my nails are gone.
my hair is thinning.
as my eyelashes.
as my cheeks are hollowing.
things will grow
back along with the piece—
the fraction of my soul,
but momentarily
it feels like i will never
grow past this moment
and i hope
one day
i'll look back
and see that i did
