(Final Game)
There were loud cheers as the players went in the court
“We will become champion” Clave said
“Fight!” Enson yelled
“FIGGGGGHHHTTTT”
Andrein looked at the crowd. She found Trisha with the other students of their school.
“ALDRIN!!!!” yelled everyone
She smiled as she found Trisha cheering for her. She lifts her left hand showing Trisha their “wedding ring”
Trisha smiled at her
“Geez, I envy you” Enson said “So sweet”
“Focus on the game” Clave said
“Alright” Enson whispers to her “He’s so serious right?”
“Yeah, we’re in the final game”
“Last year, we lost 30 points from Densel High. He injured his feet during the 2nd quarter.”
“Why?”
“Densel High’s a triple champion, they were aggressive. They don’t care if they get foul as long as a good player from the other team gets injured, that’s their tactic.”
She smiled “Don’t worry”
“You’re really proud of yourself eh. Let’s see what you’ve got” Enson challenged
“Alright”
The whistle blow as the starting five entered the court
“See that big guy there.” Enson whispers to Andrein “That’s Jeffrey Henson, he’s a center and the captain. Next to him is Vince Mcnaugh, the forward. The two of them are the most aggressive of their team. They are the reason captain was injured”
“I see” she looked at Clave
The jump ball started,
Densel’s captain, Jeffrey, taps the ball to one of his teammates
“Defense!” Clave yelled as he guarded Jeffrey
“We meet again” Jeffrey smiled as he recognized Clave “Captain looser”
“Let’s see who’ll lose”
The ball was passed to Jeffrey “You’ll never win against us” he said as he pushed away Clave and run towards the ring,
Enson tried to block him but he was pushed away by Vince.
“Here we go” Jeffrey said as he jumps off for a slam dunk, underneath him was Andrein, waiting for a chance to steal the ball. She jumps off, smashed the ball out of Jeffrey’s hand.
Enson took the ball and dashed towards the ring. He was freely open for a shot.
The referee whistles for a two points.
Jeffrey was just watching them. He looked at Vince and nodded.
Vince took the sign. They have a target to destroy.
As the game moved on,
Andrein has the ball and he was heavily guarded by Vince
She found an opening to surpass him but then Vince reaches for him. He pushed her so hard; she loses balance and fell off.
The referee whistles for a defensive foul
Clave runs toward Andrein “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine”
“I’m sorry man” Vince apologizes
“You son of a bitch! You do it on purpose!” Clave yelled as he pushed Vince
“It’s an accident” Vince fight back
The referee whistles as both team stops the two
“You get this fight over the court or both of you will go back to bench!” The referee yelled
“I’m sorry” Clave said as he backed away
Vince grinned at him
Clave looked at Andrein
“I’m fine Clave, you don’t need to worry about me” Andrein said
Clave sigh, “Let’s go beat them”
Andrein smiled “Yeah”
As the first half is ending,
“We’re three points down” Clave said
“We’ll gonna tie the score before the first half ends” Andrein, in no doubt, said
Only 30 seconds left until the first half ends, they have the ball
Enson passed the ball to Andrein as Vince guarded him
The time starts moving. She tries to run towards the ring.
Vince looked at Jeffrey.
Jeffrey nodded again,
Clave notices it
Andrein jumps off to take a shot
“No!!!” Clave yelled
Vince blocked the shot but purposely kicked her knees hard
“Aldrin!!!”
A whistle blows “Defensive foul white number 7!”
Andrein fell off the ground in pain
The ball went in “Basket counted! One free throw” shouted the referee
“Aldrin!!!” Trisha yelled as she saw her
The alarm ring, ending the first half of the game
“Aldrin” Clave called
“Are you alright?” the referee asked “Can you still stand?”
She nodded then stood up “Aah” she felt a jolt in her knee
“You’re not fine. You should rest”
“What a shame” Vince said “You’re a good player” he added and grinned
Clave was really angry… “You son of…” he was going to attack Vince when Enson interfered and punched Vince on the face
Vince yelled in pain
Enson looked at Clave “This one is on me.” Enson smiled and looked at Andrein “go make us winner”
The referee called for foul on Enson and off to the bench.
“We should take you out too” the referee said
“No” Andrein disagreed and stood up “It’s just a jolt” she said as she tapped her foot “I’m fine”
Clave smiled “Now, the game starts”
As the game went on for the second half
“Be careful” Clave said
“I know”
“You’re a best player so you’re targeted”
Andrein smiled “So that’s why you’re targeted back then”
Clave smiled “Let’s go”
The score tied when Andrein swiftly shoots the free throw.
“Try to get him, no matter what happen” Jeffrey whispers to Vince
“As you wish” Vince confirmed
When the ball was passed to Vince, Andrein suddenly appeared in front of him and snatched away the ball.
“Fuck… The hell was that?” Vince said as he followed Andrein
Andrein run towards Jeffrey as he guarded. She jumped off for a slam dunk
Jeffrey blocked her but then he was just pushed away by Andrein. He fell on to the ground, he could see Andrein slammed the ball in the ring and it landed right towards his face. He yelled in pain as it the ball hits him.
“If you don’t want to play fair, then neither do I” Andrein whispers and grinned “I’m gonna make you pay”
Jeffrey was frozen. He could see how serious Andrein is. “Are you alright?” Vince said as he helped Jeffrey “Your nose’s bleeding”
Jeffrey swept off the blood “I’m fine” he said seriously
It was a shock for Densel High to see Andrein guarding Jeffrey.
“What are they up to?” Jeffrey thought
“It was in second quarter isn’t it?” Andrein whispers “That you and your partner took out Clave”
“It was an accident” Jeffrey said as one of his teammates attempts for a shot.
Clave tried to stop it; the ball slips in his hands. “REBOUND!!!” he shouted knowing it will miss
Jeffrey aims for a rebound “This ball is mine!” he said as he jumps
Andrein smiled “Then it’s yours” she whispers as she took a jump
Jeffrey grabs the ball but he notices that Andrein is a few seconds late jumping. He’s not aiming for a rebound… this is…
As they both fall to the ground, Andrein accidentally or purposely squeezed down Jeffrey’s left foot with her right foot
Jeffrey felt pain on his foot. “Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!” he shouted
“Captain!” Vince and the other runs towards him
A whistle blows for a referee timeout
“Can you still stand up?” The referee asked
Jeffrey was really in a bad condition. A stretcher was called to take him.
On the other hand,
“Did you do it on purpose” Clave asked Andrein
“What will you do if I said yes?” Andrein answered
“You shouldn’t have done that!” Clave yelled “Apologize or I’ll quit this game”
Andrein smiled “You really are kind to others.” She said as she walks towards Jeffrey who was lying in the stretcher. “I’m sorry”
Vince walks towards her and grab her “You did it on purpose didn’t you?”
“Vince…” Jeffrey called “Let him go”
“Captain”
Jeffrey looked at him “It’s an accident, you don’t need to apologize”
“Captain!” Vince complained
“This is my last year playing basketball so even if I can’t play anymore, I am more than happy but Vince is still in his sophomore year. He’ll play fair so please, don’t do the same to him” he said “Please promise me you won’t hurt him”
“Alright, just promise me he’ll not do anything unfair”
“I promise… Vince, apologize to him and play your best”
“Captain…” Vince bowed down, turned to her “I’m sorry. I’ll play fair until the end of the game”
Andrein smiled “Alright”
The game continues, and as for the very last second, Densel High played fair. The game ended as East Spring High wins the Interschool Championship.
Everyone in the team was very happy. Clave was announced as the MVP of the game.
They were cheers and loud noises but not everyone in the stadium was happy for them
“I’ll fucking get you Aldrin” Dylan said “You took my girl and now my team. I’ll have my revenge” he said as he went out.
(Locker Room)
“Wow, this trophy’s really heavy” Enson said
“We are the CHAMPION!!!!” Clave yelled in excitement “I can’t believe it!!! Wooohhhhoooo!!!”
“And you’re the best of all Captain” Andrein said
“Thank you” Clave said “Now let’s go celebrate!!!!”
“Ah, Captain… I’m sorry but I can’t come” Andrein apologize
“Why? Is there anything wrong?” Clave asked
“It’s just that, Trisha’s waiting for me. I promised we’ll go home together”
“Geez… you two can’t be broken” Enson said
“Alright then… I’ll treat you next time” Clave said
“See you tomorrow” Enson said
“Yeah, thank you guys. I’m going first” she said and runs
She meets up with Trisha in front of the stadium
“Congratulations” Trisha said as she hugged her.
“Thank you” she said and smiled “Let’s go”
As they arrived at Trisha’s house
“Come in” Trisha invited
“Am I not a disturbance?”
“My parent’s not home right now but even if they are… I would like you to meet them”
She smiled “Alright”
As they went inside,
“I have a feeling that you’re team will win… so I decided to bake a cake yesterday. I want you to try it”
“Alright”
“Have a sit. I’ll go get you a slice”
She nodded and took a sit. She’s a bit nervous… What will happen next?
As Trisha went to the kitchen, she took out the cake in the fridge. When she turned around to get a knife,
“Well well…” Dylan said while holding a gun
“AaaahhhhH!!!” she screamed in fear
“TRISHA?!!!!” Andrein said as she runs towards the kitchen. She stops as she sees Dylan holding Trisha with a gun on his hands “Dylan”
“This cake’s delicious. You never bake one for me when we’ll still together” Dylan said
“Let her go Dylan” she demanded
“And if I won’t? What will you do?” Dylan asked
“I’ll kill you”
“Really, I’m kind of scared” Dylan said “But in this situation right now, I am the person you should be afraid off” Dylan said as he pointed the gun on Trisha’s head “Bang!!!” he shouted as Trisha staggered.
“You son of a bitch” Andrein said
“If you make anymore mistake, I’ll shoot it for real” Dylan warned
“You won’t get away from this” she said. She could see fear in Trisha’s eyes. She should do something…
Then suddenly, they heard voices coming. A few seconds, the door opened.
For a second, Dylan is distracted; she grabs the timing and runs toward them.
“The hell!!!” Dylan shouted as he was grabbed by Andrein.
Andrein pushed Trisha into safety as she tried to snatch the gun to Dylan.
“What’s going on here?!” a man shouted
“Dad!” Trisha called as she runs toward the man
“What’s happening?” the man hugs Trisha
“Help him!” Trisha said as she pointed to Andrein
“What the heck is going on?” A woman in her 50’s said
“Are you alright Trisha?” Another woman in her early 20’s said
“I’m fine mom, Kathy… call the police!”
“Eleanor! Call the police!” The man shouted as the woman rushed towards the phone
Dylan found an opening and kicked Andrein in the stomach. Andrein felt pain as he fell on the floor. Dylan stood up and kicked her again. “You damn piece of shit!!!” he shouted and then looked at Trisha
“Dad” The woman named Kathy, Trisha’s older sister called when he notices that Dylan is staring at them
The man, Trisha’s father, protected her “Put the gun down” he said “Let’s talk about this”
“There’s nothing to talk to mister, give me that woman.” Dylan said referring to Trisha as he pointed the gun to him.
“Dad” Trisha called
“Let’s be easy alright” Trisha’s dad said “Put the gun down son”
“I said give me that woman!!!” Dylan becomes hysterical “Give her to me!”
“I won’t let you hurt her even if it costs my life”
“Then be it” Dylan said as he pulled the trigger
Trisha’s father hugged her
“DAD!!!” Trisha and Kathy yelled as they heard the gunshot
“Dad?” Trisha called
“I’m fine” her dad said as they all looked at Dylan
“YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!!” Dylan yelled as he tried to get away from Andrein’s grip. The shot misses when Andrein grabbed him.
“Kathy, take your sister and mother out of here!” Trisha’s father said
“We’re not leaving you here dad” Kathy said
“Go Kathy” he looked at Trisha “I’ll help him. Now go!”
“Dad”
“I love you Trisha”
“Let’s go” Kathy pulled her out
“Give me that gun!!!” Dylan yelled as he again pulled the trigger as they were fighting over it.
“AAAAAAAAHhhh” Andrein yelled as the bullet graze through her knees. She knelt down in pain.
“Huh?” Dylan stops then laughed “I’ll have my revenge” he added as he pointed the gun to her.
Trisha’s dad then hit Dylan with a frying pan in the head. He went unconscious.
“Are you alright?” Trisha’s dad said as he helped her “Your leg’s bleeding”
“It’s just a scratched. I’m fine”
“This is really not a good day” Trisha’s dad said as he kicked the gun away from the unconscious Dylan.
They heard a siren and afterwards two policemen went inside to help them.
The day ended, Andrein was brought to the hospital after that
(Hospital)
“Hey” She called as she went out of the emergency room
“Are you sure you’re fine?” Trisha said “You should be admitted”
“I’m fine. Alright?”
“Aldrin!!!” someone called
She looked behind her; it was Clave, with Enson, Coach and the whole team.
“We were all worried about you? Are you alright?” Coach Vincent said
“You should have called us! We are all worried sick about you. We were in the middle of celebrating when we heard about you” Enson said
“I don’t know what I’m gonna do to Dylan if something happened to you!!” Clave added
“Hey, relax. I’m fine… except that…” she looked at the team “I can’t be in basketball”
“What?!” everyone yelled
“I’m sorry guys.” She said as she bowed down “The doctor said I have a damaged tissue in the knees because of the gunshot. That doctor said it’ll heal but advises that I should not do excessive foot works while that tissue is healing. It will take a year for a full recovery and I’ll undergo physical therapy.”
“So it means you’re not playing basketball for a year?” Enson said
“Probably”
“That’s a shame… well anyway… We’re happy that you’re fine. That’s good news for us.” Coach Vincent said
“I’m sorry I can’t play for next year”
“Don’t look down at the team. We can still be the champion for next year! Right TEAM!!!” Enson said
“RIGHT!!!”
“Even without you and captain… We can still fight” he added
She smiled “I’m happy enough”
“Are you alright?!” Andrein’s mom said as she rushed towards her and hugged her “Oh my God, I was worried sick when I heard about what happened. I don’t know what to do.”
“I’m fine mom… don’t worry alright”
Her mom notices everyone around “Ah…”
“ah, mom, this is Coach Vincent and the school’s basketball team”
“Good evening” her mom greeted
“Good evening ma’am” Coach Vincent greeted back “We’re just seeing if he’s fine”
“Thank you for coming”
“And this is Trisha” Andrein introduced
“I’m really sorry for what happened to Aldrin. It was my fault” Trisha said “Please don’t get mad at him”
“You should not apologize. It was… his nature anyway.” Her mom said “Anyway, I’m sorry to bother all of you, I should take him home”
“I’ll see you tomorrow guys” she said
“You should rest” Clave said “Don’t let him out Ma’am”
“Thank you for your concern” her mom said as they leave.
While walking home,
“You made good friends” her mom said
“Yeah, we won today mom… we’re the interschool basketball champion”
“Congratulations then. I’m sorry I can’t watch”
“I know, you’re taking care of Aldrin”
“You’ve promised me you’ll stop pretending as your brother”
“I…”
“Do you like her?”
“Mom?”
“Trisha… you like her don’t you?”
“How did you know?”
“I’m your mother.” She paused “She’s the one your brother’s referring in his diary… the on your brother’s inlove with”
“Yeah”
“Does she know the truth?”
She shook her head
“Andrein…listen to me, you can’t right a mistake with another mistake”
“I know that mom… you know, I’m really blessed to have an understanding mother like you. How I wished back then that you should have chosen me rather than Aldrin”
“Are you mad because of that?”
“I do… but I understand though”
Her mom smiled “that’s the reason I chose him… because I know you could understand but it doesn’t mean that I love him more than you… You’re both important to me. I love you both.”
“I know that”
“You should rest for tomorrow”
“Alright… I’ll be with Aldrin tomorrow”
“Okay”
The next morning like her plan, she went to see her brother
“Hey brother… I have something to confess to you…” she said “I’m inlove with the woman you’re inlove with… I’m sorry that I used your form to make her mine. I’m really happy to be with her... but if you wake up, I promise… I’ll leave with no regrets. Aldrin… wake up so that I would not carry anymore burden… so that these feelings will soon end”
At the same time, on the same hospital
“Your bruises are healing fast. It will soon disappear” a doctor said
“I’m really happy to hear that” Trisha said
“I’ll see you again then.”
“Thank you” she said and went out.
While Trisha’s walking out of the hospital, she found a familiar figure going out from a room. “Aldrin?” she whispers “what is he doing here?” she thought “Maybe checking his knees…” She walks towards the room that ‘Aldrin’ went out “It’s a private room… who’s he visiting?” She took curiosity, slowly opened the door and looked at the person lying in the bed. “What the…” She was shock to see the person with the same face of ‘Aldrin’.
“Trisha?” someone called behind her
She looked back “Aldrin… but… who is this?” she was really confused.
Andrein was surprised to see Trisha standing in front of her brother’s bed. She went out to buy some food but when she returned she found her. There’s nothing I can do…
She’s been found out and it’s now the time for her to confess. “He’s my twin brother” she answered
“Twin brother? So he’s the brother you’ve been telling me”
“Yes, he is.” She looked at Trisha “He’s the real Aldrin”
“Aldrin?” Trisha looked at her “So then you’re?”
“I’m Andrein, his twin sister.” She confessed
There was a long silence
“Why did you do this?”
“To take revenge of what you and your bastard boyfriend did to my brother.”
“So everything was a lie then.”
“It was all planned”
“You made me fall for you so that in the end, you’ll break my heart like what I did to your brother?”
“Go away Trisha. This is the end”
“So everything was just nothing to you.” she took out her ‘ring’ “Thank you for making me the happiest woman.” Trisha said as she left the ‘ring’ on the table and walks away
As Andrein heard the door closed her tears falls…
The next morning, Andrein wakes up when she felt a hand on her head.
“Mom?” she called but she was surprised to see Aldrin looking at her at patting her head. He smiled at her. “Aldrin!” she called as she hugged him “You’re awake!”
“Can’t… breath… too… tight” Aldrin said
“Sorry… I’m gonna call mom” she said
Few minutes later,
As the doctor checked Aldrin
“Everything is fine” the doctor looked at their mom “We just need to monitor him before he could be released”
“Thank you doctor” their mother said
“I’ll be leaving you all then” the doctor said as he leave
“I’m really happy you wake up Aldrin” their mother said
“I’m gonna buy you something to eat, so I’m gonna leave. Take care of him Andrein”
“I will”
As their mom left
“I’m really happy to see you wide awake” she said
“When I woke up, you were crying beside me. Is there a problem?”
“I just missed you”
“Andrein… I can hear everything you’re saying to me. I know everything you’re doing… I know you are pretending as me”
She looked at him “I’m…”
“I wanted to stop you but I can’t… Maybe there’s a reason for everything”
“I’m really sorry”
“If you really love her, you should tell her” Aldrin said as he handed the ring “Go take her”
“She loves you”
“She loves you now”
“You love her”
“That’s why I’m letting go”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Because you’re my sister and I know you’ll take care of her.”
“Aldrin”
“Go… I’m giving you my permission to pretend as me”
She smiled “Thank you”
As the door opened, “Andrein” their mom called “Someone wanted to see you”
Clave went in “Sorry to intrude”
“Clave?” she called “What are you doing here?”
“I came here as soon as I heard the news”
“That my brother’s awake?” Andrein said “Well, I won’t cry in your shoulder”
“No… that’s not it. Trisha’s sister came by the school this morning, she was looking for you”
“Why is it?”
“Trisha committed suicide.”
“What?”
“Her sister told me to tell you… Your revenge has been granted. Trisha said before she jumps off their roof”
“Where is she? What happened to her?”
“She’s still in the hospital. Their parents are still monitoring her.”
“This is my fault”
“Andrein…” Aldrin hugged her “It is I who should be blamed for everything”
2 weeks later at the Airport,
“You should see her before you go” Aldrin said
“It’s better that I don’t. I should go”
“Andrein, when I visited her, she knew in an instance that I’m the real Aldrin. She welcome me in although her family a little furious on me. She’s smiling but I could see in her eyes, she wants you there rather than me”
“I need time Aldrin”
“Andrein!” someone called from afar.
“Clave?”
Clave runs toward her “Let’s go back” Clave said as he pulled Andrein
“Let go Clave” Andrein said as she stops him “I’m not going back”
“Trisha’s conscious, you should go talk to her”
“Please, I don’t want to see her”
“You’re an idiot”
“I know that, that’s why I can’t see her”
“Just say you’re sorry”
“It’s not that easy!”
“Let her go Clave” Aldrin said as he pulled Andrein’s hand out of Clave
“Thank you” Andrein said as she leaves
Clave looked at Aldrin “You should have convinced her! You’re selfish! You let her go because Trisha loves her now and not you anymore”
Aldrin sigh “She needed time. If they are meant together, they will be together”
“Foolish”
“You know it well don’t you? That’s why you let go of your feelings for her”
“What?”
“That they are meant”
“Shut up”
“Come on, I promised Andrein one thing before she left”
“What is it?”
“That I’ll join basketball club and be the next MVP”
Clave laughed “Seriously?”
“Seriously”
(5 months later – England)
Andrein just received a mail from Aldrin. She smiled as she saw his brother’s picture with the rest of the basketball team. Her brother really kept his promise to her. There were new members and Enson became the captain. Two months ago, Clave sent her a mail. He has been scouted by a prestigious university. His family is really happy for him. He’ll be in college and playing basketball. He also sent her his graduation picture.
No one in school knew about her pretending as her brother. Although, coach and the team were quite surprise that Andrein or Aldrin recovered fast from the injury, also, sucks at basketball the first time Aldrin entered the team. Thanks to Clave, who is secretly teaching Aldrin to play basketball, he learned to become a good player.
Andrein heard the door opened. She looked at the man who entered. “Hey dad” she said
“Hey, what are you doing?”
She turned her computer around “Aldrin sent his photo with his basketball team”
“Really.” her dad looked at his brothers photo “He looked really happy”
“He is”
“Anyway, our neighbor’s here and I think they really need help”
“Alright, let’s go help them”
As they walked outside,
“What should I do then?” She said as they reached the mover’s truck
“Here” her dad handed her a box
“This is really heavy dad”
Her dad laughed “I know you can carry that”
“Why are you always kind to neighbors?”
“Because they’re kind to us”
“Alright” she said as she walks in the neighbors house “Hello?!” she called “Where should I put this box?!” she asked
“Here” someone said from a room upstairs
She went upstairs and as she enters the room, she was surprised to see the woman in front of her. “Trisha” she called
Trisha looked at her “Andrein” she said and smiled “You’re here”
“What are you doing here?” she said as she puts down the box
“My sister’s been granted with a scholarship here. Mom and dad can’t leave home so I decided to come with her”
“Oh… That’s great… I’m leaving your thing here” she said as she turned back
Trisha grabbed her “You leave me. I’ve waited for you but you didn’t come to see me”
There was a long silence.
“I did cruel things to you” she said
“I deserve it”
“I am not the person you’re inlove with”
“You are the person I’m inlove with now”
“I’m not Aldrin”
“You’re not, you’re Andrein. You’re a woman and I fall inlove with you”
“Trisha”
“Please don’t run away from me again.”
She bows her head “Then… I’m sorry for what I did. Will you forgive me?”
“I forgive you”
“Can we start again?”
“No”
She looked at Trisha
“Let’s continue what we started. We’re married aren’t we?” Trisha said as she smiled.
Andrein smiled as she took out her necklace, on it was their wedding ring. “Their color faded over time. Maybe I should buy real rings”
Trisha smiled back “Maybe we should”
“So finally you are reunited” Kathy said “Thank me for finding her for you Trisha”
Trisha smiled at her sister “So this is the surprise you’ve been telling me”
Kathy looked at Andrein “Take good care of her”
“I will”
“Alright then, let’s finish unpacking before you two become lovely dovey” Kathy said
Andrein looked at Trisha “I’ll go get more of your things. After that, I’ll show you our house and let you meet my dad”
Trisha kissed her. “I love you”
“I love you too.”
This is real. Trisha loved her as her and not as her brother. There’s no more pretending.
Aldrin on the other hand found love at basketball. He became the interschool MVP of the year and love will surely come to his way again,
(Harrisons’ Residence)
“I thought I got rid of you” Clave said to Aldrin
“It doesn’t mean that I’ve become the MVP I’ll never train under you again” Aldrin said
“Huh… you really have the guts to say that. Anyway, today is day off.”
“Why?”
“My younger sister just arrived from her boarding school.”
“Oh.”
“Hey brother” someone called Clave. Out of the door came a young beautiful, elegant and witty woman. Alvin vision turned slowly as he saw the woman in front of him.
“Who’s he?” the woman asked
“That’s Alvin” Clave introduced “This is my younger sister, Lori. She’ll be in high school this year. Probably enrolling her at our school”
