The Beginning of the End

'Everything that has a beginning has an end.'

The Apocalypse, the end of the world. We all know it's coming because it's very nature of life, the Universe, and everything. The most likely scenario is that a global pandemic destroys life as we know it, or that some insane bastard - looking at you, North Korea - decides that launching a few nuclear warheads is a suitable cure for the boredom and monotony of life. There's always the chance that a rogue asteroid or meteor hits the planet - I mean, it's happened before. And of course if you're one of those misinformed individuals who believes the Earth is only about 6,000 years old then there's always the Rapture.

Regardless, it's coming and to be fair there's probably not a whole lot we can do about it.

Science Fiction has tackled its fair share of apocalyptic scenarios and to be fair, us Sci-Fi writers have some pretty vivid imaginations. I mean, we know that if an asteroid is on a collsion course with Earth, all we gotta' do is send a team of drillers up there to destroy it by dropping a nuclear device to the core, or if aliens attack we need Will Smith.

Apocalyptic Sci-Fi is probably the most diverse of all the sub-genres because there are so many ways that life on Earth could come to an end. I mean let's be honest, all it'd take is for the planet to warm up just a little bit and the majority of us would drown.

How do we know that the world hasn't already ended and that what we consider to be our life is nothing more than a complex computer generated reality to keep us busy whilst an alien race harvests our organs and bodily fluids to fuel their space ships whilst waging war on equally as advanced a species?

So let's get interactive, right here right now. In the comments section below, tell us how you think the world is going to end. What we consider to be the most imaginitive response will receive mention in next month's issue of Tevun-Krus!

Oorah, mothertroopers!
