Sophie's Pov~

I hated my life. I felt like I was going to kill myself any minute. But I didn't. My parents beat me. They beat me when they were sober, but when they were drunk..... that was a whole different story...

They told me that I was stupid and ugly. When I was ten years old I ran away. I realized I couldn't live on the streets so I came back.

I walked through the front door and saw my parents in the living room, each of them holding a beer bottle in their hands. The smell of alchohol lingered through the air. There were emty bottles spread across teh coffee table and broken ones scattered across the floor.

"Hey, Rob!" Mom said, standing up from her seat on the couch. She nodded her head in my direction. "Little Miss Ugly is back." Her words were slurred. He walked over to me and punched me in the stomach.

"You shouldn't have come back Sophie," he whispered in my ear. I let out a loud cry as pain rushed through my body and tears streamed down my face. I fell to the ground, pulling my knees up to my chest. "Leave!! No one loves you, and no one will ever love you, Sophie! Get out my house!!" he screamed at me.

I scrambled to my feet and ran out the door that I had come through a  few minutes ago. As I ran away from the small house, I heard them laughing at me. God, I hated them so much.

I ran and ran. By the time the sun was going down, I stopped in a dark alley to rest. I barely got any sleep that night beacause cars were driving by constantly. As soon as I woke up, I got back on my feet and ran again. I had to get as far away from them as possible.

After a few days of running, I finally came to a nice city called San Diego. Yes, I was in California, like I was my whole life.

I walked into a building with a big, colorful sign that said 'Families For Children'. I was guessing that it was a foster home. I was right. When I got to the front desk I told the lady my childhood story. She began to cry. She showed me a room with ten beds. I walked over to the only vacant bed that was all the way in the back. The other little girls looked at me as I made my way to my bed.

Six years passed by. Now I'm sixteen years old. I was the one who never got adopted, the one who was always quiet when I was was spoken to. No one even bothered to look at me. But when they did, they just went to the next little girl. Every week I saw one of my friends getting adopted but never me. I really wanted to leave this foster home. They had terrible food and hard beds. I cried myself to sleep just about every night. I wish I could start my life over, but we all knew that wasn't possible.

Every day that passed by without me getting adopted felt like no one loved me. Maybe I was ugly. Is that why no one adopted me? My parent were right, no one could ever love me.

One day a lady came in looking for a child to adopt. She looked like a business woman. She wore a     nice business suit, black high heels, and to top it all off, a necklace that looked like it cost thousands of dollars. The anonymous woman walked around the room where all the children were playing. She walked over to the back where I was.

"I would like to adopt.... her," she said pointing to me.

"Me?" I asked. I might finally be getting adopted!

"Yes, you," she said smiling at me. I got up and walked towards her. We went to the front desk and in a few minutes, I was adopted! When we went outside, I saw a beautiful, white limo parked in front of the foster home.

"Is that yours?" I asked.

"Well of course it is," she said letting out a little chuckle. When we got into her limo, I saw food. Like actual food, not the mushy stuff that they serve you in the foster home. "Would you like some food?" She asked me.

"Yes ma'am!" I said, nodding eagerly at her. She handed me a red velvet cupcake with vanilla icing. "Thank you!"

"Don't worry about it. And call me mom," she said smiling at me. A tear fell down my face when she said the word mom. "Oh.. I'm so sorry. Call me Mrs. Laura," she apologized.

"It's ok," I said. "I hated her anyways." I mumbled the last part.

"What?"

"Oh nothing." When we got to her house, I saw a large gate. When the limo drove through the gate, I saw a  modern mansion. "It's beautiful," I said, staring at in awe. Is she rich!?

"Thank you," she replied. We walked into the house and a housekeeper, I guess, took Mrs. Laura's coat. Mrs. Laura showed me my new bedroom which was on the second floor. My room was painted pink and yellow. Above my king sized bed were the words Rock Star. This room was awesome! I loved it.

"I see you like it!" Mrs. Laura said looking at my face. "All the way to the right of your bedroom is your very own bathroom."

My own bathroom? Wow I'm glad I was adopted ! "M-my own bathroom!"

"Yep! Now if you want to, you can go take a shower and change into some of the clothes in your walk-in closet.

"I have a walk-in closet too?!" I exclaimed. "And I will go and take my shower now."

"Ok! Come downstairs when you're ready. I have somethi-- I mean someone for you to meet."

"Ok!" I went into my bathroom and took off my old clothes. I hopped into the shower and I felt the nice warm water splashing on my skin. At the foster home we could only bathe in cold water. Once I was done with my shower, I wrapped a towel around my body and walked over to my closet. Wowww!!!! The closet was huge-- at least for a closet. There was a few clothes but hopefully I would get more. I got a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. I went downstairs and I saw Mrs. Laura sitting in the living room talking to someone.

"Oh hi! I see you are all clean!!" Mrs. Laura said when she noticed that I was walking into the living room

"Yep!" I said looking at the boy next to her.

"Oh this is my son Troy. A.K.A America's biggest star." Mrs. Laura said. Really he doesn't look like a star to me...

"Oh! Cool!" I said.

"Yea. And what's your name?" He asked.

"My name is Sophie." I said.

"Well, nice to meet you ,Sophie," he said as he held out his hand for me to shake it.

I walked over to him and shook his hand. "Nice to meet you too."

Silence.

Mrs. Laura broke the silence, "So do you want me to give you a tour of the house?"

"Yes please!" I said. We got up and started the tour. As we were leaving the living room I turned around and waved goodbye to Troy. He waved back.

There was an indoor swimming pool, a record studio where Troy recorded his songs. Oh ok so he's a singer...  There was a nice game room, a party room, and a small library. This house was really nice. After the tour I went back up to my room and fell asleep.
