Chapter 9

You want to go home right?

Don't tell him, he'll keep you here if you tell him.

If one person knew anything, it would be that godforsaken rogue, Theo. As I stalk to their base, I dwell on whether I should kill the rogue after interrogating him. Just that man knowing more about my mate than I do irritates my wolf and I.

As I entered their camp ground the whispers begin. Women gathering the children and taking them to the farthest reach of this piece of land. Male rogues shouting orders, one calling for Theo.

I stood at the very center of their 'home' and waited for Theo to make his appearance. It didn't take long, by the time the rogues surrounded me, Theo had come running out from a tent.

"He came alone," a man behind me assessed.

"Alpha Pain... we haven't done anything-"

"I need to speak to you in private." Just opening my mouth I sense everyone take a step back.

"Anything you say can be said here." I enjoy watching Theo resist his urge to cower before me.

"We will talk in private, Theo." My command is something no werewolf of alpha class or lower can fight. It's in their nature, the weak, to follow the strongest. Only those that possess higher power than myself can challenge my word.

None of these weaklings can.

I see that as even Theo, a rogue of beta blood, lowers his head in submission. I can tell he hates this control I have over him, as do the rest.

Since they're all frozen in place, I take the initiative and advance towards Theo. And like water against rock, the rogues disperse to let me through. Theo simply turns around and follows me to a secluded area, which merely consisted of a picnic table and some space for a garden.

"What do you want?" Theo finally speaks up and so I get to the point.

"I need my mate to stay and you know how I can do that." His eyes dilate and I notice how he, very badly, tries to control his heart beat.

"I don't-" I have him by his neck before he even tries to finish his sentence.

"You will tell me what I need to know, or else your little establishment here, will be burned down. Along with your women and children-" I tighten my grip on his neck, growing out my nails to dig into his flesh. "All that you've built here will be gone, I will make you watch as it's all taken from you. Their blood will be on your hands." I push him down to the ground and I watch as he gasps for air.

"You're a fucking monster. You think you'll be able to keep your mate from leaving? After she finds out the type of monster you are, she'll run from you." I snicker at that. I have a feeling, that won't be the case.

"I will give you one last chance to tell me what I want to know." I shower Theo with my authority and power. It makes him squeeze his eyes shut and bite the inside of his mouth. But that alone won't do.

"Name... give her a name and she'll stay." A victorious smile makes its way on to my lips as I watch his ego crumble.

I turn around and I begin to walk the way I came. The camp is silent, the rogues just watch as I walk away. One man in particular catches my eye. Why wouldn't he? It's almost as if he's trying to kill me through his gaze. But not just because of that.

In a speed only an alpha can possess, I'm behind the man. One hand holding his head up, and the other with my nails to his throat.

"No!" Theodore voice echoes through the camp as he runs towards me.

I press my nails into his flesh and I move my hand across his neck. The smell of his diseased blood finds my nostrils before I let the dead body fall on the ground.

"This is for making me ask twice."

"Monster! I'll kill you! I swear I will!" Theo's voice becomes faint as I find my car after walking a few yards. I look at my fingers coated in blood and once I unlock my car, I grab a towel to wipe the blood off.

This man was infected with TCP. He'd die in a matter of weeks but not before infecting the others. None of those lowly rogues would have noticed in time. It's a disease that begins with the wolf getting infected and then it gradually infects the human. It begins by rotting the insides of the host. It's never certain how one gets it, but it's most common in rogues and those that camp together. If anything I did them a favor. That just goes to show that rogues aren't meant to travel in 'packs'.

After throwing the towel away and disinfecting my hands, I drive off and speed to the pack house. I trust Tristan has everything under control but I need to get there. I need to see her.

I had spoken too soon when I said Tristan had everything under control. The first thing I see upon my arrival back is my mate, out in the daylight, running. I watch her from my car and I see Louis. That kid stops her from running and I internally thank him for buying me time. As soon as I'm close of a distance, I get out of my car and I walk towards them.

"Me? Um... no, in the water you're scary but you're pretty when you're not... you know, in the water."

"I am going now-"

"No," she turns around and goddess she is beautiful.

"Yes Vadik," I can tell she's sad about leaving. I close our distance and as soon as I'm close enough, I reach out to touch her perfectly framed face.

"I know you want to go home, but I can't let you do that... I'm giving you a name." She doesn't say anything to make me believe she's against the idea. Instead, she leans her face into the palm of my hand. Does she feel the warmth from my touch? Is she starting to feel our bond?

"It is faint... but was this what you meant?" My heart swells from the joy of her feeling our bond. If she can feel this then she'll want to stay. There's no reason for me to give her a name and forcing her to stay. I don't want to take her freedom from her, I want her to stay by my side because she wants to.

"I won't give you a name." Her eyes open to meet my own, those beautiful blue eyes. Like waves, the blue in her eyes shift and the different hues clash together.

"Why is that?"

"I want you to stay by my side, out of your own free will," I tell her truthfully.

"I want to stay by your side... but I cannot."

"Tell me why?"

"I do not want to feel. In water, I do not feel." I take her face and gently move her head up.

I kiss her.

Smooth succulent lips mold with my own. I feel her breath get caught in her throat as I gently open her mouth with my tongue. Soothing bolts of electricity pass through our tongues, making this the best feeling I've ever known.

"Are you sure about that?" My voice is low but she heard me.

"No, I am not, not anymore."

"Then stay, you can go to the sea as much as you'd like, but promise me you'll come back to me." I try not to plead.

"Why do you say this, when you don't want this? I see your wolf beneath the surface, I feel the possessiveness you two share."

"I... want to do things right. It's very hard trying to keep my alpha dominance at bay. As we speak I want to ravish you and put my mark on your smooth neck. I want to chain you to my side and not let you out of my sight." I'm surprised when she smirks. She enjoys this. I noticed when I threatened Theo in front of her.

"I will stay," she states and a feeling of happiness swells in my chest.

"Then let's go back inside. Where is Tristan?"

"Oh... that's right," she looks up towards the top floor of the house and seconds later, Tristan's Wolf is hopping down the side of the pack house. Once he reaches the ground he transforms.

"Sorry Vadik- Alpha! I tried stopping her but she trapped me against the wall... how did you even do that?" Tristan looks perplexed, to say the least. She's hurt his ego and I'm living for it.

"Vadik..." she looks at me and damn does my name sound great coming from her. "I need to go to the ocean but I will come back."

"Why do you need to go?" I ask her as my hand caresses her cheek.

"I need to feed."

"What do you do? Eat seaweed?" Tristan rudely comments. I'd imagine he's still salty from before.

"No... sharks, octopus, others like me."

"Really?"

"Yes," she takes my hand in hers and breathes in my smell. "Take me to the sea?"

I was already planning to take her myself. And as I drove her closer and closer to the beach, my wolf was suffering from the loss of her. I was too. It's incredibly painful.

"Come back to me alright?" She shows me a smile and leans in to kiss me on my cheek. Sparks pulse where she touched.

"I will."

I watched her walk away from me. She started running at one point. She missed her home. I hope one day, she'll be able to call my home hers.
