When Evie arrived at my house, she raced me upstairs.
She turned to me and said, "I know your the Viper."
My eyes widened as I let out a light laugh and said, "Oh yeah sure,
Me the Viper that's a good one, Evie. But no seriously why?"
She said, "Its just that your holding all the Vipers gear."
I looked down.
Oh shit
She continued, "And the fact you like to go to the Drag Racing track everyday."
I smiled ok it's true.
I said, "Evie, you cannot tell-"
She interrupted me, "Anyone. Got it. You can trust me."
I said, "Ok, please just don't tell anyone you know or I could get pulled out of the race."
She nodded her head placing a hand on her heart and a hand in the air.
She said out loud, "I, Evie Baker, do solemnly swear not to tell a single
Soul about Heather Sheldon's biggest secret of all time."
I sighed and said, "Good."
She immediately said, "So anyways, the dance is tomorrow are you going?"
I replied, "I don't know, my parents would probably never let me."
She said, "Well, go ask them right now."
I asked, "Now?"
She said, "Yeah, how can they say no."
I shrugged going down the stairs to give it a try.
I went to the kitchen where they were eating lunch.
I asked, "Hey mom, dad can I ask you guys something?"
Mom said, "Sure, what is it?"
They both looked at me as I asked, "You see, we are having a dance tomorrow-"
I couldn't even spit out the last of my sentence.
My dad interrupted, "Oh yes! Tomorrow, we have things you need to do."
I asked, "What kind of things?"
He said, "Clean the whole house spotless, make a midnight dinner, and outside work."
I know what your thinking - easy peasy.
No, not easy definitely not easy!
We have a three story house, the three bathrooms haven't been washed in ages,
Bob's room was disgusting, and I've never even been in my parents room.
I asked them, "A midnight dinner?"
My mom replied, "Yeah, we'll be back at midnight."
I said, "When should I start cleaning?"
My dad answered, "First thing, after school.
You will come home and start in the living room and then end in the back yard,
Then you'll make dinner."
He gave me a list of what to get at the store and what to make.
They wanted for dinner broccoli fettuccini with sesame chicken and rice.
Do you know how long that has to take to cook?
That takes me 10 hours to cook and clean everything.
My mom said, "I'm so glad we had this talk, I almost forgot."
She got up and went in the other room as so did Dad.
I walked back upstairs defeated.
Evie asked, "So, can you go or not?"
I replied, "I have to clean every room in the house and in the backyard.
Then, I have to cook an hour meal. They said that they would be home by midnight."
She sighed and said, "I bet it's not that bad, c'mon let's go look at your brothers room."
Luckily, Bob wasn't home.
We walked to the third floor to his door.
I put a hand over her and said, "Wait, I must warn you what your about to see."
She gave me a questioning look and asked, "What am I about to see?"
I replied, "Disgusting stench, food for days, super messy, the stench is going to make your eyeballs fall out."
She stopped me there and said, "Heather, your being a little dramatic."
She opened the door as I closed my eyes tightly
I heard her yell, "Holy motherfucker!"
I opened my eyes to see this:
The most messiest room in the world.
She said, "I can't believe you have to clean this up all by yourself."
I shrugged and said, "It's ok. I'm use to the punishments and torture."
She said, "C'mon, I need to get my mind off of this room."
I asked, "Where are we going?"
She smiled and said, "You'll see."
She closed the door softly and said, "Don't want to disturb it."
I rolled my eyes as I followed her, down the stairs, on the road, to the DX.
Of course she wants to see her boyfriend.
As soon as she opened the door, he walked over to us.
I just had to move around them somehow and get inside.
It was kind of hard considering they were blocking the front door.
But when I did get around them, I tripped over my shoe running into Soda.
I'm such a Klutz - I said to myself.
I was on top of him, and we were both on the floor.
He said, "You could've just said hi."
I smiled looking into his eyes.
But unfortunately, he got out from underneath me standing up.
He held a hand out to me as I gladly took it standing up.
I looked back at our hands as he did the same.
He let go as he walked behind the counter.
I sighed turning around and seeing that Steve and Evie were looking at us.
I shook my head no as she looked at him letting go and coming towards me.
She whispered in my ear, "You'll never know until you try."
I looked back up at Soda to see Steve talking to him.
I whispered back to her, "Just not today."
I slowly walked out of the DX and to my house.
I decided to go to bed early since I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow.
Inside I was really hoping Soda's heart chose to ask me to the dance.
But even if he did it would be impossible to go.
