His lips were definitely soft....at first he stayed still then started to move them against mine and I responded. It wasn't rough or needy.....it was calm and sweet. I felt like I could hear my heart beat louder and clearer, I could feel my blood rushing through my veins.
My knees felt weak and my stupid bag felt like it weighed a ton on my shoulder. I made a mental note to get myself a new one and stop stuffing a lot of books in this one. I put my hands on his chest and it felt so firm, I wondered how he found time to work out with his busy schedule but most of all I wondered how it would feel to hold his chest while he was shirtless...you know skin to skin...
I pulled away breaking the kiss after realising that my mind had literally 'wondered' too far but I quickly regretted my decision. I brushed my tongue over my bottom lip and his eyes followed the movement.
I blushed and looked down "Sorry about that"
"It's fine...there's nothing to be sorry about"
I felt my face become really hot and it was becoming difficult to concentrate when all I could think about were his lips and the way his chest felt against my hands. I wonder how it would feel if he trailed kisses down my neck, to my collar bone then...oh god I'm doing it again
"I have to go"
"Do you want me to walk you home?"
"No" I said a little too quickly and loudly making him give me a questioning look. I took a deep breath and said more calmly "No...goodnight Kevin" then I was out of there before he could say anything else
I rushed home, went straight to my room and threw myself on my bed. Stupid...stupid...stupid Hannah yeah lets blame me kissing him on Hannah...
I dressed up in my pyjamas and went to get something to eat downstairs. I got a text from Hannah saying she had a test to study for so she would be spending a night at Michelles' house. I liked Hannahs' friend Michelle, she was easy to get along with. I sent her a text telling her to study hard then I went to bed.
I woke up late the next day so I had no choice but to skip breakfast which was something I tried by all means to avoid. After my lecture I dragged Richard to the nearest coffee shop to get something to eat. He sat down while I stood in line to order.
I checked my phone for any texts but there were none. I had been grateful to Kevin for not texting me the previous night but now I was anxious. I could have started up a conversation myself but I was too embarrassed over what happened to do so.
I ordered two coffees and cupcakes though Richard only wanted coffee. He sat in his chair and chatted with me while I ate. I was full half way through my second cupcake so I made him help me with it before we walked back to school.
"You get this smile on your face when you eat you know that right?"
"I do" I said dreamily "Now I can have my next lecture and not continuously think about food". We were on our way to class when I saw Kevin and a bunch of his friends seated on slabs chatting and laughing. I got butterflies in my stomach and that didn't bode well for the food I had just eaten.
I was just grateful that he hadn't seen me and I was praying that he wouldn't. I noticed that there was a girl sitting next to him and she was getting a little too handsy for my liking.
Richard poked me "Earth to Bree....where has your mind drifted off to...I was talking to you"
"I'm sorry what did you say?"
"I said there is someone I need to see before the next lecture...come on"
He started moving towards the direction Kevin was in so I had to stop him "Let's go around, I think I'm in need of some exercise" I stretched my legs and arms a little to try and stress my point
"Why should we go around when there is a shortcut right here?" He asked curiously "it's not my fault the only pose you choose to do in yoga is the child's pose"
"It's better than the corpse pose" I muttered "and no reason, I just feel like walking"
"Nope" he said rubbing his chin with two fingers "I know you too well, not like the back of my hand...but I do know you...who are you avoiding?"
I blushed and he shouted "Aha...I knew it" I hit his shoulder telling him to keep it down "I knew it" he continued lowering his voice a little "so who is it?"
"Who is what? Do you want me to escort you or not?" I frowned looking up at him, he was kind of taller than me...ok not kind of...he was taller than me
He ignored me and continued "So is it those guys seated by the fountain" I kept quiet and didn't respond "Ok not those...well how about those chatting on the grass" I did the same and kept quiet "Ok" he tapped his chin with his index finger "How about those seated by the slabs" I couldn't help it...I blushed and he laughed
I felt a little embarrassed so I grabbed him by the hand and pulled him so that he could follow me. He resisted in the beginning but gave in afterwards
"You know I'm eventually going to find out who right?"
"I know...just not now"
He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me in for a hug as we walked "This is going to be fun"
After our final lecture Richard left me saying he had to meet up with his girlfriend. I didn't feel like going to the library so I decided to go home instead. I was on my way to the gate when I got a text
Baby blue: Where are you?
I thought of telling him that I was home but I decided against it
Me: On my way out of school
I got a text almost immediately
Baby Blue: Don't leave I'm on my way
Me: Okay
I decided to sit on the grass while I waited.I took out a book and started to read but only managed to make it half way through a page before he arrived
"Hey" he gave me a breath taking smile and my tummy felt a little weird
"Hey"
He sat down next to me "Are you already done for the day?"
"Yeah and what are you doing in school?"
"Just had a few things"
"I thought you guys are supposed to be in the hospital or something"
"Yeah, we are but something recently came up so I come into school whenever I can"
"Ohhh ok"
"About last night, why did you kiss me?"
My face felt hot....ground open up and swallow me now "I don't know...it just happened" he laughed and I guess he saw how uncomfortable I looked so he changed the topic
"I just realised that I don't know your surname"
"Mathews and yours?"
"Conway...do you have any middle names?"
The name sounded familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. I didn't like my middle name which is why I never really told people about it
"Della" I said after clearing my throat
"Della, I like it"
"But I prefer Bridget...so call me Bridget"
"Ok...fine....now back to our previous discussion"
"Ah, why" I covered my face with my hands trying to hide my embarrassment
"Because" he said pulling my hands away "I'm curious"
"Curious about what?"
"Do you like me...coz I really do like you" he was looking into my eyes and it felt like he could see deep into my soul, it made me feel kind of uncomfortable but I kind of liked the way he was looking at me "I would really like to try out a relationship with you" I tensed at the mention of relationship and he must have noticed "you can think about it"
"Ok" that's all I managed to say
He looked at his watch "I have to get going now....talk to you later"
"Yeah...sure"
He rushed off afterwards and I sat there for a moment trying to digest what had just happened. I stood up and started my walk home. I was half way there when I stopped moving his question dawning on me he asked me to be his girlfriend I smiled.
By the time I reached home I already knew what my answer to his question was. I felt sleepy so I went to bed and woke up around four pm. I was hungry so I went and made something to eat leaving some for Hannah. I ate and just lay down on the couch watching TV for two and a half hours. I didn't feel like reading or studying, I just felt like doing nothing.
I went and made popcorn then went back to the couch. Hannah walked in a few minutes later and my phone buzzed.
"Hey"
"Hey" I said picking up my phone to check my message
Baby Blue: Is it ok if I come over?
Me: Yeah sure
"How long have you been sitting on that couch"
"More than two hours and Kevin said he is coming over...he asked me to be his girlfriend ny the way...well he said he would like to try out a relationship with me but same thing right"
"I don't think I like the way he put it but oh my gosh for real...and what did you say?"
"I actually didn't say anything, he told me I could think about it"
"And..."
"I don't think I have a problem with it"
She screamed and hit her legs on the couch "Finally...now all you have to do is tell him that and then I can finally tell people that you are in a relationship and off limits"
"Off limits...who would want to know if I'm off limits or not"
"Ah there's this guy who is always asking about you...I don't like him so I always find excuses to keep him away from you, but now I can finally tell him to fuck off"
"That will be two Hail Marys'"
"Shut up" she said hitting my shoulder
There was a knock on the door and Hannah went to get it.
"Bree" She came back into the room and I could literally hear the smile she had on her face like literally
"Yeah...what are you so happy about?"
"You have a visitor"
Oh god Kevin I turned and behind the super smiling Hannah was blue eyes himself.
"Hey" I said sitting up
"Well I'm off to my room" Hannah announced as she went up stairs "If you need anything I'm only one call away" she was heading upstairs when she mouthed "he is hot"
I scratched my head and turned my attention back to Kevin.
"You can take a seat"
"Thanks...I love your apartment by the way"
"Are you saying that coz you love it or coz it's the normal thing to say" I said propping my head on my elbow against the couch
"I'm saying it coz it's your apartment and I love it"
"Nice one"
"I know I said that you could take your time but I'm really curious" he reached his hand out to touch my face and I didn't resist
"You know it's only been a few hours right"
"I know" he put his hand over the couch and leaned in. He moved his mouth close to my ear and I could feel his warm breath against my skin "so....will you be my girlfriend Della?"
I never really liked the name and I don't think I ever would "I thought I told you not to call me that"
"I know" he said moving from my ear to my face, his lips were only inches away from mine and I wanted to feel them again "so what's it going to be?"
I looked into his piercing baby blues and the word just rolled off my tongue "Yes..."
He smiled, leaned in and kissed me
