Authors Note: This Chapter is in Cody’s Point Of View.
I landed with a thump onto the outback’s dusty road as I heard what I thought was Jessica’s voice, I’m pretty sure that was Jessica. I need to save her.
I ran as fast as I could not looking back until I reached where Jake and Ali were.
My throat felt dry, my feet where hurting and I was running out of breath. I can’t stop, I won’t stop. Jessica needs me.
In the distance I could see Jake and Alli walking towards me.
“Cody!! Where have you been? We’ve been so worried about you!” Alli said running towards me and hugging me.
“That doesn’t matter right now, I’ll explain later, but Jessica is in seriously trouble, she’s in a back of a van somewhere in the outback” I said as fast as I could.
“I know Cody, I rang her and this really weird, seedy man answered the phone and told be pretty much everything, it just shows how stupid he is, so I called the police and they’re trying to identify where the van is…” Alli said panicking.
“Oh thank god Alli, but you need to tell them that they’re armed, they injected me with something to knock me out, so I suspect they’ve done the same to Jessica..” I said crying.
“Cody, we’ll sort it, just try and remember which road they went down” Jake said trying to help.
“Errmmm the one straight ahead from the pier.” I said trying to remember the exact road.
“Cody you look a bit faint would you like some water?” Alli said offering me water.
“Yes please Alli, I think I might need to sit down.” I said as I took the water starting to feel slightly dizzy.
I felt myself fall over, I must have fainted. I could still hear voices.
“Alli, I’ll lift his legs up, you start fanning is face, ok?” Jake said taking control of the situation.
“Ok” Alli said in a shaky manner.
“He must be dehydrated or it might be something to do with the drugs them freakin' idiots gave him.” Jake said getting angry at the fact someone had hurt me.
I felt my eyes starting to open and I heard two sighs of relief. One from Jake and one from Alli.
“Right sorry about that, but we need to go find Jessica now.” I said as I got up and started walking in the direction of where the van went.
“Cody, mate you’re not walking after what just happened” Jake said whilst restraining me.
Alli pulled her IPhone out of her pocket and started tapping away on the touch screen.
“Hey, mum we need you to drive us to the outback desperately, IMMEDIATELY! Jessica is in serious trouble!” Alli said hyperventilating.
“Oh no ok, I just hope she’ll be alright by then..” Alli said terrified.
“Mum said that it’s way to dangerous to drive, she said it’ll be pitch black in the outback by now, we have to go first thing in the morning” Alli said letting a tear fall.
“Ohhh crap, I suppose we’ll have to go in the morning then, I just hope my baby will be ok” I started crying, tears were falling like a waterfall, I could control my emotions. I just love Jessica so much. Jake came over and gave me a man hug and Alli joined in, we were all just so scared for Jessica.
I got in and the first thing I heard was “Cody what the hell happened to you?!” Mum said in shock.
“I’ll explain later” I replied and with that I went to bed and cried myself asleep.
*10 hours later*
“Alli..” I said in a questioning voice.
“yeh” Alli replied.
“I think I recognise those two men.” I continued.
“Who are they then?” Alli practically shouted.
“Well you know when we were watching the news, when Jessica was on it?” I said
“Yeah, I do why?” Alli replied.
“Well, there was a report after that, I remember taking a glance at, about two rapists who had escaped jail, well that’s who they were.” I said suddenly realising, Jessica was in DEEP DEEP trouble.
“Holy SHIT!” Alli and Jake chorused.
Woah! They don’t usually swear.
“Oh noo, please no” Alli started crying sooo hard. Jake embraced Alli into a tight hug trying to console her. He kissed her on the head, holding her tighter still.
*5 minutes later*
“Kids get in the car” my mum, Angie yelled!
“Mum it’s the road directly opposite the pier!” I instructed, and we were off like a bullet.
“Mum Jessica is in the back of a black van, being held by two rapists who escaped jail” I said shaking.
“HOLY SHIT!” mum said as she speeded up even more.
At this point I felt I tear run down my face, then another one and before I knew it I was crying, but trying to be silent, so I didn’t attract attention, I couldn’t help it though, the girl I love and care about was in deep trouble, I hope they haven’t hurt her.
* 1 hour 30 minutes later*
I cold see a tent in the distance, it was like a dot.
“Mum stop here, we don’t want them knowing we’re here.” I said pleading.
She slowed the car up, until it stopped.
I got out the car and started to walk towards where I could see the tent.
“Cody what are you doing?” Jake asked.
“Saving, Jessica?” I replied.
“Cody, mate you could get killed, you’re not going alone.” Jake said as he exited the car.
“Aye you’re not going alone, because you’re not going at all” My mum said as she pointed to us to get back in the car.
“Jake we need to leg it, or Jessica could be killed, they have a gun” I whispered not moving my lips to Jake.
“Holy cray! we need to hurry up, on the count of three we’ll run, one, two, and three!” he said whispering and we legged it towards the tent.
“BOYS COME BACK HERE, I DON’T WANT YOU GETTING HURT” my mum shouted. But we continued on, until we were about 40 metres away from the tent, we hid behind their van. I ducked my head under the van to see if I could see Jessica.
To my behold there she was with her hands tied, feet tied and OMG and, well half naked.
“Jake, I need you to make a promise.” I said being serious, whilst whispering.
“Yeah what is it brah?” Jake replied to me.
“Well you’re about to see Jessica half naked, they’ve stripped her top half off, and I just want you to promise never to mention that part of this ever again to her, unless she allows you to.” I said looking Jake straight into his eyes.
“ I wouldn’t dream of doing that to her, and I know why your saying that, I know that Jessica heard my conversation about me telling Alli I liked her, well in fact I like Alli so there is nothing to worry about.” Jake reassured me.
“Oh ok dude, and eww my sister, sorry not the time to tease” I said winking. NOW BACK TO THE SERIOUS MATTER, Jessica.
We could hear foot steps, I ducked under the van again to see where they were coming from, and I could see the tall man towering over Jessica. All I heard was “Well you’ll have to do something for me” As the pedo man ran his hand down his trousers, and with that he walked away, back into the tent.
I picked up a stone and threw it under than van, it landed right next to Jessica, she saw it and looked in towards the direction it came from, looking straight into my direction with pleading eyes of help. I mouthed “I’ll save you!” she half smiled, looking slightly embarrassed at the fact I’d just seen her half naked and then a tear ran down her face, her body looked incredibly red and sore.
I needed to hatch a plan.
“Jake, we need a plan, any ideas?” I said to Jake .
“We need a way to distract the men” Jake replied.
“Ok right, if I run out and pick up Jessica, and if the hideous men see me, jump onto their backs or something, I’ll leave you to sort that out Jake.” I said whispering in a hurry.
“Ok Cody, I have a plan, you said they have a gun right?” Jake asked me.
“Yeah it was in their van I think” I admitted.
“Ok, lets hope it’s still there and the van is open..” Jake said whilst hatching a plan.
“What? you’re going to shoot them?” I said gasping.
“No Cody I’m not a freakin' murderer, I’ll just threaten them with it” He said.
“Right ok whatever I’m going to get Jessica” I said not being able to wait any longer.
“JESSICA, sooo what is your answer?” the creepy man shouted whilst in the tent.
She stayed silent.
I watched Jake successfully open the car door with minimal noise, whilst grabbing the gun case, he opened the case and there was a fully loaded gun and some really long needles with blood on them, and next to them was a labelled drug in a test tube, I’m guessing that's what they knocked me out with... or Jessica.
“Jake wait, you see those needles, they can knock people out with that drug which is next to them, you could actually use that.” I said trying to elaborate on our plan.
“Ok Cody I’ll use the gun as a threat and if we get in trouble I’ll inject them, now go and get Jessica!!” Jake said in a loud whisper.
I ducked under the van once more to check the coast was clear, then I ran from behind the van straight to Jessica.
“It’s ok babe I got you” I whispered to her. She didn’t say a word she just cried a painful, terrified tear. I scooped her limp body up in my arms and kissed her tear away, I then ran behind the van again and gently placed her on the floor, I then attempted to untie her hands and feet, she felt really limp and dehydrated. I took my shirt off and put it on her so that she wouldn't be embarrassed anymore, especially with Jake standing right there and so that she didn't get any more sun burnt than she already was. She let out a weak smile.
I heard a shuffle from the tent that the two men were in and one shouted,
“WHERE THE HELL DID SHE GO?”
Next, I only heard mumbling and shuffling and I ducked under the van to see where they were, and I couldn’t see them. I turned to my right and there they were staring right at me, Jake and Jessica. CRAP.
