The next day they send Gray home, not feeling the need for psych evaluation because of the situation.
We stop and get Grayson's stuff and then go back home to Morgantown.
Grayson is ecstatic to be home.
He sets up his room almost immediately and my mom and I sit down.
"God. What is going on anymore.", she sighs.
"Don't do that. He's okay, you're gonna win custody, I'm doing a magazine shoot, and going on a date. Everything is okay.", I try to assure her.
"You're going on a date?", she asks.
I forgot I didn't tell her.
"A second one.", I smile at her.
"Who's the lucky guy?", she asks.
"Awsten."
"Purple hair?", she asks excitedly.
I laugh, "Yup."
"He's a cutie! And he seems nice."
"Sure is. We went into the woods and he set up a table and made food and had rose petals and fairy lights and ah. It was so cute. He's coming down Saturday night and then we're gonna hang out and go back on tour Tuesday.", I explain.
"Awe. That's so cute."
Grayson runs downstairs and asks, "Can we play a game?"
"Sure, which one?"
"Black Ops so I can kick your butt.", he smirks.
"Definitely my little brother."
For the next week we play games, watch movies, and spend quality family time with each other.
I'm kinda sad when Saturday night comes.
"Do you really have to go?", Grayson asks.
"Yes, but I'll call you and text you a lot. It's only 5 more months and I'll be home a couple times before then.", I explain.
He sighs but hugs me.
Delaware is only a half an hour away from Morgantown so luckily I don't have to rush to pick Awsten up from the airport.
"Bye I love you.", Grayson says.
"Byeee I love you too.", I say and hug him.
Then I hug my mom and say I love you.
I leave my house once again with nothing but hope that she can get custody.
Before I know it, I arrive at the airport.
Do I buy him roses?
Food?
I'm not sure how to do this cliche picking up from the airport scene.
Before I can decide what I'm going to do, I see his purple hair.
I walk, practically run, up to him and hug him tightly.
"Aws!", i exclaim as he's still wrapped in my arms.
"Hi cutie.", he smiles at me.
"I missed you.", i say without thinking.
"I missed you too.", he hugs me quickly again.
"Want food?", i ask as we walk out of the airport with his arm wrapped around me.
"I'm not gonna say no to it.", he says.
We get in the rental car and I drive us to Dunkin' Donuts.
Awsten orders a veggie wrap with coffee and I order a tea.
"How's your brother?", he asks.
"He's okay. Apparently he came out as gay and that's what started everything. But my mom's going for custody so he'll be okay.", I explain the situation.
"Well that's good that she's trying to get him. I don't see why they would say no.", he says.
I nod and he finishes eating.
"I'm so tired.", I complain.
"Want me to drive?", he offers.
"Do you know where the hotel is?", i ask.
He nods.
"Switch.", i say and we switch positions.
I barely said two words before I fell asleep.
The next thing I know I wake up in a hotel bed and the room is dark other than the phone light thats coming from the couch.
I sleepily turn on the light and see Awsten laying on the couch.
"Why are you on the couch? You can sleep in the bed.", i ask.
"Because I didn't know if you'd be comfortable with it."
"Yeah, I don't mind.", i say.
He gets off the couch and climbs into the bed next to me.
"What are you watching?", i ask as I hear laughing coming from his phone.
"Some video Geoff sent to me. It's a guy who scares his grandma all the time.", he states.
"He sounds great.", i say sarcastically.
Awsten laughs and I slowly drift off to sleep to the sounds of screaming and laughing.
The next morning I wake up and Awsten's arms are wrapped around me.
I smile at the thought of waking up like this everyday.
"Aws, wake up.", I make the bed move.
He groans and pulls me closer.
I don't think he realizes what he's doing.
I laugh, not caring, "I have to start getting dressed and I can't do that with you restraining me."
He talks into the pillow, "That sounds bad."
"Shush, you know what I mean."
He sighs and lets go of me.
"Thank you. You should get up too if you want to come with me."
He slowly gets up from the bed while I go into the bathroom and take a shower.
When I get out I realize that I forgot to bring my clothes in the bathroom.
Shit.
I open the door a crack and yell out, "Aws, can you give me my bag?"
He says yeah and hands me my bag.
Huh.
My ex would always push his way into the bathroom, but Awsten didn't.
Maybe this is gonna work out.
I quickly get dressed and brush my hair and then walk into the room.
"Can you hand me my shirt?", he asks me.
I hand it to him and he quickly changes and we're on our way.
