"Sorry Everybody!" Mr. Green's loud voice sounded throughout the room "Looks like we've used too much power"
Everybody laughed
"If you bare with us, we'll have everything back up in a jiffy"
Someone grabbed me
"Come with me" he whispered in my ear
"What?" I tried to pull away but he held on tight "Let me go"
"If you don't come with me, everyone you know and love in this room will die"
"Is that a threat?" I yanked my arm away but he continued to hold on tight
"No" he dragged me to the back door "That's a promise"
"Let me go" I yelled "Help me!"
He muttered something in an foreign language and all my senses dulled
My brain reacted on its own and I muttered something
My senses came back to normal
"Amazing" the man exclaimed "The Queen will be most excited to hear about your developments"
I backed away from him, and for the first time, noticed that we were in the woods behind the Greens house.
"I don't know who you are" I said, backing away slowly "But I think you had too much of the adult cool aid"
He was about to say something when and angry voice sounded from behind us
"You have one second..." Greyson snarled menacingly from being us "Before I rip your arm off your body"
The man muttered something again and Greyson dropped to his knees in pain
My brain acted on its own again and I muttered something.
Greyson stood up in surprise, looking at me with a weird look in his eyes
"Incredible" the man muttered under his breath, letting me go "Absolutely incredible"
He stood straighter and looked at Greyson "There is no need for you here Mutt. Go back to your pound"
"Bite me" Greyson snarled and took a step forward "She is my every need to be here!"
I stepped closer to Greyson and he hid me slightly behind him
"You are not needed here Wolf" the man said simply, like Greyson wasn't getting it.
Greyson stiffened and the man cocked his head to the side
"Be quiet" Greyson said through clenched teeth
The man smiled "Oh? She does not know?"
I looked at Greyson and he looked like he was one word away from murdering someone
"Know what?" I asked, stepping slightly away from Greyson
"Shut up" Greyson barked "Now!"
The man ignored him and looked directly at me
"Greyson Green, third son born to Anthony and Jennifer Green, is a Wolf directly descended from the Green line. Cursed by a Witch and doomed for eternity to roam this earth as Half Wolf, Half Man, The Greens have managed to become one of the Worlds most strongest Packs by relying solely on values of family and friendship"
I looked at Greyson, whose hands were clenched at his side
"Who are you?"
"I am Oak" he said "Third Warrior to Her Royal Highness the Seelie Queen"
My mouth dropped opened and I looked between the two men "Is this a joke?"
Both men said nothing
The man named Oak gave me a confused look "What is this joke you are speaking of?"
"Very funny" I glared at Greyson "If this is one of your stupid pranks, I'm not amused"
"Rosabella" He said quietly, still watching the stranger "I don't know who this weirdo is"
My eyes widened at his use of my full name.
For as long as I've known him, he has never used my full name unless he was being serious.
Right then, I knew he had nothing to do with this nutcase.
I hid behind Grey even more
"Should we call the cops?" I asked, pulling out my phone just in case
"I don't think they would be a big help" Greyson muttered to me
"And why is that?"
"Because if this guy is who he says he is than ordinary humans won't help us"
"What do you mean?"
Grey ignored me, his eyes still trained on the man in front of us
"Rose, when I give you the signal, I want you to run back to my house and grab my family. Tell them what happened here"
"But what about..."
He cut me off "Just run Rose. Run and no matter what, don't look back. Promise me you won't look back"
He glanced at me for a second, his eyes pleading desperately to do as he said
"She will not get far" a new voice said, emerging from the shadows "Don't try anything stupid Mutt or we will not hesitate to put you down"
Oak bowed to the huge newcomer "My Lord"
"Why have you not attained the Princess yet? Her Majesty is very eager for her arrival"
Oak nodded towards us, specifically Greyson
"The Mutt will not back down"
"Did you warn him of the repercussions of his actions?"
"I was about to before you arrived, My Lord"
The Man looked at Greyson before bellowing loud "Hear me loud and Clear Third born of the Green Clan, for I will say this once and only once. Leave and never return. This matter has nothing to do with you or your kind"
"I WILL NOT LET YOU KIDNAP MY MATE" Greyson roared "SHE'S MINE!"
"Very well" the man said, looking at Oak "Kill him. I'll handle the Princess"
"NO!!!" I yelled, throwing myself in front of Greyson as Oak moved forward at lightning speed
The other man was at my side in an instant, prying me away from Greyson
"DON'T TOUCH HER!" Greyson snarled, pulled me away from Mr. Grab Hands
"Kill him"
I looked between the two men in panic, racking my brain for a solution.
If Oak was who he said he was, and I'm guessing the other guy was too, than I only really had one option at this point.
To rely on the countless and countless Folklore books I've read
"No" I said loudly "You will not kill him"
Oak paused looking at both me at the man, who was now wearing an amused smile on his face.
"And why is that?"
I gulped, cheeks tinting red, glancing back at Greyson briefly
He gave me a questioning look
"Because..." I said, my eyes returning to the two men "He is my Betrothed"
I didn't need to see Greyson to know that his eyes were popping out of his head
"Impossible" the Man hissed
Oak's eyes widened "How did she know..."
The man cut him off "It seems that the Princess knows more than she originally let on"
"What do we do?"
"What can we do" he snarled "Bring them both. Her Majesty has grown impatient"
The man turned to us with cold eyes "Do not attempt to run. There is no where you could go where we would not find you"
Oak nodded toward the man "After you"
I followed without a word and felt Greyson follow me
"Rose" he whispered "What...was that?"
I looked at him "That was me saving your life"
"How exactly did you do that?"
"The Fae have certain rules in place to protect their people. One of those rules extends to the betrothed of one of their kind"
"I don't understand" he shook his head
The man ahead stopped and glared at Greyson
"How daft can you be?" he sneered
Greyson snarled, stepping forward
I held him back
"It means" I spoke up "That As long as your my betrothed, they can do no harm to you"
"Yet" The man emphasized "We can do not harm to him Yet"
He turned to me
"Well thought out plan Princess, I really commend you on paying attention to our customs even though you had no clue about your origins. With that being said, however, there is one small flaw to your plan"
I looked him in the eyes "I am aware"
"Aware of what?" Greyson asked, grabbing my hands "What flaw is he talking about?"
The two men zeroed in on our hands and raised their lips in a snarl
I looked at him "In order for you to be my betrothed, the Seelie Queen has to deem you acceptable"
"In which she never will" The man grinned before walking forward
Oak dragged us along
Grey's eyes narrowed in on my face and I turned away "And..." he prompted
I didn't meet his eyes "And when she does, we would have to be married within the nightfall, intertwining our fate's together for eternity"
An unknown expression passed across his face but it was gone before I could decipher it.
"And how do you know about all this? How do you know so much about the Fae?"
"I guess all the stories really are true" I said softly, quoting one of my favorite authors "Legends really do exist"
