"And you must be... Granger," Lucius looked over at the child standing beside Draco, giving her a sneer.

"Draco has told me all about you..."

Draco's heart began to race as if he doubts his father would say anything that could offend Hermione. Or at least not that he could care about her.

"...and your parents"

Before their 2nd year had started, Draco was insisted to tell his father stories about Hogwarts and how the famous Harry Potter declined to befriend him. It became hard for Draco to get knowledge or information about the said boy, knowing that Harry and his friends despise Malfoys.

"It was hard to get information off of Potter, father--"

"Didn't he make friends in Hogwarts while you were there? Why don't you ask his friends instead?"

"Should I ask the weasley?"

"No, no. They know too much and that boy could get suspicious."

"Oh, okay.." Draco stopped to think. And then he had an idea.

"Hermione" he muttered. Just by saying her name made him feel butterflies in his stomach. As if fireworks were exploding inside of him.

The first time he saw her he gained interest. But it wasn't long until he knew that she was friends with a weasley. And his father despises the weasleys; Draco couldn't possibly disobey his father. In fact, he wanted to impress him. He promised he'd be next in line to his father.

"Hermione?" Lucius asked. "Pleasant name.." he continued.

"I know." Draco says, as he tried holding in his smile.

"What family did she come from?"

"Family?" Draco hadn't thought about it. In fact, the only thing he knows about Hermione is that she is a muggle born. But she could not possibly tell that to his father otherwise he might take him away from Hermione even more.

"Uhh..."

"Just the last name, Draco."

"G-granger."

"Granger? I haven't heard of a wizard with such name."

"That's because um.. she came from a different country... But they sure are pure-blooded wizards"

"Is that so? Well I might re consider meeting new people especially for you and your future--"

"Draco, you have guests.." Narcissa interrupts with a knock on the door.

Two boys entered the door, with loads of candies and treats on their hands.

"Crabbe! Goyle!"

"Hello, Mr. Malfoy you don't mind if we stay for a bit?" Goyle asked as he dumps candies in his mouth.

"No worries. I was just asking Draco here who Hermione Granger is--"

"Granger? The muggle born?!" Crabbe exclaimed.

Lucius looked over at Draco as he found his son wincing and gulping by his surprise. "Draco, you told me she was a pure blood? From a different country?"

"I don't think Draco would say such words, Mr. Malfoy. You see, Granger's parents are muggles but Hermione on the other hand is a witch--"

"Goyle!" Draco cocked his eyebrows at him.

"Draco, you must tell me the truth." Lucius gave Draco an upset look, rather dissapointed at his own son for lying about a muggle-born.

"The next time you see her, I don't want you coming anywhere close to that mudblood, do you understand?" Lucius whispered onto Draco's ear, patting his back.

Draco couldn't help but to agree and obey. So he nodded, and sighed.

I cannot come close to her. But father never said that I couldn't see her. He thought.

~

Draco awakens at the dream he just had about a flashback. It felt like horror to him, feeling the blood rush through his veins as he breathed heavily.

"No no no" he said to himself, holding grip of his hair, and sighs. "That was the past, no. It's done. I do not feel the same thing again." He shook his head as he looked up to the ceiling, letting himself fall back onto his bed.

"That was the past." He said.

"That was..." he closed his eyes, letting himself fall back to sleep but this time he couldn't.

Beams of light shimmering on the slightly opened curtains of his room, directly lighting Draco's pale and groggy face.

He had no choice but to stand up and start the day as if it were just like any other day he has: alone, in a dull and silent flat.

He thought about Hermione again. The first thing that popped into his mind when he first got out of his bedroom, the first thing that came in his mind when the water drips from his shoulders, down his back, the first face he remembers whilst he makes breakfast, though of course it was only beans on toast but still, he couldn't get enough of it. He wanted it to stop. To try and get rid of her.

He had sought for a bit of adventure once in his life and that thing is already done. He doesn't want to bother her anymore. And yet he could, and his heart is craving for more. More adventures. More thrills.

He hate to admit that he is slowly becoming interested with the muggle world itself. But that should be the feeling after he had pulled his family out of his life.

He seeks adventure. He wants more than he have ever seen before.

After having breakfast he walked out of his flat, making his way to the leaky cauldron where Hermione is currently staying.

"Draco!" Blaise called him from a distance as he walk over to him.

"Uh, there'll be try outs for quidditch tomorrow, don't you remember? You said we'll practice a day before."

"Oh, yeah quidditch." Draco nodded, licking his lips, pursing to a thin line.

"You forgot, didn't you?"

Draco remained silent, he didn't know what else to say.

"Damn it, Draco. you've been off and about for the past few days. What's happened to you?"

"Nothing. I told you, I went... soul searching"

"As if you have one" Zabini snickered.

"Come on, quidditch?"

"Fine, what else could I possibly do with my life" Draco shrugged, changing his plans.

~

Hermione started the rest of her day buying books at diagon alley for her last year at hogwarts, though she didn't call for Harry or Ginny to come with her.

As she exits the book shop, she was startled at the girl who was about to bump into her.

Lavender.

"Hermione" Lavender greeted, keeping a stale face.

"Lavender" Hermione replied, returning back at her, keeping her straight face.

"I see you're going back to hogwarts.." Lavender glanced over the books Hermione is carrying. Hermione didn't say a word, but instead carried along and went off the book shop. "I suppose you're going back to Ron now, wouldn't you?" Lavender teased, getting angrier by the minute.

Hermione couldn't help but to turn around, take a deep breath and said, "Ron is not mine for the taking"

"Exactly! But the thing is Ron doesn't love me like he used to" Lavender faked pouted at her, but still glaring at Hermione.

Hermione then realized that Lavender might have given Ron a love potion again. Blood starts to boil up inside of her as she bursted out, "you lunatic! You gave him a love potion, didn't you?!"

"He fell in love with me!"

"Because he's trapped under your spell!"

"Honestly, why should you care? The minute we both shared our kiss gave him a thought of having us back together. I suppose he hasn't loved you like that"

Hermione was silent. She tried her best not to fight back so she smiled and said, "I hope you two are well and happy then" and walked away like nothing had happened.

She could've hexed her or something, but she had to control her temper, otherwise paparazzis would come bursting in on her again.

Though she had to admit, she badly misses Ron. She sighed as she was on her way back to the leaky cauldron---

Until someone called her from behind.

"That's a lot of books you got there, Granger"

Hermione turns around, seeing Draco with his hair sweaty, wearing his old slytherin quidditch uniform.

She then chuckled, tilting her head to her side a little and smiled. "You look like you've been running round muddy piles cause you look terribly..."

"Handsome?" He smirked.

Hermione suddenly realized that she was in a public place, and to think that someone could jump in any minute now. Hermione, why are you talking to him? he's one of the death eaters, don't you remember? snap out of it! she thought to herself as she cling onto the books she is carrying.

"Can we talk somewhere else?" She whispered not too quietly enough to let Draco hear him frm about 5 feet. "Why?"

She exhaled, walking herself to the leaky cauldron where Draco followed her.

"Why the sudden fuss, Granger? scared of being an issue again?" Draco implied with a short snicker.

"I'm glad you're clever enough to figure that out." She says, as she places her books down the table.

"Oh please, I've aced my potions back at hogwarts, looking right through you wouldn't be as hard as that." He smirked, crossing his arms.

Hermione looked over at his eyes, those boastful eyes that has never left him since the beginning. Though Hermione thinks that some of him has changed, the old Draco remained the same.

"Why did you talk to me earlier?" Hermione asked seriously. "At diagon alley. You're a death eater and you're not allowed to be anywhere near a mudblood and--"

"Hold on, Granger.. I understand that you want to keep our conversations private but you don't need to be all sensitive about this"

"Sensitive? why should I be sensitive about this I'm trying to remind you that you're--"

"a death eater?"

"Of course you are, aren't you?"

"So you don't want to see me anymore?" he looked straight into her eyes, raised one eyebrow as he asked.

"I should ask you that question. Plus since you've been in the muggle world twice now I suppose you won't need help in getting there anymore." Hermione replied.

"Okay." Draco puts his hands in his pockets, purses his lips and nods. He looked down and turned away from Hermione, walking out of the leaky cauldron and back to diagon alley.

The cold silence echoed through the empty place. Hermione didn't think that it would affect Draco that much since he doesn't really care much about her. But still, she thinks that she had went a little too hard on Draco.

"My, was that Draco Malfoy?" The man asked Hermione, stepping down the stairs.

"I'm afraid so" Hermione pursed her lips, looking down in immediate regret.
