The next five days had been spent doing the whole publicity thing; panels, concerts and such, but the sixth day was reserved for the touristy stuff. We had so far, gone shopping, saw a concert ourselves, and took a boat tour around the town, we were headed to an aquarium, The Shedd to be exact. Now I know what you're thinking, how did they possibly do that without being stampeaded?! Well I'll tell you...
It was a beautifully warm day in Chicago, and it therefore, wasn't out of the ordinary to be wearing sunglasses while walking around. I was extremely surprised to see Chicagans wearing their winter clothes though. They were all in jeans, jumpers and coats, looking like it was two degrees out. Now I understand that I'm from England, therefore anything even remotely warm is warm to me, but still! I was wearing shorts, a T-Shirt, and sandals! How could they not die of heat stroke?!
Anyways, when we walked into Shedd, I knew this would be interesting. Not only because of the obvious, the boys being... Themselves. But also because I had a slight phobia of aquariums... I know it sounds stupid, but think if the tanks would break! That would be a catastrophe! Anyways, we went straight to a dolphin show. This was something I actually wasn't afraid of, since we were in bleachers, watching the dolphins doing jumps and all that. I was actually pretty excited. We went straight to the back, where we had a view of everything and everyone there.
"I'm so excited." Liam grinned. "I hear that they pick people to get in and swim with them."
"But then we'd be spotted!" I reminded him.
"Oh I doubt it, I'd be in a wetsuit, and my hair wet." he shrugged.
"Whatever you say..." I said, not really believing him, yet what were the odds that he would be picked? We were in the back after all... Apparently the odds were really good.
"Any volunteers to help us out?" A man asked about halfway through the show. Liam sat straight up and waved his hand in the air.
"You up there!" the guy called across the large room, pointing to him.
"Yes!" He yelled happily, and ran down to the guy's side.
"Now come with me, you're going to help me feed the dolphins." The man waved for Liam to follow him past some gates. I sat waiting anxiously for him to walk out by the dolphins, waiting for him to be caught.
"So how do you think this is going to go?" I asked Harry nervously.
"I'm sure he'll be fine..." He mumbled. Then flipped his hair. Yup, he was was REAL sure.
"He's a real nice swimmer, they'll pay attention to that." Niall said reassuringly. I nodded, still nervous. Finally, I saw them start to walk out of a small cave-like structure. I smiled at angry Liam, still wearing his Bermudas, a short sleeved flannel and sunglasses. He wasn't swimming!
Then the "Liam Portion of the Show" as we would later refer to it, began. Basically, he just sat on a little rock right by the water, and would occasionally throw treats in the air so that the dolphins would jump to catch them, while the workers swam with them. It was quite interesting, but after he had done it about eight times, it was starting to get old. Like really old. I leaned back and let out an irritated sigh, along with the rest of the boys. How did this place get money again? That's when it happened. There were a few sporadic splashes, and everyone looked down to see the worker guy that had chosen Liam was drowning. He didn't say a word, just tried and failed to regain his steady floating. From across the pool, the other workers started to come to help him, but before they reached him, there was another splash. Liam had jumped in.
He swam a short distance of about two meters to reach him, then grabbed a wrist, and pulled. At first, he resisted, and I tensed up. What if something happened to Liam?! But of course, he knew what to do, and flipped the man so that he was laying face up, and tugged him to the rock. From here, he did a little CPR, until the guy coughed, and sat up. The fellow employees took it from there, and took him to be checked out. Only one stayed, and he took Liam by the hand. They walked out to the front of the bleachers. And I noticed the black pair of sunglasses sinking to the bottom of the pool. Oh no...
"Thank you so much. This young man just saved a life!" He exclaimed. "Let's give him a hand!" Everyone clapped politely, while we looked about in shock. Was no one going to recognize him?"
"THAT'S LIAM PAYNE!" Someone screamed. Nope...
At this, Liam tried to help. "No, I'm... Bill!" He finally called out, trying his best at an American accent. No listened, they knew he was lying, they swiveled around, looking for the rest of the band. They spotted us.
"THERE THEY ARE!" They squealed.
"Uh, we're from Tennessee..." Niall said in his Southern accent.
"And I'm from Chicago." Zayn added.
"Oh my Gawd!" Harry squealed in his Valley Girl, only thing in an American accent he could do, voice.
"And I'm from Narnia!" Louis smirked.
They all turned to me expectantly. I turned to face the boys and did a little jump.
"Woah! It's One Direction!" I exclaimed.
--------------------
"So what's your favorite thing about America?" A girl a few rows down asked.
That's right, the boys were answering questions. The crowd had started chanting "Q and A, Q and A" so loud that they couldn't help but oblige, I didn't blame them. It was sweet of them to do. Not that they didn't enjoy it though, they loved "Their Girls."
"Everyone's so enthusiastic!" Niall grinned, which sent a chorus of cheers through the crowd. It had been like this for about an hour. The boys announced that they would take one more question.
"Who's she?" A fellow Ginger girl asked, smiling.
"Well this is Lily." Harry grinned, putting his arm around my waist.
"But Lily has blonde hair!" A girl called out.
"I... Uh... Dyed it!" I said in response so quickly I forgot the voice.
"She doesn't sound like that either..."
"It's that Amy chick!" Someone called out. And cue the mumbles of insults.
"No! It's not what you think, really... It's... She..." Harry stumbled over his words. I looked at the ground, here we go again... Until someone came to my aid.
"Lovelys. I have an announcement to make. Listen up." he said, to quiet them down. "Harry isn't cheating with Amy. Amy's..." Was he going to blow the secret?! "My girlfriend." My head whipped up. Did Lou really just say that?! There was a gasp in the crowd, and mine was part of it.
"You guys are hearing it first. Eleanor and I broke up because... well we just grew apart, but we were going to gradually ease everyone into it instead of releasing a big thing with the press. I guess it doesn't matter anymore." he shrugged. "Come here Love, you don't have to act anymore." He motioned for me to come over, and wrapped his arm around my waist as Harry had done not too long ago.
I was in shock, the part about Eleanor was true... But the rest... Not so much. Would they buy it? Everyone was silent, then slowly nodded. They didn't seem to care, they were fine with it. I was really starting to like America.
"But what about her and Harry kissing?" A girl called out.
"I had a wig on... I guess I could've picked a little better." he laughed. I followed his example.
"Anyways! We have to go now! See you tomorrow at our concert!" Harry called, and motioned for us to go out in the hall, we didn't want to risk them thinkin git out too much with us there. There was clapping, and screaming as we walked outside.
"Louis!" I smiled. "I don't know how I can thank you!" I pulled him into a huge hug.
"Don't mention it Jamie." He laughed.
"Let's not fight ever again." I sighed.
"I don't think I could survive the flight back without talking." He smirked.
"Me neither. And who knows what I could break this time?" I giggled, as we all started to walk out to our van, which was scheduled to pick us up at this time.
"Yeah, sorry about that..."
"Eh, I was being pretty annoying." I shrugged.
"Yeah you were." He snorted.
I slapped his arm lightly. "You were too." I laughed, as we drove back to our hotel, for once, not in silence.
---------------------------------------------------------
One more thing! Oh gosh, One Thing! I'm sorry, that's a bad joke. Anyways, they'll be going to New York pretty soon, and I've never been there, so I'm going to have a hard time describing it, and having them do things other than interviews and concerts. If any of you could help me out, that would be brilliant.(:
Thanks! xx
