From atop my mountain I see them creep near,
opponents and adversaries sneaking about.
Plotting against my love they deceive and strike,
with lashings intended to cripple my hold.
With roused fervor I ready my defenses,
unwilling to surrender my palatial view.
It is my treasure they seek to steal away,
and my ruin they will consider spoils and gain.
My aimed words become like hollow arrows,
which shatter upon impact and find no marks.
My sentiments are deflected by shields of stone,
against which I can find no advantage or hope.
I shall not abscond this defeat but fight to the end,
for my love will know that I fought to the very last.
Hopes and dreams may be mourned but for a while,
until mended wounds strengthen with resolve.
