Melissa's POV
"Melissa I presume? How's Kate?" "Dead. Technically"
"Tragic"
I handed him a note "read it"
Alex had been friends with Kate for a while now. She knew he was Isabella's brother but she never told him
He believed he didn't have a family
They met a long time ago. They would usually just get favors from each other so calling them friends is a bit of a stretch
The note I had given him was one that Kate left for me to deliver
He opened the note and read it
The note explained that she went to Mystic falls and why she went there. She told him about Isabella and how she was his sister from long ago
As I watched him read the note I saw his eyes get bigger and his lips part
He looked at me "she's still alive?" I nod
A smile appeared across his face
Isabella's POV
I slowly started to open my eyes
I saw that I was in a cell, alone lying on the floor
I looked around and it looked like a shed...a very big one
I heard a voice in the cell next to me yell "hey Jimmy D. I need to talk to you"
I knew that voice like it was my own
"Ethan?" I say. There was silence. "Isabella?"
"What were you doing here?" He asked "I could ask you the same thing"
"Someone stabbed me when I was leaving the party. What happened to you?"
I didn't want to say anything at first but I did anyway "Jimmy stabbed me with vervain"
He didn't say anything
"JIMMY" Ethan yelled and Jimmy came into the room with a gun in his hand
"Is there a reason why we're here?" Ethan says
"You know what you did" Jimmy says back to him
"Jimmy" he looks at me
"Please tell us why we're here"
He looks at Ethan. I could see the hatred in his glare
"He killed my family. When I came back I saw blood splattered on the walls and him sucking the blood out of my little sister then running off in seconds. I spiked the shots with a little vervain at the party last night to make sure and it worked. I promised myself I would find who did this and make them pay"
"What? No he-" I start but Ethan interrupts me "and what if I did? Huh what are you gonna do torture me behind bars? Do it on the inside like a real man"
Jimmy steps closer. "I want you to say it"
"Say what?"
"Say that you did it"
Ethan took a deep breath "Ok. Yeah I did it. When I had my humanity turned off I went on a rampage. I remember killing a family of 4. I remember how good their blood tasted"
I saw Jimmy looking as if he was about to cry, but instead he shot a bullet from his gun into Ethan's cell
"Ethan" I heard a thud and hoped that Jimmy didn't aim for the heart
He started to walk out but before he did he looked at me and said "I trusted you"
I looked back at him "likewise"
I heard footsteps make there way inside
I look up and see Kevin in the doorway. The first thing he saw was Jimmy with a gun in his hand
"What the fuck..."
"Keg listen you gotta help me" he said and walked closer to him. Kevin took a step back
"Him. He killed our family"
"What are you talking about? Let my friends go"
"No you don't understand-" "I don't need to. Don't go blaming my friends for your mistakes"
"Vampires Kevin they're vampires. He's the one that killed our family kev. They are not your friends"
"Get our of my way" Kevin pushes away from Jimmy and walks closer to my cell
"I'm sorry Kevin"
Kevin's turns and as soon as he does Jimmy pushes his head into the wall
Grayson's POV
After I dropped off Max I crashed at my dorm
Once I woke up, Brie invited me to lunch with her and Olivia. Well technically brunch
When I arrived I saw Brie sitting at a table so I walked over
"Morning" she says "morning" "So how was the party?" She asks "it was fine. How was your night?"
"Dreadful. There's nothing worse than studying for 2 test in one night"
Her phone buzzed and she looked at it "oh no"
"What?" I asked "Olivia can't make it. Her boss called and said she had to work an extra shift"
She sighs "more food for us then" I joke
She chuckles but still looks sad "what? You don't like me anymore?"
"No no I just...haven't seen her in a while that's all"
After we got our food I could tell something was on her mind
Brie's POV
I needed Olivia there
I didn't want to be alone with him, not that I don't want to be near him I just wanted someone else to be there so I didn't feel awkward
I love him to death, literally, and the more I'm around him the more I have to face that
I'm not afraid of telling him, I'm afraid of what he'll say
"Ok something wrong?" He puts his arms on the table
"Nothing's wrong"
"Brie I've known you for like 16 years I know when you're lying"
"I'm not lying"
He raised his eyebrows and stares at me "stop it"
"Not until you tell me what's on your mind" he chuckled
"Ok" I sigh "Say there's this guy..." "like there always is" he says interrupting me
I roll my eyes and continue "And you wanna tell him you like him but you know that he'll never like you back so you have to hide your feelings from yourself all the time and-" "Brie" he grabs my hand
"Anyone who turns you down is missing out. You're an amazing girl and anyone would be incredibly lucky to have you"
"Really?" "Yeah really" I smile
"Ok. Gray there's something else I-" The sound of his phone beeping interrupts me. I look over to it "Who was that?" "Oh just Max"
"Max?" "Yeah just some girl I met at the party last night. I guess taking your advice worked because that was her asking me to diner later"
I felt my heart sink "anyway. You were saying?" "Uh. Never mind. It's not important anymore"
Isabella's POV
Kevin woke up after a few minutes. And since we were in cells that were across from each other we just talked
"Is it true?" He asks me
"Ethan confuses do it it. There's a possibility"
Kevin shakes his head as a tear runs down his face
"I'm sorry Kevin" is all I could say
"You know I'm not even mad that he did it" "you're not?" "No. I've already dealt with the realization that they're gone. It's just that...Jimmy. He's really messed up right now and I don't know if I can help him"
I then heard Ethan groan "you ok?" "I'm gonna kill him"
"You're not gonna kill him" "watch me"
I see Jimmy walk into the room again
He opens my cage and pulls me out. I finally see Ethan slumped on the ground next to the bars
"What are you taking her out for? To watch my root too?"
"No leverage. I'm gonna ask you questions and if you don't answer I'll shoot her with vervain soaked bullets" Ethan glared and him and clenched his jaw
"Afraid I won't answer? I will. You don't have to hurt her. It's me you want to kill"
"Nothing wrong with taking per cautious" he sat me down in a chair and tied my to it
Jimmy left the room for a few to reload and I took this moment to try to break free but It's was no use. I was too weak
Every so often his only living sister who wasn't at the house that night would inject us with vervain, and once he found out about werewolf's, wolfspain. She would inject us every 20 minuets with no blood to help
While still trying to get lose I hear Ethan whisper "hey" I turn to him and he nods his head in the direction of the girl who was coming straight for us
She starts with me
As she's sticking the needle in my skin I head bud her as hard as I could
It didn't knock her out but she stubbled a little which allowed me to trip her
When she fell to the ground, I kicked her over to Ethan and he grabs her wrist and starts drinking. It only takes a couple seconds before her breaks his cell lock, unties me and unlock Kevin's cell
He hands me her body and says "help yourself and go" "I cant leave you" "you need to go. I'll deal with him" I saw blood lust in his eyes
"E" Kevin says but ethan doesn't turn. "Remember...he's still my brother"
Ethan slightly looks to the side then back at the doorway "leave"
Ethan's POV
I stood behind the door and watched Jimmy walk in
I slam it so he turns around and sees me against the wall. I could sense his fear
"H-how did you get out?" He stuttered "Your helper. She uh lent me her wrist which tasted amazing by the way"
He held up his gun but his hands shook so hard I was able to grab it and rip it from his hands
"What are you gonna do? Kill me? With all you've done to me that would be a blessing" "no I'm not gonna kill you. I'm better than that. Plus two certain someones, for some reason, wants you alive. So here's what your gonna do...
You're gonna forget this ever happened, forget about your dead family, forget about vampires. All you remember is that they were in an accident. You'll still call Kevin on the weekends. You're gonna move out of town and never come back"
He stood there and I started to walk away
Isabella's POV
"This is all my fault" I heard Grayson say over the phone
"No it's not" "yes it is. If I didn't bail on you, you wouldn't have gotten taken" "yes but Ethan would have. Listen I'll call you later" I hung up the phone
I see Ethan come from around the corner
I went to the back of the building we were in to dump the body in and just sat on the stairway
"Where's Kevin?" "He went home"
"How ya feelin?" "Like an idiot" "I think I have something to take the edge off" I frown my eyebrows confused of what he had. "Check out what the psycho had on him" he pulled out a bag of weed
Grayson's POV
I was in the highway to get home when I got a call from Isabella
I answered and immediately heard laughter
"Yes?"
"Hiiiii"
"I thought you were gonna call me later" "this is later"
"Yeah 2 minuets later" she started laughing obnoxiously hard
"Are you high?"
"Only like, this much" "you know I can't see you right" "oh right" she laughs again
"How about I'll call you later this time?" "Okie dokie"
Brie's POV
I stood on his porch waiting for him to come home, like he ever would
He's probably at her house while I'm standing here acting like a complete idiot
Why am I doing this? It seemed ok in the moment but now I don't know
I gave myself 5 minutes and if he wasn't there I was gonna leave, a part of me was hoping he wouldn't
I start to walk down the patio stairs when I hear him say "Brie? What are you doing here?" From the sidewalk
"Just. Hanging around"
"Well do you wanna come in?" "Uh no. I think this would be better if I did this out here" he looks at me concerned "what is it?" I take a deep breath
"I have to tell you something. Something that I know will change us forever. I like you. And not just as a friend or a buddy. I like you. I won't tell you how long just know it's been a long time. I know you don't feel the same way but I wanted you to know this. And I know you're not over Isabella. Everyone does. If she asked you to be with her right now you would go in a heartbeat. But if there's a single ounce of feeling you have for me right now then please. Tell me"
He looked down at the ground searching for what to say. "Brie" he looked up at me "I'm sorry I just don't"
I sigh and fake a smile "I get. I don't know why I thought otherwise" I began to walk away
"Wait-" "no it's fine. I'll see you tomorrow, possibly"
I knew how he felt and I knew what he was going to say, but hearing him say it broke my heart
Narration
Ethan stumbles past a crying Brie and turns back at Grayson confused "don't ask" says Grayson and they both walk inside
"Mom? Where are you I got your like, a billion text. Mom?" Ethan says as he walks in
They turn the corner to see their mother
Dead. On the floor next to the stairs
They both run to her body and check the pulse even though they knew she was gone
"I'm sorry" they hear from the top of the stairs. They look up and their father, holding a knife looking down at them
"Dad" Grayson says "dad no"
Their father stabs himself in the stomach and falls down the stairs making himself break his neck
Grayson and Ethan look at each other with tears in their eyes
They're all they have left
