Chapter 13

A smile tugged at my lips seeing Jesse and Jeremy bond like brothers. I'm not sure whether it is over the video games they were currently playing, or if they were secretly sharing drugs. They both have history with drugs, but I know that Jesse wouldn't give drugs to someone as young as Jeremy. He even refuses to share them with me, and I'm older than him. Usually I would just tackle him for them, but I couldn't risk getting high and vulnerable; especially with danger lurking around.

Currently I'm lounging in Elena's home. She shot me a glare when she came in and saw me on her couch, with my feet kicked up on the coffee table and a magazine in my hands. I returned her glare with a sickeningly sweet smile, and returned to my magazine, enjoying the sight of the shirtless guys. Elena was definitely taken back, probably because I don't smile much. I didn't acknowledge her, but after a few minutes when she was still standing in the same spot, by the front door, I was forced to turn around and raise my eyebrows at her. She was playing with her fingers, avoiding eye contact and uncomfortably leaning on one foot, all signs of nervousness.

"What is it?" I asked her, knowing it had something to do with myself or my knowledge of certain things. Why else would she be here?

"I- I just wanted to ask you a question?" She said, briefly meeting my eyes, then looking away.

"About what?" I asked annoyed. The clock was ticking, and she was wasting some good Channing Tatum shirtless time.

"When you said that as soon as you get the moonstone, you were going to be gone, what exactly did you mean?" She asked fidgeting around nervously.

I rolled my eyes at her question and stupidity. Her mere sight seemed to piss me off, and I knew a lot of it had to do with the fact that she was a doppelgänger. "I meant that as soon as we make sure Klaus has no way of breaking the curse, I'll be gone." I said, and paused, thinking the question over. "Even if that means taking the moonstone with me."

"Would you give us out to Klaus? Would you take the moonstone and give it to Klaus for your own personal gain?"

"Let's get this straight for once and for all. I do not like Klaus. I will not give him anything that would satisfy him, because all his satisfactions are based upon seeing other people fail, or gaining more power for himself.

"Klaus and I have a feud, because Klaus wants to take away something from me, that rightfully belongs to myself. Klaus does not control me. I will not let him think he won, because he doesn't deserve it. You don't have to worry about me bailing, because I am not going to leave something half done. I will not leave till you are safe from Klaus. That's a promise."

I get up from the couch, no longer in the mood to stay, and continue staring at Hollywood's hottest men. I toss the magazine on the counter, and grab my keys, and phone from the coffee table. "Jesse I'll meet you at home."

"Yeah man, see yeh." He grunted then murmured the response, completely engrossed in the game.

I rolled my eyes, and made my way to the front door. Just as I was stepping out of the house, Elena's voice stopped me.

"Jenna's hosting this barbecue, with some of her friends, and asked me to give you an invite."

"Jenna? Your Aaunt?" I asked, peering over my shoulder to give Elena a brief look. "I don't even know them, why would I come?"

"Damon and Mason are going to be there too."

"I'll think about it." I muttered, slamming the door behind me, as I exited the house.

I pulled open the door to my Cadillac and got in. I started the car, and pulled out the driveway. Soon I was speeding down the streets, not caring for the red lights or stop signs.

What Elena had said struck a nerve. Her words reminded me of how I was not to be trusted. Not because I'd betray them, but because I don't say anything. I don't talk about my life, and quite frankly I don't want to. What am I supposed to say anyways? I'm a freak with no family who likes me. I've lived alone for the longest time. The only thing that's even remotely fine about me was probably my ability to listen to the tasteless music that played on the radio these days. If I ever told anyone about my life, they'd immediately assumed I was like them. They'd hate me. They'd think I was evil or bad or whatever. If anyone found out who I really was, they'd all be out for my blood. They'd hate me, because Whether I like it or not, I was a part of those five, at a time we were six. I don't want it, but you don't choose family. You can only run away in hopes of scratching them off your back.

Life was an odd thing. I always believed that someone up there must hate me for my life to have been so unfortunate. I should count my blessing, at least I was still alive- well as alive as a vampire such as myself can ever be. If faith controlled my life or what happens down here, it had an odd sense of humour. I was running away from my borthers, desperate not to kill them, but now after all these years I'm willing to blow my cover to prevent Klaus from breaking the curse. Now we are running towards each other, looking for a fight, not willing to back down.

If Elena asked me that question, it only meant one thing; they were doubting me. They were planning something, without me. Something was going on and I intend on finding out.

I pressed down on the breaks, and sat still watching the car come to a screeching halt. I stepped out of the car, and looked at the old, abandoned house that lay before me. The house was protected by dead witches. Vampires couldn't enter, they'd be burned.

I took one last look at the broken windows, and the dungy house. Everything about it screamed eerie and haunted.

I stepped towards the building, and pushed open the door that opened with a creek. I attempted to take a step only to bump into a wall.

"I need your help, let me in."

Knowing they couldn't reject one of their own, they gave me full access.

I smoothed the wrinkles on my black dress. It was tight and sleeveless from the top, but the bottom was like a flared skirt. A red belt, was tied right below my bust. Pumps in a similar colour donned my feet, and a black leather jacket was thrown on top completing the look. I pushed my blonde hair out of my face, and adjusted the small heart necklace around my neck.

Feeling complete, I brought my hand out to push open the door, but thought to be more respectful. After all first impressions were everything, and if I intended to win over Jenna's trust, I had to lock away my anger and put a smile on my face.

I folded my hands into a fist and knocked on the door. The door opened and Elena's smiling face greeted me.

"You came!" She said with a kind smile, which really made me rethink the hate I possessed for doppelgängers.

"I did." I said stepping into the house, as I was already invited in before.

Caroline was standing not too far away, her hands in a bowl of chips.

"Hey!" She greeted with a mouthful of chips.

"Getting the munchies Caroline?" I asked amused knowing she was a relatively new vampire.

"It sucks! I just wanna eat everything!" Caroline said agitated.

"It will pass," I said patting her shoulders sympathetically. "At least you're not eating all the humans like I did when I first turned."

Before Caroline could respond, I felt cold hands on my shoulders. The hands gripped my jacket from either side, and pulled it down my arms till I was not wearing it anymore. As my jacket was removed, I turned around to the person who had shows this kind gesture only to find Damon.

An annoying smirk was on his face, as he looked down at me, my jacket in his hands.

"What, no thanks?" Damon asked, his smirk only growing.

I narrowed my eyes at his cocky form. All I wanted to do was behead him right now.

"I'm not thanking you." I muttered angrily.

A deep fiery form of anger was growing within me. He had something to do with Elena's question earlier; they all did. I could not trust them just as much as they could not trust me.

"Whatever you're planning to do Damon, don't." I told him, staring right into his smouldering blue eyes. "You won't get away with it, and this time, I won't hesitate to behead you. Zero tolerance."

I pursed my lips and Damon full out grinned. He bent down to my level, and looked into my eyes accepting my challenge with open arms. "I don't know what your talking about." Any passer by would think he was being nonchalant, but I knew better. His voice held pride, he was proud because for once I didn't know. I always knew everything. His voice also held a hint of teasing, he wanted to see me blow. His very presence agitated me.

His head came lower, till I could feel his breathing on my neck. His hot breath caressed my neck, and much to my dismay, I froze. My eyes widened in alarm, but I was as stiff as a stick. I knew I should do something, as he blew hot air onto my neck. Soon I felt his hot breath right by my ear. What felt like minutes was only seconds later, when his husky voice reached my ears.

"You look beautiful Alexis." My name rolled off his tongue so perfectly, it made me wonder if it sounded the same coming from someone else's mouth.

As his head began to pull away from me, the movement brought me back to reality. I was granted power to my body, as anger immediately swarmed me. Agitated, he made me feel agitated, not flustered as I felt when he came so close. Agitated. Agitated. I repeated in my head. I ignored the goosebumps that were on my skin. Thinking back to what had happened only seconds ago, made my body imagine the hot air he blew onto my neck. Agitated. That's all he made me feel, I said in my head trying to convince myself.

Anger began to rise, as the feeling of not having control set in. He made me lose control. He had control of me. Even if it had been for only a minute or so, I had still lost control. I never lose control. I am always powerful. I always have the upper hand. even when I was kidnapped and tortured by Damon, I had a way of escaping. I always did. But for those mere seconds, I had nothing. My mind was blank, and my body was still. I scolded myself profusely for letting that happen, and before Damon could get far, I brought my foot up, and back down with all the force I could muster. I turned around to walk away, and grinned at the satisfying crack I had heard. Damon then swore out loud, which only added to the slight victorious feeling that was growing inside me.

After greeting Elena's kind aunt, Jenna, and her boyfriend Alaric whom I already knew, I helped Elena in the kitchen.

"So Elena, tell me is this silver?" Damon asked waving around a large silver knife. Lucky for Damon, my anger had passed, and I was use to dealing with him by now.

"Yes and it was my Mom's favourite set, so put it back." Elena sternly told him, putting the cut cucumbers in the salad bowl.

"No, we need to see if he is a werewolf like Tyler is." Damon said, putting the knife on the tray.

"Well there's two ways to find out," I drawled, as I dropped the cut tomatoes in the bowl. "One you can try and anger him, drop hints and stuff, or two you can observe."

"Observe?" Elena asked confused.

"Yeah. Werewolves tend to be short tempered, eat like dogs, horrible art skills. Some are even slightly dumb. I don't mean to be offensive or stereotypical, but werewolves tend to strive in the athletic department, and don't do well with academics, arts and such." I informed them.

Before any of them could comment, Jenna's voice cut in. "Mason's here!"
