Alice played in the woods one day and saw a little girl she had never seen. The little girl was very friendly, and quickly became her friend. She told her that her and her parents lived in the woods together.
Of course Alice didn't believe that. how could someone live in the woods. But the girl was telling the truth. Her and her imaginary parents lived in the woods together. She never had real parents or a real friend. The girl made Alice promise she would see her every day. Alice agreed.
And just like she asked Alice went and played with her in the woods everyday and even gave her food. Alice often asked the girl if she wanted to stay inside, but she always said no. So she just continued visiting her.
When Alice was 13 however she started becoming to old to visit her. She completely forgot all about her.
The girl never seen her again. One day when Alice was 14 she went into the woods with her friends and found a dress. It looked quite familiar. Then Alice remembered. It was the little girl. She went back to the knocked over tree were she always waited for her.
Her body was still there sitting perfect an the stump, as if she never stopped waiting. But she was smiling. She wasn't mad about Alice forgetting. Then her ghost walked from behind the tree.
"At least you were my friend for a while." She said, "and that's more than I've ever got."
