(NATHAN'S POINT OF VIEW)

I watched her run back off into the crowd. I should have told her… why was I so afraid to?

“Nathan why did she look so upset?” Sabrina asked sounding very concerned. I turned to her and looked her in the eyes. I grabbed her hands covering them completely because they were so small.

“Love, I really don’t know… I guess I will talk to her later. Don’t worry about it ok?” I said leaning down and giving her a soft peck on the lips. She smiled and pulled me towards the dance floor. I stiffened knowing that Liz was here but apparently Sabrina forgot. I glanced around while dancing and saw Liz dancing with Bradley and a few others looking as happy as ever. I relaxed a bit hoping that she was ok and happy now. The relaxed moment ended when I caught her glaring at me. I turned to look at her and our eyes locked. The deep hazel eyes that looked full of pain and regret. “Hey babe I will be right back, I am going to go see if I can talk to her now.” I said still holding eye contact with Liz.

“Ok please be easy on her she has been through a lot lately,” she said rubbing my back in circular motions. I glanced down at her and smiled before turning back to Liz. I walked up to her and she stood there stiff. “Look Liz…” I began only to be cut off by her.

“No Nathan I don’t want to talk about this. I am not letting you in my life. I was about to give you a chance earlier… but you didn’t tell me anything!” she snapped causing me to flinch at her harsh words.

“Liz please let me ex-…” I tried to say but was once again cut off. She pushed me and the hurt in her eyes where gone and now replaced with anger. I looked down at her and then around and noticed that we were drawing people’s attention.

“NO! GET AWAY FROM ME!” she screamed pushing me again. I grabbed her by her wrists and saw the tears that were on the edge of her eyes. A hand grabbed my shoulder and tightened making me let go of her wrists and reach for my shoulder in pain.

“she said get away… now I suggest you get away before I step in for her.” Bradley growled turning me to look at him. I flinched at his anger filled eyes and started to back-up.

“Look I am sorry. I am just trying to explain to Lindsey what’s goi-…” I started to say trying to fix the problem when his fist hit me at a high speed. I fell backwards and grabbed my face in pain.

“BRADLEY! Stop it! I am mad but this isn’t how I wanted to settle it! I just wanted him to leave me alone! NOT GET PUNCHED IN THE FACE!” Lindsey screamed holding Bradley back with everything she had. She glanced over her shoulder to look at me and my blood covered face. I saw a glance of regret in her eye but was quickly replaced with the ones from before… anger and sadness. Soon after Bradley calmed down and walked off leaving the confused and worried looks of all of their friends to stare at me. Well more me and Lindsey, she looked at me for what seemed like forever and I got the hope that she was going to forgive me.

She had compassion in her and even if she was mad at you she would still help. She bent down to help me up when our eyes met for the third time tonight. They had the look of kindness in them and what seemed like forgiveness. I smiled a little and she blushed and looked down in what I take it embarrassment.

“OH MY GOSH! NATHAN ARE YOU OK?” Sabrina screamed and ran up to me practically knocking everyone out of her way.  I glanced at Lindsey who was now looking the other direction and the kindness had vanished and replaced with nothing. I watched her get up and leave the moment Sabrina fell to the floor beside me. A frown crossed my face and I couldn’t help but watch her retreating body start to blur with everyone else’s.

“Here let’s get you to the bathroom to clean that bloody nose up shall we?” Sabrina said tugging on my arm. I nodded and gave her a grateful smile and we headed off to the bathroom. “Nathan who in the world did this to you?” Sabrina asked while wetting a towel. I glanced around the room not wanting to answer her question. “Nathan have you like zoned out of something? Tell me who did that is you.” she demanded.

“I um… fell. No one did this to me. It was my fault.” I said trying not to flinch back from her as she wiped my nose.

She sighed and I turned to look at her. “What did I say something wrong?” I asked looking a bit confused. She had a bit of sadness in her eyes and then turned away.

“It’s nothing… don’t worry about it.” She said grabbing the alcohol for the cuts that I somehow got. I started to feel a little concerned about her and grabbed her hands.

“Look Sabrina tell me what’s wrong, I need to know. I want to fix this problem; I don’t like seeing you upset.” I softly said and made her look me in the eyes. She sighed again and took a seat across from me.

“Look Nathan I know how you feel about Lindsey… I see the way you look at her and how you always seem to brighten up when she walks into the room. The way you two watch each other leave and laugh at each other’s jokes. I am not stupid… you have feelings for her.” She mumbled finally.

My eyes widened in shock and she noticed it because she started to tear up. “Oh no Sabrina I don’t have feelings for her. I care about you…” I said caressing her cheek. “I see thousands of people each day but there is only one person I really look forward to seeing at the end of each day and that’s you.”

She started crying and jumping into my arms. “Oh Nathan I love you!” she practically yelled in my ear. I smiled and hugged her back before getting up, “let’s get going I am feeling a little lightheaded.” She nodded in agreement and headed out the front door to head home.

She really thought I liked Lindsey… I mean Lindsey is pretty and her blonde hair shines in the sunlight when she runs on the beach but I don’t like her. I mean I do get lost in her beautiful hazel eyes but … but… WAIT A SECOND WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT HER LIKE THIS! Oh no please tell me I don’t have feelings for her, I couldn’t even tell Sabrina I loved her because I don’t know anything yet. Why does this have to be so difficult?

I reached my house and walked into my house to find a note on the table.

Dear Nathan,

Your mother and I decided to go out tonight. We won’t be back till really late so when you get home make sure you lock all the doors. If we are not back then you know where we are… probably spending the night at the cabin. See you soon!

-Love dad

I shuttered at the thought of them spending the night at the cabin and tried to slap the mental picture out of my head. I thought for a moment and remembered that when Lindsey was upset that she would go to her favorite spot to think. I smiled to myself and ran out the back door.

The beach was quiet of course because it was like one in the morning, but I couldn’t help but take in the beauty of the waves crashing against the rocks that lead to Lindsey’s favorite spot. I walked along the broken pieces of rock till I reached the opening to the cave. I heard talking and jumped with joy in my head as I slowly made my way to the entrance.

“Lindsey? Can we talk?” I whispered not sure why though. I heard a long sigh and then the patting of wet sand telling me that she wanted me to sit. I walked over to her and sat down putting a small smile on my face.

“Look Nathan I am sorry about you getting punched in the face. It was my fault I over reacted to the whole dating thing.” Lindsey mumbled while tracing hearts in the sand. I looked at her face hoping to catch a glimpse of her remarkable eyes. “I heard your conversation with Sabrina in the bathroom… do you think she was serious about the whole you liking me part? You know like the brightening up when you see me thing?” she asked and I noticed she must be nervous.

I didn’t know what to say. I thought for a moment and realized that it wouldn’t be smart to say yes because of the fact that she is Sabrina’s best friend it would be wrong. “No I don’t think she realized that I have feeling for her…” I said trying not to look around because it would have been obvious that I was lying.

“Oh… ok yea, what was I thinking. That was stupid she should know you have feelings for her.” She said and it sounded like she was stuttering. “Um I have to go…” she said quickly while getting up and dashing away not even giving me a chance to say goodbye. I grew a little confused but then got up and started to head home.

Could she possibly like me too? She sounded kind of upset after I said that… no she doesn’t, she loves Bradley.
