You walked through narrow corridors where students would sit scattered in corners, some had books laid flat on their laps, practicing incantations or charms, whilst others would simply chatter, spurt or walk to class and mind their business. A handful of students gave you the side eye glimpse whilst a few of them didn't hide the obvious - that they're scanning your face or your drenched attire.
Uncomfortable, you slouched, quickly tucking the time turner underneath your shirt so nobody would see it then gripping tighter onto your satchel out of sheer anxiety.
Minutes later you had submitted your application and were quickly accepted by the Headmaster himself, who admired your high grades from 'Ilvermorny'.
You recognized the Professor from one of the portraits that rested in Dumbledore's future office.
Armando Dippet, a wise wizard of over 300 years old, gave you a respectful handshake as he welcomed you to your new home - Hogwarts.
"You must be in Ravenclaw" - Dippet said "We only make very rare exceptions about accepting students as the term had already begun a month ago"
"That feels like a lot of pressure now, sir" - you replied, gripping tighter onto your black satchel
"Do not listen to me" - Armando stopped besides a set of staircase "The sorting hat is charmed to sort you based on your strongest trait." - he waved his hand towards the stairs as he resumed walking "Which might be something different. Albus Dumbledore is one of my finest professors. I expect him to take my place once I leave. Henceforth, I thought it would be fair for me to trust him with the keeping of the hat."
After hearing a knock, Albus let you and the headmaster to come into his office.
Dumbledore had been wearing glasses, there was a quill in his hand as he seemed to be writing some sort of letter. When Albus saw the two of you come in, he put down his quill and stood up "Ah! What is the honor behind the unexpected visit?" - he asked
Armando stretched his arm out to present you behind him "This is a young transfer from Ilvermorny. Would you kindly assist us with the sorting?"
"Of course." - Dumbledore nodded his head before opening a nearby, large chest then yanking a battered looking hat.
The hat, after being drawn out of the chest, heavily yawned, bewitched to have its own mind and voice as it roared "What is it now?! Who awakens my slumber so soon?" - it suddenly took notice of you "Oo, who is the appealing lady?"
"Charming as always" - Dumbledore grinned, carefully lowering the hat on top of your head.
"Mm" - it murmured as soon as it landed "I like mexican food too!" - the hat laughed then quickly stopped "I'm just kidding!" - it groaned "I don't know how to eat. I can sing though, you want to hear it?"
Headmaster Armando looked apologetic "That won't be necessary." - He clapped his hands together, bringing his palms closer to his nose as if embarrassed "Would you, please, get on with the matter?"
The hat sighed "Fine." - it whispered only loud enough for you to hear "Old men. Clearly never seen the constant darkness of an interior chest before." - the silly titfer scoffed "Yes. Hm. I see." - it paused, as if suddenly thinking "You're talented for your age. You're brave but you don't think you are... I sense ambition... You are determined for something... yes, I see... You'd make an excellent Gryffindor but I can sense very strong Slytherin attributes in you... Ravenclaw? You want to be in Ravenclaw?"
You were only thinking about how headmaster Dippet had stated you'd make a great Ravenclaw, but you never directly asked to be in it
"Hmm..." - it continued, taking longer than it usually would when sorting "Might as well sort you in Hufflepuff, eh?" - it laughed teasingly "Alright, alright." - it coughed, halting the slight chortle "I'll have to go with... Gryffindor!"
------ Quick Author's note ----
I wrote the MC in Gryffindor because it's important to the PLOT. I had to address this after all the ridiculous Gryffindor hate. Authors shouldn't get complains for choosing what house to write about. If anything, you are encouraged to write your own fanfic and insert whatever house you want to write about. Love you
--------*smoke bomb*-------
"Well done" - Armando replied, appearing pleased "Albus Dumbledore is the head of Gryffindor. He will aid you if necessary"
"I'll remember that, professor" - you replied as Albus moved the hat off your head
Once Dumbledore placed it back in its chest, the hat spoke "Even though you're sorted, be a Gryffindor at heart, Hufflepuff at soul, Ravenclaw at mind and Slytherin at strength."
"Wise words indeed." - Dumbledore added as he closed the chest "Now back to sleep off you go"
Armando's attention shifted back to you "Albus will also be your transfiguration teacher"
You respectfully smiled at Dumbledore "I look forward to it"
"I can tell you will be a promising student" - Albus nodded his head
"Now." - Dippet intervened "My trustworthy caretaker Apollyon Pringle shall lead you to one of my loyal house elves who has been in charge of uniforms." - he pointed at the freshly entered caretaker who scornfully glared at you. "We will see you soon, make yourself at home."
"I will, Thank you." You replied, following the caretaker out of the office and leaving both of the professors alone to work.
The idea of a second hand uniform did not appeal very much, but you had to get one quickly.
After navigating through hallway after hallway, without making any effort in small talk, the caretaker stopped near what appeared to be a storage room at the bottom floor of Hogwarts "Here we are" - he finally said, opening up a large, wooden door.
Inside, you were greeted by the smell of fabric as your eyes jumped around the robes floating in mid air, as if hung on invisible hangers. In the middle of the room sat a lonely elf, focused on adjusting a Ravenclaw skirt.
The rigged, tired looking elf glanced up to see the two of you stand by the door "What is the reason for Apollyon to grace Moorby with such pleasure?"
"Headmaster requires a full Gryffindor uniform for this one" - Apollyon pushed you further into the room so the elf could inspect you easier.
The elf took some quick measurements and shortly handed you a robe, a grey blazer with the emblem of Gryffindor on it, a plain white shirt, a Gryffindor themed tie along side a grey knitted V-neck jumper. "Since <___> is female species..." - Moorby took a gymslip with a pleated skirt and placed it on top of the small pile of clothes you were holding "Trousers for the winter. For now that should be everything" - his cracking voice overflew with relief as he knew he was able to get back to work.
"Thank you" - you kindly smiled at the elf
After seeing such kindness, his eyes twinkled as he sat back down and resumed fixing the skirt, giggling to himself a little like a school girl.
When you and the caretaker left the room, he stopped you midway on route to the main room of Gryffindor "You must rest now. Your timetable will be handed tomorrow in the morning. Here is the code for the entrance of Gryffindor's main chambers" - he handed you a small piece of paper with written instructions on it "Remember, we don't share it with members of other houses. And do not dare to go to the forbidden section of Hogwarts during your free time. Mischievous students will be caught" - he squinted his eyes "And expelled."
"I will not... Thank you, sir..."
"No problem. Now go and make yourself comfortable as your classes will begin first thing in the morning tomorrow." - he swiftly, aggressively leaned in "But not TOO comfortable. I must warn you I have my eyes on everything."
Thinking this man has an odd, mixed personality, you hesitantly thanked him again and parted your ways. You had very little time to admire some the famous portraits hung in the castle, all of which were moving and welcoming you or congratulating you to the new home, most were very polite pieces of art.
Eventually, you came across the searched for, rotating staircases. You ended up waiting until one would arrive your way. When you got on one, you smiled - This was peaceful. For now.
After you began to move along with the staircase, eventually, you got off at your needed stop. You followed the instructions and spoke out the password to a beautiful looking painting, which opened, revealing an entrance and letting you pass. Your eyes fell upon each edge and secret that the Gryffindor's main room had to offer.
The written instructions showed you which bed to take and where to go. You didn't have any stuff to unpack, and even though it was easier, unfortunately, you knew you were unprepared for classes. When you realized that, it was obvious you'd have to go shopping the next day you're off.
Thankfully, you traveled with a black satchel that had some golden coins already in it, enough to buy yourself the basic needs.
You quietly slipped into your bed, sinking into the warmth of the new sheets. Before you fell asleep, you thought through a plan on what you should do next. The idea of you leaving behind an old world you lived in for a small chance at a greater new one was scary. But this one shall be better by any means in your power. With your parents still alive and a chance to begin a solid, fresh start.

GRYFFINDOR SERVES THE PURPOSE OF THE PLOT. IT'S IMPORTANT SHE'S IN THIS HOUSE.
This Bottom is to honour all the awesome houses and I am sorry to the ones who were hoping to get sorted into a different house ❤
(GIFS are not made by me; the words represent the character NOT the house <3)
Character traits, NOT house traits. Cho - confused. Revena - foolish.
Character traits, NOT house traits - Voldemort - evil, Draco - Misunderstood
Character traits, NOT house traits - Peter - traitor, Sirius - reckless.
(Again, gifs are NOT made by me, words are assigned for the character representing the house and NOT the overall house)❤
I'm sorry I had to specify repeatedly, some people take it too seriously and don't understand, they also resort to swearing and complaining.
Love you the rest of you guys ❤
