Louis stepped inside Niall's room, his heart heavy with the news he had just received.
Niall was still sleeping but the doctor told Louis that he would be waking up any moment now.
So the Doncaster lad grabbed a stool and sat next to his friend's bed.
He took Niall's hand in his own and slowly stroked the back of his hand.
It wasn't after much long that Niall stirred and groaned a little.
Louis' head snapped towards him and he was up in a moment.
"Hey Nialler." Louis said softly as he stroked his hair.
"Hi." Niall's voice was groggy.
"How are you feeling?"
"Sore." Niall answered shortly.
"I don't remember anything to be honest." Niall continued.
"It's alright, I'm glad you're alright." Louis said softly.
Niall weakly smiled;
"Yeah.... At least me and my baby are alright." he said as he moved his hand towards his stomach.
Louis' heart shattered on hearing that.
Another confirmation that Niall didn't know.
There was still a little bump on his stomach, which was really just a swell now.
Louis guessed Niall felt the difference as he furrowed his eyebrows and proceeded to lift his hospital gown up with his good hand.
"Wait Niall!" Louis said just before Niall could lift the gown;
"Before you do anything, it's best that you hear it first."
"Louis?" Niall questioned.
"Just know that none of this is your fault. It's what fate had decided for you." Louis tries easing his friend into it.
"Louis you're scaring me." Niall's breath quickened.
"N-Nialler...... The baby...... Um...." Louis stuttered.
"Louis." Niall said through gritted teeth. Tears threatening to spill.
"The baby couldn't make it Niall." Louis said softly as he hung his head low.
Niall's hand immediately went limp in Louis grip and he let out a heart wrenching sob.
"N-no Louis." He sobbed.
"Niall please don't-"
"NO!" Niall shouted cutting Louis off.
"IT CAN'T BE LOUIS!!" Niall continued shouting.
Louis noticed the heart monitor beeping at an alarming rate.
"Niall please calm down. This isn't good for you!" Louis said loudly as he stood up and grabbed Niall's hand.
The blonde lad continued thrashing while his friend tried desperately to calm him down.
Niall soon calmed down enough by Louis' soft words and mainly because he got tired.
He lay limo on the hospital bed as he stared at Louis;
"Why would this happen to me Louis?" He muttered weekly.
"I was taking such good care of my baby Louis Lou..... Or that's what I thought." he scoffed at the last part.
This is what Louis was afraid of;
Niall blaming himself.
"Ni this isn't your fault."
"But it is Lou. The baby was inside me. I was supposed to take care of my baby."
"Ni please-" But Niall once again cut Louis off.
"My baby was the only good thing happening in my life Louis." Niall muttered quietly as another tear escaped his blue eyes.
Niall soon fell asleep and after checking in with the doctor-who told Louis that Niall would probably sleep through the night- and seeing as visiting hours were almost over, Louis decided to head home.
Home.
That's the first time Louis called Harry's place home.
But he wasn't sure if they were ready for such a step in their relationship.
As Louis was driving up Harry's driveway, he finally looked at his mobile and noticed he had several texts and missed calls from Harry.
The moment he stepped through the door, Harry engulfed him in a hug.
"Baby!" Harry sighed as he took his lover in his arms.
Louis immediately hugged back, needing a shoulder to lean on to.
"I was so worried about you baby." Harry continued as Louis buried his face in Harry's neck.
"Why didn't you answer my calls or texts."
"I had too much to handle at the time." Louis sighed.
"Niall?" Harry finally removed himself from the hug, still keeping his arms around Louis' waist.
"He's alright...... Kind of..." Louis frowned.
"The baby?" Harry asked.
Louis slowly shook his head and looked down.
Harry softly kissed the feathery haired lads head and whispered an 'it's gonna be okay.'
"Maybe I should tell Liam now." Louis wondered.
"If that's what you wanna do." was Harry's reply.
Louis slowly nodded and made his way upstairs to Liam's room, finding him sitting in his bed, leaning against the head board with his eyes closed.
Liam's eyes shot open the moment he heard the door open.
"Louis." he sighed as he sat a bit straighter.
"How are you Liam?" Louis asked, not sure how to approach the matter.
Liam just nodded before he sighed once again;
"How's Niall?" he asked instead.
"Niall's okay. He has a broken arm and some cuts and bruises but nothing life threatening." Louis answered.
Liam just looked at the man in front of him, waiting for him to continue.
"The baby......um..... The baby unfortunately couldn't make it." He said softly.
Liam closed his eyes inhaling a sharp breath.
He opened his eyes again and thumbed at a few tears;
"This is what I deserve, isn't it?" Liam stated more than he questioned.
"No it's not. No one deserves it Liam." Louis assured him.
"I'm so fucked up. I was so horrible to Niall about the pregnancy. And the worst part is that I actually like Niall." Louis' eyes widened a little at the confession. "I was beginning to warm up to the idea of a baby....... my baby. But them suddenly all if this is taken away from me."
Louis wasn't sure how to respond back to that, so he kept quiet.
After telling Liam all about the accident-how it was a hit and run and how the truck was carrying illegal matter-, Liam listened to all of this with a clenched jaw, Louis left the room and went downstairs to spend some time with Harry and his kids.
He soon fell asleep because he wanted to be early at the hospital in the morning.
However, he couldn't get much sleep.
Liam however swore to himself that he was gonna find out who did this to his family.......

And he was gonna ruin them.
