A month later

Can't believe I'm finally here. So, here I am fixing my beautiful red-laced cloak and of course that much-awaited mortar board (graduation cap). College is finally ending today and a new beginning is just around the corner.

Had a sleepover at my place yesterday and Meerab, Asma and I literally cried our hearts out, because we're all going to miss each other so much after we get separated, well actually, after I get separated and leave for New York. We've been best friends since first grade and have been inseparable ever since. We lived in our own little world as psychopaths, clowns, fan girls, nerds, laughing hyenas and many other titles that people gave us. Well, we obviously were equally criticized by others, but we'd always shake it off our shoulders and be ourselves.

I stepped on stage with my head held high and heard the audience roar with cheers and claps, where the loudest that could be heard were of my family and friends'. I gave my sentimental graduation speech, thanking everyone who were a part of this beautiful journey from my childhood to this date,

I also cracked a few jokes to lighten the atmosphere, and I even cried at the last part because I was going to miss every day of my life spent in this second home of mine. Asma and Meerab started welling up too, because I had a separate portion of my speech dedicated to them.

I finished my speech and stepped off the stage with the final words "This will be the end of a beautiful journey and the beginning of a new life. I don't know what life has in store for me, but what I do know is, I'm going to face it, and never going to let anyone beat me in my marathon for success. Thank you."

I am a total emotional wreck, and so you can imagine how I spent the rest of my day today. I chatted with all my friends writing one meter long inboxes letting them know how much they mean to me. I messaged each one of the DhoomBros telling them excitedly that I was on my way to New York in a few days, and of course nobody saw my message except Waqas and replied to me, sending me prayers of safe travel and many well wishes on my graduation. He's so damn sweet.

I even sent a special message to Hussain saying.

Hey Hussain, I'll be in New York in a few days, and I shall meet up with you, and you know this time, it ain't gonna be pictures, it's gonna be chittars (beating) . LOL :P see I just rhymed :D Im awesome ;) ok, ok ziada hogaya? :P jk why would I even want to hurt you :') I'm gonna teach you a lesson for not talking to us becharay dhoomies. :P So, I guess I'm day dreaming now -_- I'm not even sure if I'll ever meet you, but let's just day there's still a faint hope. Ok, so gotta go byee :) ..... Oh, Oh and what about that surprise you guys talked about A MONTH AGO -_- like dbnation is dying here :P so puhleasee tell us what it is, soon :')

And with that I shut my laptop screen and went out my room.

Salman jumps up to my face and pushes me back in my room and shakes the car keys in his hand motioning for me to get ready and runs downstairs. I step out of the house into my car in a pretty shocking pink kameez (pakistan's cultural dress shirt) and black studded tights. Ah ! The comfort of being Desi. Salman turns up the music and we jam to the loudest volume to our favourite beats.

Soon, we reach a cafe and hang out there. Salman start the conversation with a deep sigh. "Yaar Lia. You know how much I hate you, and our never ending fights, and you attacking me like an orangutan escaped from the zoo, and with me counter attacking you like a jaguar...."

"Jaguar? Really Salman? Hahahaha, you piece of tatti, how dare you call me an orangutan!" I exclaim, cutting him off. Thank God the cafe was empty or people would just turn their heads 360 degrees to our table. You know, typical Desi habits.

"Ok naa, lemme finish. so basically the point is, no matter how many times a day I say I hate you, just remember it's a constant reminder of me letting you know how much I really love you Lia, and I'm really gonna miss you." I could see him trying to hold his tears in.

"Paglay !" I cried, cocking one of my smiles at him. I drag my seat from in front of him and go place it next to his and sit down, putting my arm around his neck. "You don't have to remind me that everyday, mein jaanti hun ke tum mujhse kitna pyaar kartay ho, haan itni awesome behan tumhe kahaan mile gi" I boast, jerking up my collar.

I continued. "Par mein viyaah karke tenu chad ke thori naa jaa rahi aan khotay." I chuckle, and yes I have Punjabi origins since my parents are Punjabi but we moved from Lahore to Islamabad a long time back.

"Dude imma just go there for studies, I'll be back here every vacation, and we'll have the time of our lives."

Salman smiled. "Viyaah se yaad aaya, Lia, parhne to jaa hi rahi ho, par khyaal rakhna, baad mein pata chale mera brother-in-law next vacation yahaan pohncha hua ho tumhaare saath. Aisi koi harkat na karna Ye duniya bohat zaalim hai babe, you can trust no one except your family."

I carefully listened to every word he said and took it in a if I were being given the most important lecture in my life. "Don't worry, I'll be careful. Thanks man." and I hug him.

We both went home and I started packing. I was to leave in two days for New York, and I was excited as ever but in some part of me, I still had fear.
