xox alex

"Even though I've barely known Nash Grier for 24 hours, I feel like I know almost everything about him─he doesn't eat the crust on his pizza, he likes to climb trees just to jump out of them, and for fun he watches reruns of Friends."

»

It seems like I had absolutely nothing to wear. I thumbed through endless racks of clothing and still found nothing that caught my eye. I sighed as I looked back over everything, checking once again to see if I liked anything. Still nothing.

Finally, I came across a long stretched black tshirt. It came to about mid thigh and flowed like a regular dress. It was a soft fabric that made it comfortable and stylish. I slid into it, making sure it still fit. Thank God it did.

I slipped on my diamond ring my grandmother gave me before she passed away and quickly repainted my nails a navy color. Once they dried, I touched up on my makeup just a bit, not wanting too much on. Then, I put on my black high top Converse and brushed my hair. Once I looked somewhat presentable, I grabbed my phone and walked out my bedroom door.

"Bye!" I yelled to dad hurriedly, not wanting him to give me another lecture that I had heard a thousand times before as I was almost out the door.

"Hey! Wait, Missy!" He said. Shit.

I turned around, facing him with a fake smile. "Yes, daddy?"

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Don't do anything stupid. I don't want my─"

I cut him off. "I know, I know! You don't want your child to become a mother at age 16. You don't want me to drink especially if I plan on driving home. You don't want a call from the police station at 2 in the morning notifing you that I have been arrested," I quoted from memory. "But, most importantly you want me to have fun but stay safe, right?"

He looked at me blankly. "Damn. You're good at this whole father-daughter talk thing."

I kissed his cheek. "I'm a pro."

He chuckled. "Be back before midnight, okay, W?"

I nodded, rolling my eyes. "Ok. See ya at 2. Love you!" He shot me a look. "Kidding! I'll be home by Midnight. Promise." I gave him another kiss to the cheek.

"Make good decisions!" He shouted to me as I stepped outside.

I hopped into my car and sped off to Cameron's house. It was weird that I knew exactly how to get there but this wasn't the first party I've been invited to. In fact, if we're keeping count, I've been invited to aproximately 13 parties since freshman year when he laid eyes on me by my locker. People swear that we "hook up" but Cameron and I knew better.

He was the type of guy that got exactly what he wanted, if not better. He was that guy. The one that drove every girl at school crazy, especially the cheerleaders. He could persuade teachers and adults to do anything for him with a flash of his perfect smile. He wasn't exactly a dick, but he sure could get in your head.

I found myself aimlessly thinking about random things. When I came back to reality, I was in front of The Dallas Mansion. Even though I've been here before, my jaw still dropped and I had to shut my mouth with my hand.

I quickly got out of the car and straightened my dress. I made sure I had my phone before I walked up the front steps. I could hear the music booming from the inside as I neared. A few wasted teenagers ran in front of me and into the woods beside the house. I shook my head as I stepped inside.

What seemed like the entire school was at this party. People were everywhere you looked─some drinking, some talking, some taking pictures, some dancing and probably some upstairs doing God knows what.

I made my way to the kitchen, thinking I would find Ashley there. She was a major drinker. There have been countless times where Gwen and I literally drag her to her house. When I walked in, there were even more people. I sighed and pushed through the bodies. "Excuse me," I mumbled every now and then.

It was when I finally reached the center of the kitchen that I saw him sipping from a Red Solo cup, his blue eyes even brighter from the party atmosphere. Nash Grier.

I smiled to myself, hoping I wasn't blushing when his eyes locked with mine. His eyes skimmed my body as he smirked and waved me over. "Hey," He said once I was close enough to hear him.

"Hey." I hopped up on the kitchen island beside him, our knees bumping.

"What you brings you here?" He asked, taking a slow sip from his cup.

"I'd ask you the same question." I giggled, hoping I wasn't trying too hard. He flashed me a smile which answered my question. "Cameron invited me, actually."

"Oh, really?" Nash rested his right hand on his knee, leaning forward slightly and smiling again.

"Yep. So, why exactly are you here?" I reached behind me and grabbed a cup from the stack, filling it with beer from a keg beside me.

"Cameron is a friend of mine," He said.

"Ahh. You two don't really seem like people that would be friends to me, honestly."

His eyes scanned the crowd of people around us. "Oh? And why is that?"

"He's all Mr. Popular and you're all Mr. Mysterious."

He laughed loudly. "Mr. Mysterious? I'm mysterious?"

I nodded, blushing slightly. "Yeah."

"How?"

I shrugged. "I don't know much about you, Nash Grier."

He smiled. "You know my name. That's a start."

"And that's it. You know so much about me."

"What exactly do I know so much about again?"

I thought long and hard. "Lots of things. Now tell me about yourself." I rested my head on my palms.

He threw his head back and laughed as he thought about things to tell me. "I'm 17. I'm home schooled. My favorite color is blue." He tapped his finger on his chin as a girl shoved against our legs as she passed. "That's basically it."

I nodded slowly, squinting my eyes at him. "Fair enough," I said.

He chuckled and took another sip of his drink. "Guess so."

"So, you're a drinker, too?" I raised my cup to show my beer.

He shook his head, dipping his cup down to display a clear liquid. "Water."

I raised my eyebrows at him. "No alcohol?"

He smirked. "Not tonight."

I nodded, smiling at him. Something about him made me never quit smiling. My cheeks were hurting. "Let's dance."

He seemed taken aback before he chuckled. "Alright." He set his cup down, sliding off the kitchen island and holding his hand out for me. "My lady." He bowed to me.

I giggled and placed my smaller hand in his. "Thank you, kind sir," I said as he helped me hop off the table without flashing my privates.

He led me into the living room where people were seated on the couch, talking and drinking. Many people crowded the room, dancing relentlessly. He stopped at a semi open space and turned back towards me. "I cant dance, by the way," He shouted in my ear, trying to talk over the music.

I laughed. "Me either."

He began to what seemed like twerk against a random guy. The boy turned to look at Nash but Nash was too busy dancing like a fool. I laughed until my side hurt. I joined in on the terrible dancing as Nash was doing "The Shopping Cart." We danced crazy and didn't care if people stared. We were having fun.

The fun came to an end when Cameron made his way over to us, making the dancing cease. I tried to hide my disapointment with a fake smile. "Willow, so glad you could make it!" Cameron told me.

I looked at Nash, who didn't seem very comfortable. "Me too. I'm having alot of fun!" I smiled at Nash to try to calm him down.

Cameron seemed to notice the tension as well. "Well, I'll see you guys around." I nodded. "And, Nash?"

Nash looked up. "Yeah?"

Cameron smiled at him. "Have fun."

»

I took a big bite of my pizza, looking out at Cameron's large back yard, filled with more people. There was a large underground pool near the porch with cups and who knows what else littering the top. Nash and I were sitting on the railing of the porch, overlooking a bunch of trees and eating pizza.

"So, um, what happened back there? With Cameron, I mean."

Nash set his pizza back on his plate. "What do you mean?"

"There seemed to be tension between you two," I watched as an intoxicated petite girl ran past us, followed by one of our football players.

Nash shrugged. "It's just everytime I like a girl and they meet Cameron, they always go for him."

I blinked. "Oh."

He weakly smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "Yeah." He took another bite of pizza, leaving only the crust left.

"You don't eat the crust?"

He made a disgusted face. "Ew. No. It tastes like cardboard."

I laughed at his comparison. "You don't find cardboard to be greatly appetizing?"

He laughed. "Absolutely not."

I smiled at him. "Shame. I thought it was rather delicious."

"Willow," he said.

"Yeah?"

"Your name is just really interesting─Willow."

I chuckled. "Um. Okay?"

"Let's go climb a tree," Nash said randomly, jumping down from the railing and helping me down as well.

"You're a strange one, Nash Grier."

"You're even stranger, Willow Raynes." He smiled at me, a small dimple popping from each corner of his lips.

We silently walked to a small patch of trees behind Cameron's house as the music from inside seemed to die down as we walked further away. Nash's hands were jammed into his pockets. As he walked, he kept his eyes transfixed on the ground, not daring to make eye contact. We found a sturdy tree and decided it was the best choice.

"You go first," He said, bending over so he could give me a boost.

I nodded, placing my foot in his hands, cheerleader style and hoisted myself up towards the strong branches. Nash whistled as I began to climb and I remember I was in a dress. Shit.

"Stop!" I screamed, a blush creeping onto my cheeks. "Close your eyes."

He nodded, folding his hands over his eyes to sheild myself from him as I climbed high and higher. I found a long branch that was sturdy enough for the both of us and sat down, dangling my feet.

"Can I look now?" Nash called from the bottom of the tree.

"Yeah, you can." He removed his hands and began to climb until he was sitting next to me.

We both watched the lights of the party flash through the trees. It was mesmirizing and pretty. I soon felt a wave of sleepiness rush through my body, making me rock back and forth, my eyes threatening to shut. Nash noticed my sleepy state.

"Do you want me to drive you home?"

I shook my head. "I'm fine." I carelessly laid my head against Nash's shoulder. "Just talk to me."

"What do I say?" I could sense his smirk.

I shrugged lightly. "Anything."

He nodded, thinking deeply. "I like to watch reruns of Friends."

I smiled. "Me too. Boy Meets World and Full House are my favorite though."

Nash chuckled. "Willow, I think you should go home."

"But─" I whined, my sleepiness making me almost cry from frustration. "I don't wanna leave."

I felt my eyes fluttering closed. "Wait! Stay awake, okay?" He asked.

I nodded as he shifted. "Sometimes, just for the heck of it, I climb trees to jump out of them. So," He monitored the ground below. "It looks like we're only a few feet in the air. I'll jump and you can jump down and I'll catch you."

I nodded, yawning as he swung his legs out from the tree, lunging forward like a cat and landing with a thud with both feet against the ground. He held his arms out. "Okay, Willow, now jump."

I squirmed from the tree and jumped forward, trying to copy his actions but failing miserably. I flew into the air and fell on top of something soft. I looked up to see Nash's blue eyes looking down at me. "I think you fell on me."

I looked around to see that I had. Our legs were tangled and his arms were around my waist. I laughed at how awkward this was. He began to laugh too and when I looked into his eyes again, it was different. They were brighter and more full of life. "Your eyes are freakishly blue," I pointed out.

He laughed, pulling me up. "I get that alot." He draped an arm over my shoulder as we walked back towards the party. "Let's get you home."
