I wake up to my alarm being played really loudly in my ears. I jump and quickly take my headphones off before turning my alarm off. Great, another school day. Note the sarcasm guys. I get up and walk back into my room. I start getting ready for the day. I had forgotten about my cuts until I got some water on my arm and it started stinging. I ran into my room and grabbed my bracelets and put them on. After that I packed my school bag and went onto my laptop. I checked Facebook and Twitter before turning it off and packing it into my school bag.
“Madie, hurry up and let’s go,” I hear Ashton say. He’s quite loud.
“Yeah, I’m coming down now,” I yell back and grab my bag before walking downstairs.
“Hey Madie,” they all say at once.
“Hey guys,” I say and we head out the door.
The boys walked up to me and gave me hugs. I was happy that I have them in my life but I still didn’t trust the boys fully yet.
“What’s with all the bracelets?” Luke asks me. I didn’t think about this properly. Quick Madie, make up some believable lie.
“Oh, you know, just because this uniform is so damn ugly. I thought I might add a little bling,” I say and smiling up at him.
“Good choice. As long as you don’t get told to take them off,” Luke says and chuckles a little.
“I’ll argue with them until they let me keep them on. They can’t make me take them off. Even if I get a detention I still won’t take them off,” I say just as we walk into the school gates. We all walked to our spot and started talking about a few things until the bell rang.
“What do you have today, Madie?” Calum asks me while we walk together to our homeroom.
“Uh, Math, English, Woodwork and Art,” I say while looking at my timetable.
“You do woodwork?” He asks.
“Yeah, why?”
“Well most of the girls here choose not to do it because they hate it or something,” he says.
“Well I’m obviously not most girls. I love woodwork,” I say.
“Luke was right, you’re definitely different. He said you’re a good different,”
“Really? He says that to me a lot,” I say.
“Yeah well we’ve chosen a good friend for once,” he says and I look up at him.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Every other girl’s that we’ve been friends with have always been the same, girly type person. They hate getting their hands dirty and we can never do fun stuff with them. And then you come along and say you like woodwork, roller blading and you probably like a few other stuff. It’s not a bad thing. I reckon you might actually help us a bit. Especially Luke,” Calum says and we stop walking once we get to our homeroom.
“What do you mean by help him a bit?” I ask him and he all of a sudden tensed.
“Uh, well, it’s not my place to say. He should be the one that tells you when he’s ready,” Calum says and we both take a seat.
“Okay, well I’ll see you at lunch,” I say to him just as the bell went. He nods and we go our opposite ways. Yeah, homeroom only goes for about 5-7 minutes.
I walk to my first class of the day in silence. It wasn’t nice and comfortable. I was being picked on again. It’s been about a month since I came here and I’m still getting teased and stuff. As I walk through the halls, I try my best to ignore them. But one definitely got to me.
“Hey Madie, you know everyone, including the boys, hate you. You knew that, right?” I turn around and saw a girl with reddish hair and a pile of make-up on.
“Of course I knew that,” I say with pure sarcasm.
“Oops, sorry. Well I’m terribly sorry you had to find that out from me,” she says to me and grins.
“You’re just like the rest of them, aren’t you?” I ask.
“The rest of who?” she asks.
“The rest of the girls here. You’re one of those stuck up princesses that think you rule everything when you really don’t. You’re one of the ones that throws themselves at a guy then change to another guy the next day. You’re someone that gets enjoyment out of bullying people because they are basically nothing to you. You like to make people feel as miserable as possible then laugh at them. You love to go to parties and get so drunk that you decide to pretend you’re staying at a friend’s place when really you’re just sleeping with random guys,” I say.
“I’ve never done any of that stuff and never will. You’ve got it all wrong little miss perfect,” she says.
“Actually you are one of those people,” someone says and I turn to see Ashton standing behind me.
“You wouldn’t know crap Irwin,” she says.
“Melissa, why don’t you go running to your daddy and get him to help you out of this one?” he says.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” the girl, Melissa, asks.
“It means that you can’t handle this being told to you so you have to get your rich dad to come and help you. It also means that Madie is far from perfection. Her whole life is far from perfection,” Ashton says and I couldn’t help but laugh at her face after he said that. “Oh, and please take off all that make-up. Usually girls look prettier without make-up. You should try it some time,”
“Irwin, just get the hell away and go suck off someone face,” she says.
“Is that your comeback?” he asks and everyone around laughs. “I don’t go around using people like you.”
“No, my comeback is that little miss perfect here can’t defend for herself so she has to have someone like you saving her,” she says with a smirk on her face.
“It’s called helping, not saving. I know your stupid but I didn’t think you were that stupid,” he says and her smirk goes away.
“I’m not stupid!” she yells and stomps her foot on the ground like a little kid.
“Yeah, you are,” I say and she glares at me.
“Who asked you? You’re just a pathetic girl that needs to understand that no one likes you. Let me guess what’s under those bracelets. Scars? Did you cut again? When was the last time you cut? Did you cut to get attention?” she was saying all this while walking up close to me. She was a few inches taller.
“Under the bracelets is just skin. So you got that all wrong,” I lie.
“So you wouldn’t mind me checking, would you?” she asks me but before I could react, she grabs my arm and move some of the bracelets. I tried to pull away but it didn’t work. “These were only done last night or this morning, weren’t they?”
“Fine, yeah they were done last night. If you knew half the crap that I have been going through then you would understand why,” I say and try to pull my arm out of her grip but she just grips it harder causing it to sting.
“Why did you lie to us Madie?” Ashton asks me.
“Do you really think I want my only friends to judge me the way everyone else would. I’ve been judged way too much,” I reply.
“I wouldn’t judge you. I’m not someone that judges people,” he says.
“I’m just going to go to class. I don’t want to be late,” I say and walk off. I get to my class and noticed everyone is already inside so I had to knock before entering.
“Miss Hales, why are you late?” my math teacher asks me.
“Sorry sir, I got caught up with things,” I say and he nods. I walk over to my seat and take out my books. This was going to be a long day.
