Zachary's POV
It's her...She can't know it's me...
*REWIND A COUPLE HOURS BEFORE*
My father, the King, went to visit another place well my mother and I stayed back. Vanessa was coming again to talk. My mother made me stay put. I was planning on seeing Claire but, my mother threw this at me so I guess this is what I am doing.
Knock Knock
"Who is it?" I asked
"Sir, Princess Vanessa of Kingston is here," My guard said
"Oh...Ok. I'll meet her in the courtyard" I replied
"Yes sir," He said walking away
I don't want to marry her. I want to see where things go with Claire. I haven't seen her in weeks. She was so easy to talk to not only that she doesn't know who I am so she doesn't give me special treatment. I walked to my mirror and made sure I was looking OK. Not that I cared. I walked out and made my way to the courtyard. I walked over to the bench where Vanessa sat.
"What did you want?" I asked trying to be sweet
"Is that how you treat a Princess, oh wait no, Your future wife" She chuckled
"I am not marrying you" I stated
"And what makes you think you have a choice?" She asked with an evil smile
"I know I have a choice. I am not going to marry a cold-hearted woman" I replied back with an attitude
"Excuse me? Who was at the children's charity event last month?" She remarked
"You didn't come for the children. You came for the photo's and have your face all over!" I shouted
Children Charity events were something I don't mess with. Kids are the future. I want these kids to live happily. Vanessa was in EVERY PHOTO. Not with the children but, with the high state people.
"Well I brought you a gift but, I will give it to you when you treat me like your wife that I am," She said loudly
"Well I guess that will be never because I am not putting a ring on the finger" I spat
"How dare you! I can make it hard for you to show your face! I have everyone on the tip of my finger, I can make you look evil!" She said walking towards me
"Do what you want! I still will never put a ring on your finger" I replied with a fake smile
Truly I am worried. I am becoming King soon and I can't my parents last days hell because of me.
"Ugh, You are unbelievable" She stomped off
"Oh and Vanessa?" I said turning towards her
"Yeah?" She said with hope in her eyes
"Don't trip with that dress on...Oh and don't let the doors hit you on the way out. It wouldn't be good for me" I smirked
"Ugh" She walked off
I could see the steam coming out of her ears. I walked back in and I hurried into my room before my mother could speak to me. I walked into my room and closed the doors.
I could hear heels pounding against the floor.
She was coming.
I need to get out of here.
Knock Knock
"Open up" She yelled
"I am busy" I replied
"I know your not! Open up" My mother yelled
"I can't," I said
"Why?" She asked
"Because I know why you're here so you can just go," I said near the door
"Is this how you treat the Queen?" She asked
"No, I treat her and my mother the same because they are the same," I remarked
It went silent...I think she left...
"Son comes, we have much to talk about...How about dinner at Clos Maggiore?" My mother asked
I do love that place...but, I know she is going to talk about Vanessa and I don't want to.
"I don't feel like going mother" I replied
"We leave in 2 minutes," She said walking out
Why do I even bother...She always has her mind made up. I walked out and we made our way to the limo. Our guards joined in, they went to the 2 other cars and we had two guards with us. We made our way over. It was DIE silent. Not a word was said. I knew she was waiting to attack.
BACK TO THE PRESENT
Claire was on my guard's shoulder. I so wanted to get her down and yell at my guard but, doing that she would know I was the Prince and I am not ready for that. The manager came running out.
"I am so sorry your highness," He said
GET ME IN QUICK I mouthed
He nodded
"Queen and Prince please follow," He said
My guard put Claire down and made her look the other way.
"Let go of me you Monster" She yelled
It took everything me not to go and stop him. He was going to get in trouble.
"Your Highness" The old lady replied
I nodded and hurried in. My mother was already sitting in her chair. She was angry I could tell.
"He can't handle women like that" I stated sitting down
"I don't care about her, What I care about is that you didn't listen to me!" She yelled
"Mother, You can't go and decide what and what I can not do" I replied
"I am your mother Zach," She said "You're my son"
"Really? You make me seem like your puppet" I remarked
"I want whats best for you" She smiled
"Really? So you think marrying Vanessa is going to make me happy?" I asked
"Darling, I once loved another man but, I couldn't be with him because my mother and father wanted me to marry your father, I was angry. I knew I would never be happy again...but, once we got married I had to learn to love him and I did. I love him deeply. I am glad they put us together"
"Well, I am sorry I am not like you" I stood up "I may be your son but, I am the Prince who is going to take the throne and I have to be a role model for the children. You think by me marrying someone I don't love to get what I want is something right?"
"They're not like you" She chuckled
"You don't get it" I stated
"If you are taking Throne then you WILL marry her," She said "YOU are taking THRONE SO YOU WILL MARRY HER"
"Why her?" I asked
"I-I" She went silent
"Tell me why her?" I asked
