Chapter 13

When I walked to James' locker, he was leaning his back and head against it, his hands in his pockets, and his eyes closed. He looked like he was sleep. I noticed the girls walking by, looking at him. They were smiling and giggling like they were shy.

It amazed me how nervous they seem around him, even when he's "asleep". I shake my head and head over to him. I stand in front of him for a while, just looking up at his closed eyes.

Would I have said it back? If he told me he loved me, would I have said the same? I never actually thought about us being in love with each other, it's mostly just been like. But I mean, who wouldn't be in love with this guy?

He has all the tracts you'd want in a guy. He's sexy, funny, smart, caring, understanding, generous, and...did I say sexy? How can I NOT be in love with him? Wait, did I just admit I'm in love with him?

And did I just admit to admitting I'm in love with him? Ugh! I'm confusing myself. I shake my head in order to clear it, and decide to get James' attention.

"James," I say, although it sounds more like a question. He licked the bottom of his lips and smile, "Hmm, I love your voice," he says as he straightens his head and opens his eyes.

I don't know why, but that made me smile; no guy has told me he liked my voice before, it's usually along the lines of 'I love you're ass'. When he sees me smile back, he pulls me closer to him, so now I'm standing between his legs as his arms are wrapped around my waist.

He leans in and kisses me softly; we try to keep it PG in school, you know, since it's a non-PDA location. The kiss lasted for at least ten seconds too short, which made me pout, which caused him to chuckled and shake his head.

"We can do more of that later," he assures me. Girls walk past us and smile at James, saying how they can't wait to see him at the party. He just nods and rolls his lips into his mouth. When they notice me, they look at me like I've skinned all their pets. God lee, where's the love in this school? Can't anyone just be happy for us? Is that too much to ask?!

"Speaking of the party, are you going?" James asked me, when the jealous sluts were gone. I think about it for a minute. Yvette really wants me to go, but am I ready to go to another party? James must've taken my confusion as sadness, because he quickly started apologizing.

"Oh, Tracey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up the thing with your parents. I know you haven't been to a party since...I'm so sor--"

"No, it's fine. I'll go to the party. I should be having fun anyway, right?" I tried to explain. He didn't answer me. I looked him in the eyes. I could see a mixture of concern, sorrow, and guilt in his eyes.

"Really James, I'm fine," I say again. He let out a breath I didn't even know he was holding and nodded his head. We kissed one more time before disbursing to our next class.

When I got home from school, I noticed Andrew sitting on the porch. Yvette wasn't home yet, so I guess he was waiting for her. I got out my car and made my way to the front door. "How long have been here waiting for Yvette?"

"Who said I was for waiting her?" he asked following me in as once I opened the door.

"Aren't you?" I questioned as put my bags and walked to the window by the door.

"No, I actually came to visit my bestfriend, since we haven't been spending a lot of time together," he admitted while sitting on the couch. I nodded my head as I opened the blinds, attempting to let some sun light in.

"Okay,"-I sat on the couch facing him, with one of my legs lying bent infront of me while the other hanging off- "let's do some catching up. What's been happening with you?" He shook his head in disagreement.

"Uh uh. I wanna know what's been going on with you," he announced, jabbing his finger on my knee. "So you have a boyfriend," he stated. I nodded my head.

"James. Yep, for a week now, not counting the two weeks we had broken up. But now we're back together, so yeah, a week?"

I don't know why I asked, I guess because I'm kind of confusing myself. James and I's relationship has been an emotional rollercoaster this month.

Andrew just nodded his head before asking, "How long have you known him?"

"About four months now, I guess?" Why do I keep asking, I'm just challenged I guess. Andrew starts laughing, and for a second, I thought I may have said that out loud. I gave him a questioning look, and he shook his head.

"You and this guy have known each other for four months, and you've already dated, argued, broken up, made up and dated again. You guys accomplished something that took me and Vetty three years to do," he says through his laughter. I couldn't help it, I start to laugh. Ever since I was little, Andrew's laugh has always been contagious to me.

It's just one of those, calm, melonic, laughs that make you start; especially when he's laughing really hard, and no sound comes out. When we were younger, all the girls would fall head over heels for him when he laughed, or maybe they just thought he was hot.

Which I'm not going to lie, he is hot. He has ice green eyes that's not too bright, but not too dark. His sandy brown hair is cut short, with little curles. And don't get me started on his muscles.

I mean, he doesn't have as much as James, but he has a pretty nice built. Now, you're probably wondering if we ever dated. Everyone knows that when a male and female are bestfriends, at least once during their friendship one or the other wonders if they could be more than friends. We both did actually.

But we came to an conclusion that it was just too weird; us being all lovey-dovey with each other made friendship awkward. So we decided to drop it, and I introduced him to Yvette; one thing let to another and here we are today.

At that moment, Yvette walked in and looked at us like we were crazy. "Why do I have a feeling that you two were just talking about me?" she asked accusingly. Andrew and I settled down and shook our heads, so shrugged the subject off.

"Anyway, I'll leave you two to not-talking about me. Just come up when you're done Andrew," she said while heading upstairs; she said the first part like she didn't believe us.

Andrew looked at me, more seriously now. "Have you had sex with him?"

I was a little taken aback. "Andrew! That's none of your business!" I announced. I tried to sound serious, but it came out playful. Dang it! I can never be serious around him for long.

"Hey, I use to tell you all the time whenever I had sex! I even told you when I lost my virginity to Michelle Lawless!" he yelled in his defense.

"That doesn't mean I wanted to hear it!" I explained. He stared at me with a blank expression. Damn it! He knows that look always makes me spill out everything. But nope! Not this time buddy-boy!

"I'm not saying," was all I said.

"Wait, aren't you still a virgin?" he accused while pointing a finger towards me. Oh lord, here he goes getting into his big brother mode. Oh that's right, I never told him I lost my virginity to his cousin, Marcus. Ugh...just THINKING his name makes me want to throw up.

I shook my head. A shocked expression covered his face. "With who? James?! When?!" his questions poured out like spilled milk on a kitchen counter.

"No, it wasn't James....it was...um..." I stalled. He raised his eyebrows, urging me to continue. "It was...Marcus," I mumbled softly. Andrew stood up from the couch and crossed his hands on his chest.

"Who?" he asked. I know he heard me correctly, he just need a clarification.

I sighed in defeat. "Your cousin, Marcus."

"Wow," was all he said. His eyes jumped from left to right, as if remembering something. He sat back down on the couch. "Don't be mad Andrew-"

"I'm not mad," he said, looking at me like I'm weird for thinking that. "I'm just shocked. I didn't know you guys were that serious. No wonder way you were so upset when he..." he stopped, knowing that topic was a danger zone.

****

That's pretty much how that night went, Andrew and I telling each other everything that's happened the past couple of years. Yvette came down after a while and joined in.

Anyway, today was the day of the party, and so Yvette, Andrew, James, and I all decided to go to hang out until then. And knowing Yvette and Andrew, they're dying to share with James the most embarrassing things they can think of about me. I would say I'm excited, but I don't want to lie....
