My Dream: A Day with My Love

69 25 19
By EdwinJohnA

The sun had risen,
Hours before:
Saw I,
As my eyes opened,
Draining my sleep.

I got up
From the comfy bed.
The light seemed
As of the tenth hour.

My eyes shed off
The strong sleepiness,
And I moved
Out of my room,
To her room,
After a one second's prayer.

She's still sleeping.
Lightly,
I gave her a shake.
She replied me a growl -
A growl of sleep and wake,
Eyes opened half.
And, she slid off
Back to sleep.

I brushed my teeth,
And came back to her.
Shook her again.
She woke up;
Gifted me
A morning smile.

It's time for breakfast.

Batter to make Dosa,
An Indian round food,
Was ready for the day.
We took up
The kitchen together.
And I made Dosas,
As she forged
Chutney for those.
We did the food,
And ate it fast;
Never even bothered
Of the dining table.

After we ate,
She washed all plates,
All by but herself.
I hate water.
I played on phone,
Our favorite song-
'You are my sunshine.'

And, then,
After cookering
Some rice for lunch,
We stepped out
To launder the clothes.
She thrashed the clothes
On the wash-rock to clean,
And I rinsed them.
We played
Splashing waters,
Enjoying the fun,
Though, I hate water.

And,
To the terrace, we took,
Those washed clothes.
And then, did I
Take off the dried ones
Of the previous day;
She hung,
The wet ones
Of the current day.
Together did we
Finish that work,
And came down
With all dried clothes,
After spending minutes five,
At her favorite spot -
The vast terrace.

The rice was cooked,
Her granny made a dish,
And we did try
Another dish quick.
To the table, we took,
All those food,
And sat round it,
We three dears.
And, my seat
Was next to a
Flower vase she did.

After that hearty meal,
We clambered up
Back to the terrace,
And then,
To her favorite spot there.
We both did climb
The slanting roof,
And spend some time,
With rejoicing hearts.

Then, down came we,
To her dear room.
We got in to her bed.
She sat legs straight.
I lied in her lap.
Her smooth soft fingers
Stroked my hair.
We talked for hours.
And, me,
A lover of afternoon nap,
Did sleep
There - in her lap.

And, then,
For the evening
She took me out
To the vastness
Of that big city.

And then,
We were back home,
And we started
Preparing for a cake.
We together beat
Batter for the cake -
Pineapple Upside-down cake;
Didn't get materials
For a black forest cake-
My favorite.

We together made
The delicious cake,
And, I ate it
Yum yum yummy.
We both had
A good awesome fight
To have more of the cake.
And at last,
I she won the fight
To have those crumps.

Later,
Together we did
The dinner, and
Ate it tummy full.

And, then,
After long talks and plays,
We went back to sleep.
I hadn't closed my eyes,
But before that
I saw her coming
Running to me.
What's it?
She is afraid!
Something scared her.
Poor she.
I gave her
A space in my bed.
And, stroked her hair,
Caressed her hands,
Shoulder to paw,
Until she slept.
I saw her sleep
Comfy and relaxed.
And, then,
I too slept,
Deep and strong.

This, this is my dream.
And one day,
I will taste its cream.
I will live with her,
At least a day,
As her little brother.
Giving her only happiness.
Letting her shed
Not a tear at all.

For a poetry competition.
Did it in a rush.... Most probably, I would revise it.
