I head upstairs and I put him to bed.
Then I head inside my room and change into my pajamas. After changing, I hopped into bed. I wrap the blanket around me and fall into a deep sleep.
"Aurora~ You know you can't run away from me."
I run and run as fast as I can. Then I saw a door and pick up the pace.
I grab the door handle and quickly open it. Right in front of me is a shadowy figure and behind him is a bloody garden full of red rose bushes I notice tips of the petals are dripping blood.
"Hello, Aurora."
I open my eyes and jerk out of my bed and let out a gasp.
It's just a nightmare. Just a nightmare.
Looking at the time, it's currently one in the morning.
I take a deep breath before falling back to sleep.
