On the way home, Chi Cheng was rubbing the top of Wu Suowei's head so that his already messy hair began to look like a bird's nest. Wu Suowei turned his head to scold Chi Cheng, and he grasped those fidgety hands.
"You should get a haircut, "Chi Cheng said.
Wu Suowei nodded, "I've been busy for a while, but once I'm finished I'm going to go for a complete styling."
"And what exactly are you thinking about?" Chi Cheng casually asked.
Wu Suowei had given the idea a lot of thought and wanted a [1] low fade haircut dyed in maroon, and he also wanted to have that hand-combed texture. All in all, it was a cool idea, but the reality was very cruel. [2] My Chi Cheng already told what's in his mind, go get a haircut! No matter what haircut you return home with, I will give you a very smooth shave, so that you can flaunt your good look!
[T/N: [1] Refer to the picture below. [2] This line is interesting since there's one word that is meaningful in Chinese but very bland in English. Further explanation below.]
The night wind was pleasantly cool and autumn was approaching...Wu Suowei thought, finally the scorching summer heat will subside.
A year had passed in a flash.
A year ago Wu Suowei had persistently convinced Yue Yue to stay, and a year later he was engaged in an ambiguous relationship with her current boyfriend.
This world is really crazy!
Just as he was thinking, Chi Cheng's phone rang.
Who it is calling so late at night? It was certainly the [3] lonely [4] nymph Yue!
[T/N: [3] Actually 独守空房 means 'a married woman who stays at home alone'. The husband could be working or having an affair hence the sentence below as WSW was mocking her lol. [4] Further explanation below.]
Lonely, vulnerable, she begged Chi Cheng to go back to accompany her.
Wu Suowei didn't know whether it was because he was used to it, but he still had the urge to smash the phone when he heard Yue Yue whining on the other side although the tactics had been adjusted. Luckily, Chi Cheng quickly hung up the phone, and Wu Suowei barely able to curb his urge within the limited time.
This time, Wu Suowei spoke first and didn't wait for Chi Cheng to say anything.
"Go back quickly."
It was spoken rather insincerely, and with a little reluctance but he was far from being a hypocrite.
Chi Cheng's eyes darkened. He held the back of Wu Suowei's head, strongly pulled Wu Suowei towards him and his strong brows were against Wu Suowei's forehead. Wu Suowei's breath was dominated by tobacco smell.
"You will really let me leave?"
Wu Suowei felt like he wasn't himself, but an actor in a drama. Because he was too deep in the drama, he didn't need to feign his expression, and his words flew out effortlessly.
"Don't forget that your snakes were still being captivated by your dad."
Their gazes met, the hidden desires surged and they were overwhelmed with feelings. The feelings were indescribable.
Chi Cheng's hand trailed down toward Wu Suowei's hand. The skins scraped against one another, Wu Suowei could easily remove his hold as long as he moved his wrist but it looked like he would never let go of Chi Cheng's hold. Wu Suowei really wanted to have fun to his heart content, became willful like before the tactic changed, and made that woman hid under the blanket as she wept.
At the end, he still restrained himself.
Instead of making her cry once, might as well make her cry for a lifetime.
Wu Suowei pulled his hand away from Chi Cheng's hand, forced out a smile, pat Chi Cheng's shoulder and said: "Quickly go. I cannot take a bath and change my clothes if you don't go. I have a lot of work to do tomorrow. I have to go to bed early."
Chi Cheng suddenly pulled Wu Suowei's waist and hugged him firmly.
Wu Suowei ruthless jabbed Chi Cheng with his elbow and snarled, "You spend your free time with me but you don't have any time to spend with your father!"
After he said that, he pushed Chi Cheng away and walked sullenly toward the clinic. He dragged his feet and firmly clutched his fists. I'll keep on gnashing my teeth! Quickly go away. If you don't leave, I might not be able to let you go!
Chi Cheng had really left...
When Wu Suowei was taking a bath, he heard the bell at the entrance door rang, and his heart was pounding madly. Could it be that you come back? Don't come back! Otherwise, all my efforts are in vain!
Wu Suowei stood barefoot in the bathroom and nervously listened to the movement outside.
Chi Cheng glanced at the bathroom and he could saw the reflection of a stiff silhouette at the gap from the door. He could clearly saw his facial features and vividly outlined Wu Suowei's expression at that time. Anxiety, expectation, fear, uneasiness... Chi Cheng moved toward the door as if something was tugging at his heart.
At the end, the bathroom door was shut tightly and the situation that Wu Suowei feared didn't happen.
Chi Cheng had left and there was a box at the entrance.
Wu Suowei looked down and it was a box of [5] Chunghwa, the one that Wu Suowei had nonchalantly praise to be smooth and better to smoke.
[T/N: [5] A premium cigarette brand in China. Refer to picture below.]
He sat on the box, and he felt inexplicable pain in his heart.
[1] Low fade haircut — if you like kpop then you might have see this style.
[2] 人家 (lit. home people) is use to indicate family members and it indicates many relationship terms in Chinese. Jidan wrote 人家池骋 (Rénjiā Chí Chěng) which in English it's as plain as 'he' but in Chinese it's literally means 'home people Chi Cheng' which if nicely put it indicates Chi Cheng as the family member of Wu Suowei. It can be paraphrase as 'My Chi Cheng' spoken in playful manner.
[4] I'm not sure about other culture, but we usually use someone's name (usually family name) if we want to mock that person or just want to be playful.
[5] Chunghwa — It is a high-end brand that symbolized a wealthy status and very expensive as the cheapest is usually around ¥700 per carton (100 usd) and CC gave WSW a box... usually there are 10 packs in one carton hence it's ¥70 per pack. That's why in the previous chapter WSW said the taste is different than ¥7 per pack. It is said to be flavorful and very smooth.
Anne's Rant:
I might change the title from time to time. Don't be alarmed and don't ask for an update for UL. I have translated 10 pages and I still have 6 pages more (▰˘︹˘▰)
Please note that some part might be incorrect as we don't know how to translate the slangs and idioms to English and translators might rely on the pinyin. Mistakes are bound to happen and corrections are very welcome.
