Do me a favour and ignore the fact that she is blatantly a vampire in this gif? Thanks very much.

Things were getting progressively worse as time passed.

A couple of weeks ago Kali had taken Erica out of the cell and she hadn't returned since. Boyd didn't take this well and had become a lot angrier.

By now all three of them were on edge constantly - none of them had shifted in ages. It wasn't healthy to go that long without shifting and Athena feared what would happen when they were finally exposed to the full moon once again. If they were ever allowed out again, that was.

It didn't look like their captors had any intentions of setting them free soon. Athena couldn't help but wonder why they were still being kept alive, there must be a reason and she was sure she wouldn't like it, this made her tense.

It must have been a full moon out, or nearing it, because even through the thick walls of the vault (from the elaborate door they guessed they were being held in a vault somewhere) their tempers were rising and control was slipping.

BANG!!

Athena's head shot upwards at the sudden noise. Her eyes were immediately drawn to a fist retracting from a newly made hole in the wall.

Before she can fully comprehend what she's seeing, a beam of moonlight shone directly in her face, leaking in through the hole and reflecting throughout the room.

Athena vaguely hears a voice say her name and she thinks she hears Cora issue a warning to the newcomer. But then all rational thoughts leave her mind and she is left only with a craving for blood.

Her claws have extended and all of her senses are heightened. She can hear the rapid beating of many hearts and can smell the overwhelming stench of sweat and urine radiating from all corners of the room.

Her eyes hone in on a target. A boy stood in the entrance to the hole. She wants to feel his flesh tear beneath her claws. She wants to see his blood spill from his body and see the light leave his eyes. She wants to hear those last pathetic beats of his heart before it stops all together.

So she pounces.

When Athena wakes up, it's on a lumpy couch in a warehouse type building.

She rolls off the couch and lands in a crouched position on the floor. She surveys the room around her, ears and nose twitching for any hint of danger.

"Athena you're fine," an impatient, slightly amused voice calls out.

She snaps her head towards the sound and is caught off guard by the person in front of her.

Derek Hale. He's is tall and strong and  holds himself confidently, not unlike that teenage boy she used to know. But now there's a certain toughness to him; a cold glint in his eye and the defensive way he's standing, no matter how subtle it is.

Obviously the past 6 years have forced all of the Hale siblings to change.

"Where am I?" Athena asks, skipping all the pleasantries. She would deal with her feelings later.

"A loft house where I live."

Athena looks around at the bare room, with it's murky windows and smashed wall.

"Doesn't look all that homey," she quips.

Derek shrugged.

"Why am I here?" She demands, having enough of the silence.

"Because trying to slaughter the whole town last night made you very tired," a new, unfamiliar voice chimes in.

A boy, around her age, had come up behind Derek, his arms were crossed over his chest and he looks down at her like he's a disappointed parent.

"And who the hell are you?" She asks, anger clear in her voice.

"Stiles shouldn't you be getting to school?" Says Derek pointedly.

"I think working out whether she's a lethal murderer or not, is more important than running track at school," the boy stated bluntly, trying, and failing miserably, to shove his was past Derek.

Derek fixed him with a glare that halted his attempts, "go to school, Stiles."

The boy groaned loudly but didn't argue with Derek, turning around and stomping childishly out of a large door.

"Your standards have seriously dropped," Athena said, gesturing to the door the boy had just left from.

"I couldn't exactly hang out with my family, could I?" Derek said sarcastically.

"How did you survive anyway?" he asked.

"I don't know, I had only just gotten in from school so I was near an exit, I guess. I ran away when I heard the first screams, I was a coward." Athena hated herself for leaving her family like that, she thought she should have done something to save them. She thought she was responsible for her whole family's death. Obviously not however, seeing as two of her siblings had managed to escape the fire along with her.

"You weren't the only one clearly," Derek said, talking about himself and Cora.

"How did you make it?" Athena asked.

"I hadn't come home from school yet, basketball practise, when I did come home it was to screams and flames. There was nothing I could do to help at that point," Derek looked like he was struggling to talk about it, Athena understood how he felt. Even after so many years, the fire was a sore subject for her.

"Is there anyone else?" Athena asked, not daring to hope.

"Only uncle Peter, there was Laura as well, but Peter killed her."

Athena let out a small gasp despite herself. All the anger and sadness she had suppressed after the fire hit was returning to her, all the sheer pain and loss she suffered was coming back to slap her in the heart.

She let the news sink in and Derek let her process it in silence. Until footsteps approached them and a voice made itself known.

"Yes, I know, I'm such a terrible uncle. All I've gotten since killing Laura is grief from Derek, honestly it's not like you were even close, you two used to fight all the time."

Peter. His smug voice hadn't changed one bit over the years.

"She was family," Derek ground out, his fists clenching noticeably, "And a lot changed over the years, you wouldn't know that though, you were too busy plotting revenge in your coma."

"Oh, boo hoo, I'm family and you tore my throat out without hesitation."

Athena's eyebrows raised at this, she had clearly missed a lot.

"You were going on a psychotic killing spree," Derek pointed out bluntly.

Yeah she had definitely missed a lot.

"Where's Cora?" She asked, interrupting their death glare match.

"Your dear sister is still sleeping next door, snoring like a Chupacabra," Peter said, looking at Athena properly for the first time.

Athena nodded, not particularly keen to talk to her uncle, he had always been sly and manipulative, now he was just more open about it.

"You should get some more rest, you probably haven't slept properly in months." Derek instructed, "I'll bring you some food in a bit."

Athena nodded and slowly lowered herself back onto the couch, though she had no intentions of sleeping. Not in the same room as two people she hadn't seen in half a decade, she didn't know anything about them now - no matter how close they might have been in their past life.
