William's POV- December 2016
"What time is your flight tomorrow?"
I looked at Mariana and frowned.
"Don't remind me about that" I replied.
I had told my parents that Mariana and I were back together. They were pretty happy, and wanted me to invite her to spend New Years with me. I didn't exactly know how to bring that up.
"We're going to be fine, ok?"
I nodded as she cupped my cheek and lightly brushed her thumb against it.
"I love you" I told her.
She smiled.
"You do-"
She cut me off by covering my mouth.
"I love you too, but you need to calm down because I can feel you shaking"
I took a deep and shaky breath and nodded.
"Why are you crying?"
"I'm just happy" I admitted.
She smiled and pushed my hair back as I sniffled. I laughed as she used my own shirt to clean my face.
"We'll be ok"
I had to ask.
"Spend New Years with me and my family" I told her.
She looked at me and nodded slowly.
"Ok"
I leaned in and closed my eyes as her lips connected with mine. She deepened the kiss and I tried to straddle her but she pulled away.
"Let's slow down"
"You don't want to have sex with me?" I asked.
"Of course I do, but you said no sex until we talked everything out"
I nodded and leaned back. I did say that, and I am currently hating myself for it.
"So let's talk" I said.
She smiled.
"Ok"
"So we're dating" I began
She nodded.
"Do your parents know?" I asked.
"My mom could care less, but I told my dad about you. He bought me my ticket and took me to the airport Saturday morning"
She smiled.
"He doesn't know about the non relation thing we had, he'd kill me if he ever found out"
"My parents would too" I admitted.
"But like George was saying, we were technically dating since we were exclusively just seeing each other"
I nodded.
"Does your dad know I'm a hockey player?" I asked.
Her dad was a lawyer, if anything he wanted his daughter to date a successful person.
"He does know, and he told me that as long as I was happy he'd support me 100%"
She smiled.
"He does want to meet you though"
I looked at her when she grabbed my hand.
"Him and Dina want to meet you"
"No pressure" I stated.
I leaned against her as she pulled me into a hug.
"What's your dad's name again?" I asked.
"Lorenzo"
I nodded and pulled away to look at her.
"What's your dad like?" I asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Is he strict? Do you come from a traditional family?" I asked.
She laughed.
"My dad is not strict and I come from a semi-traditional family. We are very big when it comes to Easter and Christmas"
I nodded.
"Anything else I should know?" I asked.
"He likes chocolate covered gummy bears and almonds"
I made a mental note to buy that for when I met him.
"He's got the biggest sweet tooth so you can give him any candy and he will love you. The Dodgers are the best team in the MLB regardless of who recently won the World Series"
I smiled and nodded.
"He was raised a Kings fan, but he will root for the Leafs when they play the Kings"
"That's nice of him" I said.
She nodded.
"He said this in front of Adrian, so it's so spite him"
I chuckled.
"Does he not like Adrian?" I asked.
"He does he just likes seeing him squirm. I made him promise he wouldn't act that way towards you. The less stressed you are is a less chance of you having a panic attack"
I nodded.
"George gave in a good word about you"
"That makes me feel less nervous" I admitted.
"You shouldn't feel nervous, my dad is going to love you"
I took a deep breath and nodded.
"I love you and he's going to love you"
I smiled.
"Say that again, just the first part" I told her.
"I love you"
"Again" I said.
She smiled and leaned forward.
"I love you so much"
I laughed and nodded.
"Again?" I asked.
She smiled and grabbed my face.
"I love you"
She gave me a deep kiss and pulled away. She kissed my cheek and pulled me down on her so we were laying down.
"I'm going to meet your soon to be step mom" I said.
"Dina"
I nodded.
"And your soon to be step sister?" I asked.
"Sophia"
I shifted so I could look at her.
"What about your mom?" I asked.
"If you want to meet her, you can meet her as well"
I nodded.
"My sisters are really excited to meet you" I told her.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, so is Alex" I added.
"My dad likes that you come from a big family"
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Yeah, he wanted a big family but things didn't go the way he planned"
"He can still have another kid" I said.
She smiled.
"Nah, he said George and I broke his heart when we went to college. It's the reason he's thankful he only had two"
"The good thing is you two didn't leave at the same time" I admitted.
"Yeah, and he was glad both George and I stayed close to home"
I nodded.
"George got injured during his junior year of high school, but he was real good at baseball and soccer"
"He mentioned that" I stated.
"You saw his scar?"
"Yeah" I answered.
"It used to be a lot bigger"
"He mentioned that" I admitted.
She hummed.
"How did he deal with that?" I asked.
If I got injured and hockey was over for me I don't know what I'd do.
"He focused on school"
"You failed to mention that you won a national title with UCLA's soccer team" I stated.
"Will during my time at UCLA I helped win the first and only National Title in Women's soccer"
I laughed.
"Smart ass" I told her.
She laughed and I took the time to straddle her.
"So we're dating" I said.
She nodded.
"And you're going to come spend New Years with my family" I added.
Again, she nodded.
"And I will meet your dad when I have the time" I stated.
"Yes"
"Our feelings are mutual and we are willing to do long distance" I said.
She smiled and nodded.
"Yes"
"Alright, so?" I answered as I grinned down at her.
"Just kiss me William"
I laughed as she pulled me down and pressed her mouth against mine. I closed my eyes and let myself enjoy the little time I had left with Mariana. Looks like the end of the year was turing out to be good after all.
