the young boy who didn't know any better,
was said to be "a star one day".
with the lights flashing
above his irises,
money carelessly falling out through
the holes in his pockets,
words that weren't even
his but on prepared scripts,
and drinks that weren't
even his to binge.

he didn't believe himself
to be the star that everyone
saw him grow into.
disappointment flooded his
iced down drinks along with
the liquor swirling lifelessly.

his mother was so proud
of what he had become,
if only he had believed her
when she told him so.

things begun to fade and not
just the lights strung above him,
not just the innocence in his
eyes,
not just the money sitting in
his hands, not just the materialistic
items sitting in that mansion of
dreams.

the young boy who didn't know better,
was said to be "a star one day".
only he took it the wrong way.
now look up,
see him in the sky,
floating belongedly among
the stars and the scars
and bright lights
of the life he didn't
believe he should've lived.

he became a star one day.
