It was hard to find something to get Kevin but I finally managed to come up with what I thought would be the perfect gift for him... with the help of Hannah whom I might add kept bashing my gift choices.
It was a hustle getting everything ready on such short notice but it was worth it. On the morning of his birthday I wished him a happy birthday and got ready for work. I had plans for us in the evening but I decided to do the present giving over lunch
I left early in order to meet up with him. He couldn't go far so we sat on the benches outside the hospital. Deep down I was anxious to know how he would feel about the gift I got him on short notice.
"Hello"
"Hey" he greeted taking a sip of his coffee and handing me mine
It was pretty cold outside and I would have loved to be cacooned in the warmth of my blankets but as today would have it... I couldn't
"Okay, I know you don't have much time so I'll get straight to the point" I lifted the beautifully wrapped box from beside the bench and placed it between us "Happy Birthday"
He looked at the box and then back up at me
"Open it" I coaxed
He put the box on his lap and carefully unwrapped it as if trying not to damage the wrapping too much. It was weird how we spent hours trying to wrap up a gift just to have it torn up seconds after the recipient had it
He opened the box and grinned taking out his own customalised embroidered lab coat with the words Dr Kevin Conway written on the front
"Do you like it?" I asked when he didn't say anything
"I love it. My own personal lab coat"
"Yes and it gets even better because it has a touch of me on the inside" I said pointing at the emboidery on the tag by the colar
He squinted his eyes "BVO. What does that stand for?"
"Bridgets very own"
"Marking your teritory"
"Exactly" I smiled playfully
He checked the rest of the contents of the box and pulled out a black leather jacket and a coffee thermos
"Hannah didn't like the idea of a thermos but I went ahead and got one"
I remember her telling me that she didn't think it was necessary but I really liked the idea of it so I got it anyways
"Do you like the gift?"
"I do. Especially the fact that you had them embroidered. Wait did you do that to the jacket too?"
"No. Only the flask and the labcoat"
I thought of getting him a scrub jacket but then I wanted him to have something he could wear outside the hospital and I fell in love with the leather jacket when I saw it
"Thank you. You know you didn't have to do this right?"
"I wanted to and we have plans this evening"
"Plans?"
"Yeah. We are having dinner at a cute little restaurant I've had my eye on for sometime"
I looked at my watch and I had to leave now if I was going to make it to class in time
"I have to go now but I'll see you at dinner"
I leaned in give him a quick kiss but he cupped my face and deepened it only breaking off when we both needed air
"Thanks" he smiled
"You're welcome"
For the dinner I chose a maroon knee high dress with a bare back and a high neck line. I paired it off with black heels and let my hair down though I decided to straighten it for today.
I let Hannah do my makeup and I was happy when she didn't overdo it. Kevin texted me when he was on his way and I made sure I was ready by the time he arrived. I said bye to Hannah and went to Kevin who was leaning against the car looking handsome wearing simply trousers with a shirt and the leather jacket I got him. My imagination of him in the jacket before I got it did not do him justice. The first two buttons of his shirt were open showing just a bit of skin.
I saw him take me in from head to toe before licking his lips sending a shiver down my spine. He took a few steps forward as I approached him "You look beautiful" he complimented
"Thanks and you look..." I pursed my lips looking for the perfect word "...delicious"
He raised an eyebrow "Thanks"
He led me to the car door with his hand on the small of my back
He opened the door for me and I got in. I had made a reservation the day before and made sure Kevin understood that I was the one paying the bill since it was his birthday
The restaurant was great and the food there was good too. We talked all through the main meal and I still felt like I had room for desert so we ordered that too. I went for chocolate pudding and made Kevin get the same seeing as he was undecided
I was happy I chose it because it tasted just as amazing as it looked.
"At the rate at which you're eating, I'm pretty sure your spoon is going to make it into mine soon"
"You can count on that"
I put a spoonful of pudding in my mouth and almost ended up swallowing something cold and hard. I took a napkin and spit the foreign object out. My blood instantly went cold at the sight of a beautiful diamond ring. My mind turned to mush as I tried to process what was going on
"K-K-Kevin" I stuttered looking up at him "What's this?"
I was filled with panic while holding the little thing on my hand. I wasn't ready for this or atleast that's how I felt. He looked at me and lost his smile once he noticed what I was holding
"Where did you get that?"
"In my pudding cup. Wait you mean it's not yours?"
"No"
I let out a huge sigh of relief "Thank God. You have no idea how scared I was"
He gestured for the waiter to come over and told him about the ring. He apologised profusely informing us that they had made a mistake in delivering the dessert. After that little incident I wasn't able to finish my dessert so we left shortly after. The drive back to his apartment was kind of quiet and a little awkward. I felt like the night had been ruined
After we got to the apartment I went to the bathroom to get ready for bed while Kevin was in the room. He was talking to me while I got ready. I looked at myself in the mirror and felt a little self conscious. I decided the last gift Kevin would unwrap would be me... in some crazy sort of way.
"Mom still insists on throwing me a party even though I don't want one" he complained
"Just tell her to make something small if she keeps insisting"
My lingerie was a sleevless, red, lacy bow dress with a G-string. There was a bow on my front and another on my ass. Looking at myself in the mirror all I could think of was I shouldn't have let Hannah talk me into buying this but then it was his birthday and I wanted it to be special. I threw on a red pair of stilettos and took a few deep breaths
"Are you ok in there?"
"Yeah, I'll be right out" I assured him
Taking one last look at myself in the mirror I walked out of the bathroom.
Kevin was shirtless facing the opposite direction typing something on his phone. He hadn't noticed me enter the room
"I've told her to keep it simple. Just family and close friends" he yelled
"And I'm sure she'll listen"
He put his phone on the night stand and turned around "I sure hope s..." he trailed off
He didn't say anything for a little while and I became nervous "Do you like it? or is it a bit too much?"
"Kevin..." I called out when he didn't say anything
"W-What" he looked confused
One last gift for you to unwrap" He didn't make a move so I walked over to where he was seated. The sound of my heels being the only thing I could hear till I was standing right in front of him "Unless you want me to do it myself"
I pushed him back on the bed and sat astride him making sure he had an amazing view of my breasts
"You look-"
I sushed him with my index finger "Shhh" I leaned in and traced my tongue from the corner of his mouth to his ear, nibbling on it.
"I'm all yours to do with as you please"

He kissed my cheek and I giggled "Happy Birthday"
I felt the vibrations of his chest on my back as he laughed "Thank you. Remind me when yours is again..."
I guess it was weird that we didn't know each others birthdays after so long. He pulled out of me and I moved about so that he could let me lie on my back. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer "Wouldn't you like to know?"
"I would actually" he kissed me and I returned it fervently
We pulled apart and I pushed the stubborn strands of hair off his forehead while looking into his eyes. They were so warm and loving. They reminded me of the colour of the sky and I was so drawn to them. They were probably the first things I noticed when I first saw him and as time went by I had come to love the man that came with them
"I love you" I whispered
He smiled and placed a kiss on my nose "I love you too"
"Oh" my eyes widened breaking the moment "Will your mom still be throwing you a party tomorrow?"
He raised his eyebrow in what I assumed was disbelief "So you thought now was the perfect time to bring up my Mom"
"Well..." my eyes darted around the room "Yeah"
He squinted one eye and shook his head
"So... no"
"No" he reponded
"So just so we're clear is that no to the party or no to the —"
His lips found mine knocking the sense right out of me
