[Chapter twenty]

"Can't I just put the thing in my backpack?"

"Alright, first of all, the 'thing' is our baby girl and her name is Kamri, okay? And second of all, NO YOU CANNOT PUT HER IN YOUR BACKPACK, NEVAEH!" Max wails, waving his hands around.

"Alright, alright, damn." I throw my arms up in surrender. "...how about I put a leash on it and drag it around?"

"You would be a terrible mother!" He exclaims, snatching the electronic baby doll away from me as we stop at my locker. "And she, Nevaeh. Not an it, she! She is not an It, alright? Our baby is not Pennywise the fucking dancing clown!"

"Okay, shut the fuck up. I get it." I roll my eyes.

The baby doll starts crying as Max hugs it to his chest.

"Shh, baby. Daddy's got you." He tries to get Kamri to be quiet but she just keeps crying her little electronic butt off.

I raise an eyebrow before stepping forward and taking the doll from Max, immediately making her cries stop.

I smirk while looking at Max. "What do you know, little Kamri likes her mommy better."

"Stupid thing." Max grumbles.

"Uhm, Max, our baby girl is not an It, remember. She is not Pennywise the fucking dancing clown." I quote him from earlier, raising a mocking eyebrow.

"Baby girl?" Someone chokes from behind us.

We turn around and see Dylan with wide eyes.

"Calm your man-tits, bro." I start. "We're doing the baby project in Early Childhood."

Max snatches Kamri from me and shoves her in Dylan's face. "Dylan, this is little Kamri, Kamri this is uncle Dildo."

"Dildo?" I choke back a laugh. "Max, you will not teach our daughter such words!"

"Daughter?" Noah's deep emotionless voice comes from behind us.

"Yup." Max smiles widely. "Kamri, meet your uncle Noah, Noah meet Kamri."

Noah raises an eyebrow, looking between Max, Kamri and I before focusing on Dylan.

"They're doing the baby project in Early Childhood." Dylan explains simply.

"Well, good luck with that." Noah says, leaning on my locker.

"Why?" I crinkle my nose up slightly.

Why the hell is he wishing us good luck?

"We did that baby project in Health, freshman year." He shrugs. "Not as easy as you'd think."

All we have to do is take care of an electronic baby doll. How hard could it be?

*~*

Extremely hard. Taking care of a stuPID ELECTRONIC BABY DOLL IS EXTREMELY FUCKING HARD!

Max and I decided that I would take Kamri home with me for the first night and everything was going well until now.

And by now I mean two in the fUCKING MORNING!

THE GODDAMN PIECE OF PLASTIC WON'T STOP FUCKING CRYING.

"Come on, pick up the damn phone, ass clown!" I growl, ringing Max for the thousandth time in the last ten minutes.

It's a good thing my mum decided to go out and get stoned or whatever, because if she were home she would've had my head by now.

I am not about to deal with this little devil-child at two in the damn morning!

I slip my hoodie on, along with a pair of slides before going outside and climbing down the drainpipe next to my balcony.

*~*

"IT'S TWO IN THE FUCKING MORNING, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?! AND WHY THE FUCK CAN I HEAR A CRYING BABY--Carter?" Noah cuts himself off when he sees me standing outside the front door.

He steps outside, shutting the door, before staring at me with an eyebrow raised.

Stop doing that stupid eyebrow raise. You look too hot for your own good!

"This stupid piece of plastic won't stop crying!" I shout.

"What do you want me to do about it?" He questions.

"I don't know, breast feed it, burp it? Just make it stop!" I exclaim, pushing the doll into his muscular chest. The stupid thing stops crying as soon as Noah touches it, making me narrow my eyes.

"Why should I? She's not my electronic daughter." Noah rolls his eyes. "Plus, I told you this would be hard."

What would be hard? Taking care of the baby or your d--

OH MY GOD, SHUT UP, NEVAEH!

"Carter, you're freezing, why the hell did you show up here in booty shorts?" Noah takes note of my shaking figure and the goosebumps on my legs.

"What was I supposed to do? Put on sweatpants?"

"Yes!" He raises his voice before calming down. "Some people were dropped on their heads as babies. You, Carter, were thrown at a damn wall!"

"Hey, I--"

"Just get your arse inside so I can get you a blanket or something before you catch a cold!"
