Thirteen: To Town And Back...And Back....And Back

Ava

Even after breakfast I still felt a tingling feeling inside my belly and I couldn't shake it off. My Mates and I had shared a moment of purely blissful pleasure and it had felt right. I had just finished changing when I heard a knock on the bathroom door.

"Coming." I called out as I made my way to the door. I opened it to find the Alphas standing there, Emilio holding up a set of keys.

"This is for the truck in the barn behind the house. The gas tank is full, we will send two guards with you, just for protection purposes and to watch the boy."

Elijah added "If that's not okay with you we understand, but it would make us a little less worried while we are at work in town."

I nodded, taking the keys. "That works fine, thank you for not trying to force it." I smiled as I pecked Emilio on the lips and then Elijah as I made my way through the room to the door.

"Wait." Elijah said. I turned to find him holding a black credit card.

"Here, don't worry about a spending limit, this card doesn't have one." I looked him in the eyes.

"No thanks." I said. His face froze in surprise.

"W-what do you mean no thanks?" he asked, I looked to Emilio who had the same confused look on his face. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my wallet.

"I have my own, thanks." I said before turning and leaving. Before the door closed I called out.

"Have a good day Mates of mine!"

Adrian, the guards, and I made it to the small town at the bottom of the mountains around noon. I parked the American made truck on a strip of parallel parking sidewalks. The sun warmed my skin as we began walking the small strip of clothing stores. I noticed a cute thrift store that I dragged Adrian into.

As we were scouring through the racks I kept peeking over at Adrian. His shoulders were stiff, like he wasn't comfortable.

"Relax kiddo, no body is going to attack you or recognize you." I said. I watched his body freeze for a moment before his body relaxed.

"Tell me about your Mate." I said. "What did she look like? Her personality?" he didn't respond for a moment.

"S-she was beautiful. She had short blond hair, straight and soft. Her face was slim, heart shaped and blemish free. She had dark blue eyes that always seemed to drown me every time I looked in them. Her skin was pale, almost like that princess. Flawless. Her body was petite, but she was strong." He sighed in wonder and I smiled. I leaned over and hugged him tightly.

"I know the feeling will never go away, but if you surround yourself with loved ones, it won't be as bad, at least that is what I have been told. You'll never be able to replace her, but you'll love someone else. Remembering her is okay, but don't let it consume you." I said as I patted him on the back.

"Miss," he turned and looked me in the eyes, a sadness in them. "I can't thank you enough for the kindness you have shown me. I-I owe you everything. Thank you." He said. I smiled.

"Don't thank me yet, we still have to get the pack to accept you fully. But I will do my best." I said as I handed him a handful of clothes.

"Now go try these on!" I said as I pushed him to the fitting room. I was working through racks of clothes for myself, the guards wandering around the shop, when I heard my phone ringing. I pulled it out of my pocket, the realization that I hadn't had service this entire time. The screen showed a private number. I answered it.

"Blaine speaking." I said. I knew who was on the other end, even though they didn't speak for at least twenty seconds.

"Where the hell were you! We've been trying to reach you B!" her voice rose an octave with each word, making me pull the phone from my ear.

"Easy there Cora, I'll go deaf at this rate. I couldn't answer because I've transferred packs and they have no reception." She gasped.

"You mean you've..." she drifted off.

"Yes." I said.

"Who?" she asked, her gossiping side kicking in.

"The Ash Alphas." The line went quiet for a moment.

"Hello?" I asked. The squeal that followed made me drop my phone, causing it to clatter to the floor. I quickly picked it up.

"Jesus Cora, calm yourself."

"I'm sorry! I just. Two Mates, and their Alphas, it's never been heard of. I mean I know you're extraordinary but wow, this is going to make history. I can't wait to tell Councilman Brame." I shook my head.

"What were you really calling me for?" I asked. She sobered up immediately.

"Two days, usual meeting location, 1900 hours."

"Aye aye Captain Cora." I said.

"Talk to you then." She said before we disconnected the call. Just then Adrian stepped out with an armful of clothes. He set some back on the rack.

"They didn't fit?" I asked as I came up beside him.

"They did but I'm only going to get what's necessary, until I can find a job and pay you back." He said. I chuckled as I grabbed all the clothes and walked to the cashier. The young man's eyes bugged nearly out of his head.

"B-but Miss-"Adrian started but I glared at him and he shut his mouth.

"Yes, you will get a job, but you will not be paying me back. Understood?" He gulped as he nodded.

The cashier rang us up and I paid for the clothing quickly before heading to the truck.

"That was quick." Adrian said. I looked over to him.

"We're not done yet." His eyes widened.

"Seriously?" he asked.

"Really?" the guards asked. I laughed.

"Easy there, boys, it's not all for clothes." That seemed to relax them as I put the truck into gear and headed further down the road.

Elijah

My mind wasn't focused on anything but Ava all day and I was pretty sure the same could be said for Emilio. As the CEO's of a fairly large construction company we had meetings or biddings to attend to most days. Most of the employees were pack members, keeping the corporate office tight knit and easy to control.

It was also a good cover for living in the mountains. We were just considered rich folks that wanted to live off the grid and away from the job.

Our last meeting had ended, and Emilio was driving the SUV up the mountain's windy roads.

"You think she'll be home by now?" he asked.

"I hope so, it's almost five and the sun will be setting soon." I said as we reached the dirt road that lead to the pack. Two wolves hid in the forest lines on either side of the trail guarding the path from humans and intruders.

We reached the barn noting a group of pack members surrounding the Alpha house.

"What the hell?" I said aloud. Emilio gave me a look, telling me he was thinking the same thing.

We parked the car and headed to the house quickly. The scent of cooking meat hit my nose as we rounded it to see a beautiful sight.

Our Mate was on her knees surrounded by the pack children as they dug into the ground. Potted plants surrounded them. The scent of citrus and flowers mingled the air with meat. They had already planted a whole row of flowers around the house of various colors. It didn't look chaotic, just decorative.

To the side, Adrian, the pup stood by a brand new, extremely large grill with a few of the older male wolves, showing him flipping strategies. Tables were laid out with covers on them, plastic chairs for every person in the pack.

"Your Mate can shop." We both jumped as the two guards that we sent with them came up beside us.

"How did you get all of this here? That's enough to seat the whole pack...that's over two hundred people." I said. The guard to my left, Peter, lifted a tired brow at me.

"We had to sent four trucks down to pick everything up."

"Something about, livening the place up." The other guard, Ramon, added.

"It seems to be working though." Emilio muttered. Peter nodded in agreement.

"I agree, I haven't seen the pack gathered like this...well, ever."

"And the boy?" I asked.

"He seems like a possibly good addition to the pack." Ramon said.

"We'll see." Emilio said. Just then Ava's head lifted, and she looked directly over to us. She smiled and waved. Both Emilio and I waved back. Then she motioned for us to come to her.

"The pack adores and respects her. She'll be a great Luna, if you guys get to finishing the Bond anytime soon." Peter nudged me with his elbow and I frowned. He laughed.

"Oh, she is making you guys work for it." He chuckled as he and Ramon walked over to the grill. Emilio and I looked to each other, then back to Ava who was already focusing on helping a young girl lift a plant out of a pot safely.

"I don't know if I'll make it to the full moon without begging on my knees." Emilio said.

"Whimp." I said. He turned to me with a frown.

"And you can?" he asked. I looked away from him.

"That's what I thought." He said.

"Let's go, our Mate is calling." I said before heading towards her.
