"Breathe...that's it... take deep calm breaths" Kevin cooed as I hyperventilated in the seat next to him
We were parked right outside his parent's house in the estate and I was hyperventilating... embarrassing really. I was a nervous wreck and Kevin was trying to calm me down. We had been in the car for over ten minutes and I'm sure anyone who had seen us drive in was wondering what was taking us so long.
Kevin got out of the car and walked around to my side. Opening the door he squatted and made me turn my body to face him
"You have nothing to be nervous about everyone is going to love you"
"Are you sure?" I asked even though at this point I was pretty sure he wasn't really going to tell me if someone wasn't that thrilled to meet me
"Yes I am, come here" he said gesturing for me to lean in
His lips met mine in a slow fervent kiss that would have had my knees going weak and wobbly if I wasn't sitting down. His tongue slipped in and I couldn't help but moan. I loved the taste of him, it's like I could never quite get enough. I was so lost in the kiss that I forgot about where we were and what we were there for. The sound of someone clearing their throat made us pull apart
I looked to my left and there was a girl with an amused smile on her face. Her cheeks turned red when we looked at her and she quickly looked down focusing her attention on digging the tip of her shoe into the ground "I'm sorry for disturbing"
"You should be" Kevin answered earning himself a smack on the arm from me
"Ignore him" I smiled getting up and putting my hand out "I'm Bridget and you must be Kimberly. I've heard so much about you"
"It's nice to meet you too" she said taking my hand. She looked a lot like Kevin. They shared the same eyes and a similarity in the facial structure but their hair colour was different. Kevin's hair was brown and hers was blonde which really brought out her eyes "It's good to finally be able to put a face to the name since you're all my mother has been talking about the whole week"
I forced a smile as the nervousness came back
"Okay bean bug" Kevin cut in "come on give me a hug"
She reluctantly walked over but quickly hugged him when she was close enough "I told you not to call me that" she whined
"Doesn't mean I'll stop" he grinned "Where is Kaden by the way? Please tell me he is in"
"Yeah he is and he came with his girlfriend much to mum's surprise then she started talking about how both her sons are finally bringing girls home"
"What about grandma?" he asked as we walked towards the front door
I had been too busy trying to control my breathing to notice just how big and beautiful their home was. It gave off a traditional exterior which seemed to blend into its landscape. The front looked simple with bricks lining the entire driveway till the door of the house where they also framed the entire door way. There were plants on both corners next to the entrance and some around the house.
"She is excited but you don't want to know what she is excited about... believe me" then she looked at me and gave a sympathetic smile "Nana can be a little over the top so don't take offence, that's just who she is but I'm sure you'll love her"
She put her arm around mine and led me through the front door. Pushing the door and walking through my mouth hang open as I took in the interior. The house looked very beautiful on the inside. I knew Kevin said his parents were well to do but this was not what I was expecting. I guess the fact that I wasn't paying attention when we drove in contributed. The nervousness kicked in the minute he told me that we had arrived.
The house's interior had a modern vibe to it. The front door led to a foyer which opened to a single great space that contained the living room, dining room and the kitchen where I could see people busy preparing food I guess was for the brunch. The floors were rustic, wide plank grey and the ceiling had rough-hewn natural wood ceiling beams that provided a contrast to the all white interior and modern architectural features.
I took a few steps into the house and continued to admire the open space. There was a carpet in the middle of the living room where three sofas were set. To my left were large mahogany sliding doors which linked the living room to the terrace.
I could see people outside chatting and enjoying the sun while some took advantage of the situation diving into the swimming pool. Two people by the open deck caught my attention. Their resemblance to Kevin especially the man was uncanny. He had brown hair and baby blue eyes just like Kevin while the woman who stood next to him had blonde hair like Kimberly. I couldn't see the colour of her eyes because she wasn't facing my direction.
"Are you ready to meet my mom?" Kevin breathed right next to my ear
"I guess so..."
The man I assumed was Kevin's dad touched the arm of the woman I assumed was Kevin's mum and said something to her. She turned in our direction and her face beamed
"Well there's no running away now because here she comes"
I moved back closer to Kevin and he put his arm on my waist. She said something to the person she was talking to and started moving towards us with the man following closely behind
"My baby" she cooed as she reached out to hug Kevin who quickly hugged her back "I missed you so much. You never want to visit your mother" she complained
"Hey mom. I missed you too"
She pulled away then faced me with a smile. She was very beautiful just like Kimberly and she had green emerald eyes "This must be Bridget"
"Yes" he replied "Mom this is my girlfriend Bridget and Bridget this is my Mother Elena"
"It's so good to finally meet you Bridget" She hugged me and I awkwardly put my arms around her
Let's get things straight. I may be quite familiar with Kevin-I know understatement-but that doesn't mean that I'm still not a little awkward around other people. She pulled back and I forced a small smile as she continued to smile at me
"I've heard so much about you over the phone from Kevin and I may have bothered him a little about bringing you over. You see it's finally good to see him in a stable relationship, he has only ever brought his high school girlfriend home and-"
"Mom" he cut her off
"I'm sorry was I blabbering" she sighed "It's just good to see him bring someone home. I swear I got tired of seeing him running up and down with different women-"
"Okay sweetheart I think that's enough" this time the man cut in
I felt kind of good to know that he didn't bring girls home often. I think that kind of meant something and that may have kind of made me happy, flattered even.
"I'm sorry my wife can be a little too open sometimes" he put his hand out for me to shake and I did "It's good to meet you Bridget. I'm Christopher, Kevin's father but I'm sure you already suspected that" he smiled at me warmly
He looked vaguely familiar. I felt like I had seen him somewhere before but I couldn't quite put my finger on it
"It's nice to meet you too" I didn't know whether him telling me his first name meant I could call him by it so I chose to end there
"Have you seen your brother?" I heard Elena ask Kevin who shook his head "He is here somewhere around... oh there he is" she waved her hand about and gestured for someone to come over "he came with his girlfriend too" she clasped her hands together "My boys are growing up"
I turned and my breath caught in my throat as I looked... no stared at the man who was walking towards us. Brown hair, green eyes and a body fit for a god. He looked so casual in a tee and jeans when I got so used to seeing him in expensive business suits on TV because of how much Hannah obsessed over him.
That's when I realised why Kevin's dad looked familiar. He was the owner of Conway enterprises though Kaden was the one running it now.
How I never realised that he was Kevin's brother was beyond me because these two looked so alike they could pass as twins. The most noticeable difference between them was that Kaden was bulkier and taller than my Kevin, that and his eyes were green instead of blue.
I tagged on Kevin's shirt getting his attention "You never told me 'The' Kaden Conway was your brother" I half whispered
"I told you my brother was Kaden and my surname is Conway it was up to you to connect the dots"
"I didn't think you meant him" I said dreamily
"And what exactly is that supposed to mean?"
His tone made me snap out of whatever reverie I was in "Nothing"
I don't know why it just never occurred to me before
He approached us and that's when I saw the girl he had around his arm. She was very beautiful and petite with long jet black hair and light brown eyes. She wore a cute dress and pumps that had the top of her head almost reaching Kaden's shoulder. They made a really cute couple.
Kaden grinned and Kevin stepped forward giving him a hug. It was weird seeing Kaden smile since he almost always had a straight face on TV. Since no one was paying attention I quickly took out my phone and texted Hannah seeing as she was already online
Me: You won't believe who I'm standing next to
Hannah: Who?
Me: Kaden Conway
Hannah: No way... how, when and where did you meet him?
Me: He is Kevin's brother
"...and this" I heard Kevin say while I quickly put my phone away "is Bridget my girlfriend"
"Hey it's nice to meet you Bridget. I'm Kaden and this is Arabelle..." he said looking at the girl next to him with an emotion I couldn't quite read "My girlfriend"
"It's nice to meet you both" I smiled reaching my hand out to greet Arabelle
She took my hand and smiled "nice meeting you too"
I couldn't stop staring or wipe the smile off my face... I tried but I just couldn't. I felt like I was meeting one of those hot TV personalities in real life. I wished Hannah was here with me but then she would probably make him feel uncomfortable with her long stares and non stop talking so it was probably for the best that she wasn't.
I could see Kevin looking at me with a not so happy face while Kimberly looked like she was trying to suppress a smile. That's when I knew that my gawking at his brother was pretty noticeable.
"I'm sorry for staring... I just didn't know that you two were brothers"
"It's okay, I understand besides its normal since I am the better looking brother" he smirked looking at Kevin
"Well..." I hesitated "you are good looking but I wouldn't go as far as saying that" I smiled putting my arm around Kevin and leaning on him
He placed a kiss on my forehead and another on my lips when I looked up at him. His parents were still there so it may have made me a little uncomfortable though they didn't seem to mind.
"Oh my gosh Kevin" someone half yelled from behind startling me "come give your nana a hug"
"Hey nana" he grinned as he moved to hug her
I found it cute that he called his grandmother nana. She pinched his cheeks and smiled as she complained about him not eating enough. Her smile brightened even more after she saw me
"Is this your girlfriend?" she said walking past him and moving towards me "Awe it's so nice to meet you, I'm Beth and you must be Bridget"
"Yes. It's nice to meet you too" I smiled though I felt like I had said that statement too many times in one day "who would have thought these two idiots capable of getting into a real relationship" she looked at Kaden and Kevin who were looking anywhere but at her
"At least now I have hopes of seeing my great grandchildren before I die and gosh" she said looking at the both of us "They are going to be beautiful"
The smile I had on my face slowly faded and I bit my lip as I tried to force one on. I suddenly became uncomfortable with the subject of kids. I mean we just met but then Kimberly did warn me about their grandmother. I wasn't even sure I wanted to have kids, I never really thought about it. I guess no one knew what to say since everyone was quiet.
Beth looked around and rolled her eyes shocking me a little "Don't act like I said something wrong, their kids would be adorable besides when have my grandkids ever kept it in their pants" my eyes widened at her comment as she continued "all I'm saying is that they can give me a great grandchild while they're at it, kids-"
"Okay" Kimberly cut in "why don't I give Bridget a tour of the house?" she put her hands on my shoulders and steered me away from the group
"Yeah that would be great"
"I'm sorry about my grandmother but I did warn you" she whispered
"Yeah you did"
I forgot all about the conversation with Kevin's grandma as Kimberly showed me the house. These were homes I saw in movies. It had five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a three quarter bath, a sauna, gym, an office, a study, a piano room and other rooms that I noticed had nice looking sofas in them
By the time the tour was over everyone was outside so we went to join them. I met a little boy with dark brown eyes and black hair by the doors. He was really cute but didn't say much though he kept following me around so I picked him up. The outdoor deck had a great view overlooking the canyon and I had a feeling watching the sunset from here would be amazing.
Arabelle came over to where we were and we chatted. She was very nice to talk to and we ended up exchanging lines. We all went to sit at the table outside by the grass after everything was ready.
I ended up sitting with the little boy on my laps. I found out that his name was Leroy and that his mother was Anita the maid who took care of the house.
I liked his family, I thought that it would have been awkward but they were very nice, warm and welcoming people
Elena and everyone else gave me a hug when Kevin told them that we were leaving. Elena made sure to put emphasis on us going back over sometime soon and I wasn't against the idea because I actually enjoyed myself.
"Not so bad right?" he asked as we walked towards his car
"No... It was great" I smiled and he kissed my temple
"That's my girl"
