Alec's POV
"Izzy, are the diagrams coming good? ", Max asks, turning to face Izzy.
"Yeah, yeah", she says, waving her hand, dismissively.
"Jace, you should improve your handwriting, my teacher will think I'm illiterate", he says, looking at Jace's paper.
He glares at Max for a moment but continues writing Max's homework.
"So, Max, today we're gonna learn math", I say.
"I don't like math. Math is difficult", he says, crossing his arms.
"We'll solve the easy sums. Let's try subtraction", I say, looking at Max.
"Fine", he says.
"Let's say, Izzy made 5 cookies and you ate 2, what do you have now? ", I ask.
"A stomachache and several broken teeth? ", he asks, looking at me innocently and Jace and I burst out laughing.
"Good one, Max", I say, breathless and he smiles at me.
"Hey. That was rude, Max", Izzy protests.
"Truth hurts, Izzy", Jace says, holding a chair for support and clutching his stomach.
"Alec, am I such a bad cook? ", Izzy asks, looking at me.
"You're not a bad cook, you're a terrible cook", I say and Max and Jace start laughing again.
"Oh, shut up you two", she says, rolling her eyes and I see the small smile she's holding back.
"That way too much sass for a ten year old. Good job, Max", Jace says, high fiving Max.
"Yeah, I don't remember the last time I laughed so much", I say, hugging Max.
"But, you should apologize to Izzy, see she's angry", I say and Max walks up to her.
"I'm sorry, Iz", he says, hugging her.
"Aw, it's okay, Max", she says.
"I won't tell you, you're a terrible cook even if it's the truth", he says and Jace and I burst out laughing again.
"Enough, boys", Izzy says in a stern voice and both of us shut up.
"Okay, so, Max. Let's do addition then. Solve these sums", I say, writing a couple of sums on a sheet of paper.
"Okay", he says and starts solving them.
"Um Alec? ", Elena asks as she enters my house.
"Oh hey Elena. Is everything okay? ", I ask.
"Magnus drank a bit too much and is a bit um er disoriented. Could you help me a bit? ", she asks.
"Yeah, yeah sure", I say.
"Elena, stay for a cup of tea, I'm sure Alec can take care of Magnus", Izzy says.
"Yeah, I'll go with Alec. Don't worry, Elena", Jace says.
"Thank you so much, boys", she says.
"Why are you accompanying me, Jace? ", I ask, looking at him suspiciously.
"Nothing, Alec. I just wanted to help you", he says.
I raise my eyebrow at him but don't say anything.
"Magnus? ", I call as I enter his house.
"Alexander! ", he shouts in a dramatic voice and jumps into my arms.
"I missed you", he says as I try to recover from the force of his hug. His face is buried in my chest and his hands are wrapped around my waist tightly.
"Um Magnus, this is getting a bit weird. Can you let go of me? ", I ask.
"No, I won't. I'm gonna protect you from the world. I'll be your knight in shining armor. Do you want me to kill anyone? ", he asks, looking at Jace suspiciously.
"No. Don't kill Jace. He's my brother", I say, a smile threatening to form on my lips.
"Okay. I'll protect you from all the miseries in the world", he says, puffing his chest out and fighting air with his imaginary sword.
"I'm fine, Magnus. I'm not hurt", I say, biting my lower lip to stop myself from laughing. Over dramatic Magnus was honestly adorable.
"No, you're lying. You're hurt. Tell me who hurt you, Alexander. I'll stab them with my sword. The people who hurt you don't deserve to live", he says.
"Jace, shouldn't we? ", I start, turning to look at him and realize with a shock what he's doing.
"Jace, are you recording all this? ", I ask.
"Yeah, it would be a good source of entertainment", he says, his face glowing with amusement.
I curse him under my breath and turn to Magnus.
"Um Magnus, shouldn't you go to sleep?", I ask.
"But, who'll protect you then? ", he asks, looking at me, innocently.
"You're tired now. You can protect me in the morning", I say.
"You know, Alexander. Everyone hurts you but I won't hurt you. I'll protect you until my last breath", he says, holding his imaginary sword high in the air.
"Um thanks? ", I say, looking at him in confusion.
"Call me your knight in shining armor", he says.
"My knight in shining armor, let's go to bed now", I say.
"Alexander, I think your eyes are beautiful like the night sky you know", he says.
"Yeah, I know", I say.
"Can I get a good night kiss? ", he asks, looking up at me.
"What? ", I ask, shocked.
"A good night kiss, Alexander. I can't sleep without it. You called me your knight in shining armor, but won't give me a goodnight kiss? I protected you, Alexander", he says, looking as though he's been hurt.
"Go to sleep, Magnus. I'll give you one tomorrow ", I say, looking warily at Jace whose face looks like his favorite comedy show is on.
"You promise? ", he asks.
"Yeah", I say.
"Do you love your knight in shining armor? ", he asks.
"Do I love my knight in shining armor ? ", I ask, looking at him perplexedly.
"Because, I like you, Alexander. I'll burn the whole earth down for you. I'll move mountains and raise seas. I'll make the sun rise in the west for you. I'll give up my life for you. I'll die a thousand times to live with you once", he says, and I'm not so sure if this is Overdramatic Magnus or honest Magnus.
"Uh. That's very Um impressive Magnus. So, come let me put you to bed", I say.
"Can I hug you then? ", he asks.
"Uh Magnus", I say but he is already hugging me.
"Magnus", I say, shaking him but he has already passed out on my shoulder.
"God", I say and drag him into his bedroom and pull his covers over him.
"Jace, if this video gets out", I say, raising a threatening finger against him.
"Oops. I already sent it to Izzy", he says, smirking.
I curse under my breath.
"Language, big brother", Jace says, looking at me.
"So, you're still gonna tell you both are just friends?", he says as we enter our house.
"Thank you so much for your help, boys", Elena says as we flop down on our couch.
"The pleasure was ours, Elena", Jace says and I hate the amusement in his voice.
"Alec", Izzy starts.
"I'm tired. I'm going to bed. Max, go to bed, you've school tomorrow", I say and disappear into my bedroom before Izzy can say a word.
I closed my eyes and tried to think of nothing. But, all I could think was Magnus and what he said.
It was well after midnight when I finally fell asleep with a huge smile on my face. He was adorable, no matter what.
