Michael's POV
November 12th 1988
I look in the mirror and fiddle with my shirt collar.
"Aww, why so nervous, Applehead?" Shelby said, hugging my waist.
"I don't know, it's just something about having a father-son relationship that scares me. I just really want him to like me. Ya know, I haven't even met him and I already love him," I explained
"Awwwww that's so sweet! But Michael there's no need to worry, he said that he loves your music, so I'm sure he'll love you as a father," she said
"Does he know it's us that's adopting him?" I asked
"Nope, But I think he's gonna flip when he finds out!" She said excitedly
At the orphanage.
"God Shelbs, I've never been more nervous in my life," I say as we wait in the living room of the orphanage.
"Oh stop worrying so much! This kid is gonna love you," She said, holding my arm.
"Okay, Mr. and Ms. Jackson, are you ready to meet your new son?" A heavy set woman asked
"Yes we are," Shelby answered for us.
"Follow me up to his room," she motioned.
I picked up Sofie's carrier as we walked up the narrow staircase.
"Alright it's right here, room 129," She said, leading us to the room.
"How about you go tell him were here first," Shelby asked
"Of course," She said.
We waited in the hall as she went in.
"Matthew, your new parents are here," the woman said
"Thank you Ms. Kathy," a sweet voice said
"Alright, let's do it," I said
We walked in the cramped room, to see a little blond boy sitting on his head, with his mouth open.
"Hi little man, do you know who we are?" Shelby asked, rolling up the sleeves of her cream sweater.
"M-my new dad is M-Michael J-Jackson?!" He stuttered, coming to tears.
"Yep, how are you?" I said, placing Sofie's carrier on the ground and kneeling in front of him.
"I'm good, I-i just can't believe it!" He exclaimed.
"Well it's nice to meet you to, Matthews your name, right?" I asked, knowing the answer.
"Yep, Who is that?" He asked, pointing to Sofie.
"Oh, that's your sister, Sofie. Do you wanna hold her?" I asked
He nodded his head as I gently placed our 5 month old baby in his small arms.
"She's pretty," he laughed
"Yep, she looks just like you," Shelby said, sitting next to him.
"And your name is Shelby, right?" He asked.
"To the world I'm Shelby, but to you, I'm mommy, and that's daddy. Don't you ever forget that, okay?" She said, rubbing his back.
"Okay mommy," He said, tearing up.
"Hey listen. I know you haven't had the best childhood. I didn't either. So my job for the rest of your life is to give you the best one, okay?" Michael said
"So you all really are my new parents?" He cried
"Yep," Shelby said, as we all went into a group hug.
"And we love you so much, don't you forget that," Michael said, kissing his forehead.
15 minutes later
"You all ready to go big man ?" I asked as we were about to leave.
We already did all of the paperwork, so we wouldn't have to wait.
"Yep, I only have a suitcase with a few things though," he said cutely.
"Alright then let's get back to Neverland," I said
I buckled Matthew into the car while Shelby did the same with Sofie.
"Why is she facing backwards?" Matthew asked.
"Oh because she's to little to sit facing forward. It's just safer that way," Shelby explained.
"Oh, soooo um is my last name Jackson now?" He asked nervously.
"Yes sir, so your name is now Matthew Jackson," I said proudly.
"Wow! I like that a lot better then Aniston," he laughed
I loved to hear his little laugh. It made me feel like I was finely happy.
"So what do you want for dinner Matthew? We can get or make whatever you want," Shelby said
"Hmmmm how bout KFC?" He said
"That's my son!" I laughed as I turned the corner.
At Neverland
"Wow! This place is amazing!" Matthew said
"I'm glad you like it! Do you wanna see your room?" I asked him.
"Yes please," he nodded
"Very good manners, Matthew," Shelby said
"Thank you.... mommy," he said cutely.
"Matthew, don't hesitate to call us that. That's what we are. We are your parents. We are here to love you for the rest of your life the way your other parents couldn't, do you understand?" Shelby said, kneeling to his height level.
"Okay," He cried as tears fell down his face.
"Awww don't cry! Now, let's go see that room of yours," I said, picking him up.
"Woah, this is my room?" He exclaimed
"Yes sir," I said, setting him down.
"Wait...... I get my own tv!?!" He questioned
"Well Ms. Kathy said you always wanted one, so we got you one," Shelby explained.
We then ran right up to us and hugged our legs.
"Thank you so much, mommy and daddy. For giving me everything I've ever wanted," he cried
"And what is that?" I asked
"To feel loved," He cried
