I'm riding with Chres over to his house because his mom wanted to see me. I was excited to see her even though I've seen her I don't know how many times. Hopefully she's in a good spirit especially after seeing that Cortez is out of rehab. Cortez is Chres's older brother, he was a good guy he graduated in honors and planned to go to the army he left for basic training and came back acting...odd. Found out he's been on drugs and it's been downhill with him ever since. I see the demeanor in Chres is different, he's a lot more jittery than usual. Maybe because he's scared that Cortez might pop up on them again. Who knows. He never tells me that stuff his mom does.
"She's been talking about how she misses her other child ." I laughed at his statement.
"I missed mama too. It's been a minute." We pulled up to the house and got up walking to the front door where he opened and closed it behind me.
"Ma?! Where are you?! " he yelled.
"Kitchen! What you want boy?! " he sucked his teeth and I laughed and he spoke again.
"Come here I have a surprise!" I hear her mumbling and walking to the door and I laughed. She saw me and her eyes widened.
"My babbyyyy you didn't tell me one of my favorite girls was here !" She hugged me and we both laughed .
"See you were about to cuss him out ma ." She shrugged.
"He would've deserved it. Besides I thought he was fussing about the one heffa Danielle-" he cut her off.
"Desiree momma " she glared at him.
"Desiree gon get you slapped don't cut me off." He got quiet and she looked at me smiling again.
"How you been babygirl haven't seen you in awhile was it because of my son?" I didn't wanna get Chres in trouble but I couldn't lie to her.
"Half and Half there's stuff going on for the both of us so we just haven't been communicating." We went to the living room and sat in the couch .
"Well shoo boy I gotta catch up with my other child." I laughed as Chres walked away but I could see the smile on his face.
"So what's new boo?"
"Well I have a boyfriend now ." She looked surprised.
"Who is it?" I smiled thinking of him.
"Corey. Corey Williams . You know his mom Ms. Linda ?" She made a thinking face .
"Ouuuu he's a nice young man handsome too." I groaned.
"Don't be crushing on my boyfriend ma ." She laughed and lightly hit my shoulder.
"No lovely I'm just saying he's not hard on the eyes . " I made a face and she laughed.
"I can't give a compliment?"
"Whateva you say ma ."
"But you let me know if he on foolishness and I'll straighten him out ." Chres popped out the cut.
"We both will." I rolled my eyes. Ma spoke up .
"I knew your nosey ass was ease dropping, you you're mother's child." I laughed.
"I was just passing through."
"Upstairs Chresanto." He jogged upstairs and I couldn't stop laughing.

"So I was talking to D and he thinks we should have you in the studio too." Corey told me when we were sitting in the car. I looked at him crazy.
"I can't sing . I'm not talented like y'all and-"
"Girl shutup with that lying . Listen baby I heard you sing before and your voice is beautiful and you need to be heard ." I bit my lip thinking.
"I'm scared.." he put his hand on my thigh.
"Just try it once, and if you don't like it I won't bring it up again." Now we know he's lying but I guess he was tryna get me to go so why the hell not?
"Alright fine. When we doing this?" He beamed.
"Foreal?" I nodded.
"No like Foreal?"
"Corey Ima slap you ." He leaned over and kissed me.
"I can't wait to tell D he gon have the tracks ready and maybe we can do a song together or maybe-"
"Babe?" He stopped babbling and looked at me. He has the same tendency I do. Babble when he's excited or nervous.
"Huh? Sorry." I shook my head laughing at him.
"When you wanna do this?" He shrugged.
"How you don't know?"
"I honestly wasn't expecting to get this far. But I guess I was wrong. We can do a trial run right now that way if it's successful bro can work on some beats for you." I nodded .
"I hope it's successful."
"It will be successful. " he said putting his index finger under my chin. I smiled a little but couldn't help but be nervous.
"So that's where we going?" He nodded cranking up the car and pulling off.

"I knew your lil ass would come !" Dillyn said as we walked in the studio and I cut my eyes.
"Why my height gotta be brought into this ?" He laughed and put his hands up in surrender.
" Where Typh?"
"She's on her way, she was meeting with her professor." I nodded looking around the studio.
"So what you wanna do sis? Sing a cover or make your own? " I shrugged.
"I can do a cover for now ." He nodded .
"We just gotta find the right song that you can fit into our voice. And we could switch it up putting your own style on it and see how it goes ." He explained and I nodded . Typh walked in plopping on the sofa .
"Damn ain't no hey bae kiss or nothing huh? " she smiled getting up and giving Dillyn a kiss and sat back down.
"Sorry guys I just had a unnecessary meeting with my professor."
"What happened." Corey asked sitting down pulling me on his lap.
"So he was pressing me about an assignment I know I did . And then when he was rambling grading papers guess what he finds? My assignment. So I wasted about 20 minutes I can't get back."
"I can't stand that . They quick to say it's your fault . Then try to make you do it over." I said rolling my eyes.
"Why should I have to do it over if YOU lost it? Just put an A in the computer and nobody gets hurt." Corey said making us all laugh but we agreed.
"And you know that's what he tried to make me do! Tryna insult my intelligence. Almost snatched his stupid ass up." She huffed in annoyance rubbing her temples then sighed.
"Enough about me, what's poppin wit y'all? " D looked at her cheesing .
"Guess who finally getting in the studio?" She looked at me with her eyes widened.
"Seriously?" I nodded not seeing the big deal . She squealed .
"Bout damn time ! I'm tired of you holding in your talent." Corey sucked his teeth .
"Thank you! I was just telling her that." I mugged him and he blew a kiss at me. Then I had an idea .
"Aye D . I think I know what song I wanna do." He turned to me.
"What song ?"
"Almost is never enough." He looked at me weirdly.
"You know that's a duet right?" I nodded .
"I mean I can just do her part, we only testing waters ."
"True but we should go all out to see how exactly this gon happen captain." Before I could respond a guy walked in the room .
"Aye Rick wassup man ? " the guy dapped Dillyn before speaking.
"Finna get back on this music thing bro I been slacking with school and other stuff ." Then Dillyn looked like he had an idea.
"Lemme introduce you to someone. Maya this is Rick he sings too." I smiled a little and shook his extended hand.
"Nice to meet you ." I said and he smirked.
"Likewise."
"Maybe y'all can do the song together?.." he said more like a question and I shrugged.
"I don't mind ."
"Me either. Let's see if you can keep up ." He jokes and I waved him off smiling.
"We shall see." Dillyn type the song in the chile computer and the music started playing.
"First we gotta see how y'all can compliment each other in a song ." We both nodded and I stood up . I don't know I feel like I got more air that way than sitting down .

We were leaving the studio and Corey would not stop smiling .
"Can you stop smiling at me like that?" He laughed pulling me in to hug him.
"I'm so excited and I'm mad you kept a voice like that away from the world. " I waved him off as he opened my door and I sat down . He walked in between my legs looking down at me.
"Don't act all shy now, you wasn't shy in the stu." I smiled and licked his lips.
"So what you think?"
"I wanna go back. It was so fun and it felt great." He cheesed and I thought it was so cute.
"Corey ya cheeks are gonna burst ." I said laughing and he shrugged.
"I can't hide my happiness right now." He leaned down and pecked my lips .
I don't regret going with them to the studio now. Even though I'm not gonna lie I thought it was a bad idea but it was one of the best things that could've happened today.
"Soooo is it to early to want you to feature tho?" I laughed and he joined me. He stopped and looked at me seriously.
"I think I'm.." he paused.
"What ?" He took a deep breath.
"I think I'm in lo-" Dillyn yelled out.
"Aye y'all tryna go to IHOP?!" Corey snapped his head in his direction. I looked at the exchange between the two.
"Oh my bad was I interrupting?" He scratched his neck nervously and Corey sucked his teeth.
"Yeah we can go .." he nodded walking back inside.
"Okay so what were you saying?" I heard Dillyn and Typh walking out the studio behind him .
"Nothing. We should head out." I looked at him .
"Corey what's wro-"
"It's nothing Foreal let's get outta here ." He kissed my lips and my forehead jogging over to the driver side and I got in the car all the way. He got in and we both closed the door. I couldn't help but stare at him, was he about to say what I think he was about to say? He took hold of my hand and kissed it after cranking up the car and pulling off. For the whole car ride he didn't say anything.
"Why you staring at me?" He finally said and I continued to look at him.
"So you not gon tell me what's wrong?" He shrugged.
"Ain't nothing wrong.." I sucked my teeth and he sighed.
He'll tell me when he's ready I guess. I don't feel like arguing with him for once. I just looked out the window and didn't say anything else.
