Afina was sitting on Raphaels bed with him sitting next to her as they both sat in silence not really knowing what to say
"Does your family know?" He asked turning toward her
"No" she said looking at her hands before he took her hands in his kneeling in front of her.
"They don't need to know the blood will go away and you will still be safe" Raphael said and Afina nodded slightly "come on, you need to sleep"
Raphael stood up pulling Afina up with him before pulling the blankets back for Afina to get in.
Afina got into his bed and fell asleep right away and Raphael sat in a chair by the bed as he watched over her not letting anything happen to her when she started moving around slightly talking under her breath.
Raphael stood up and walked over to the bed sitting down next to Afina when she shot up from the bed breathing hard
"Hey you're ok, what happened?" Raphael asked cupping her face in his hands
"It was a nightmare" she said shaking her head moving her hair away from her face "sorry" she mumbled before laying back down
Raphael was about to go sit in a chair again when she grabbed his hand "I know you don't like sleep or whatever at night but could you just lay with me?" She asked and Raphael smiled and nodded before he climbed in beside her holding her close to him
Afina smiled before she fell asleep again this time feeling more safe with Raphaels arms around her

Afina woke up later that night to see that Raphael wasn't there anymore and she only assumed that he was training Simon
She stood up from the bed and sat there for a minute debating if she wanted to go back to the institute and talk to her siblings
After awhile she decided to go back to the institute. She quietly walked out the door knowing if Raphael caught her he wouldn't let her leave his side
She made her way outside pulling her jacket closer to her as she started back to the institute
Half way there she started to feel like she was being followed she turned around quickly to see nothing there then turned back forward when she was stopped by a few men with circle runes on there neck
Afina took a step back "what do you want?" She asked
"We want a distraction" one man said taking a step forward
"What?" She asked
"Everyone is so distracted with the mortal cup and trying to find Clary Fairchild that if we do something it will leave them defenseless" the other man explained
"What are you going to do, kill me?" She taunted and they both smirked before looking at each other and lunging at her
Afina didn't have her bow sense she left it at the hotel so she was left with no weapons and had to fight them off which was proving very difficult.
When she was trying to fight off one man the other would attack she couldn't fight off two men by herself.
When she was fighting one of the men the other came up to her with a seraph in hand and when she wasn't looking he stabbed her
She stubbled away from the man she was fighting looking down at her shirt that was now covered in blood
The man that stabbed her ripped his seraph blade from her body before the two men left
Afina leaned against a wall struggling to breath before she gave up and just let death consume her.

Raphael had went to his room after telling Simon to take a walk and when he got to his room he found that Afina wasn't there and ran out into the main room calling his people
Raphael had almost every single vampire out looking for Afina when one of his men found a body in an abandoned street
The vampire picked up Afina and carried her back to the hotel walking into the main room where Raphael was waiting
The man handed Afina's body to Raphael who looked at her pale face, tears stinging his eyes as he walked back to his room setting Afina on the bed as he sat in the chair with his head in his hands
Raphael got up from the seat a grabbed his phone "Simon, you need to get back here"
"What why?" He asked
"Just trust me please" Raphael said and Simon sighed before hanging up showing up at the hotel minutes later
Simon walked into Raphaels room "what's u- Afina?!" Simon shouted making his way over to Afina
"Raphael please tell me she's not dead" Simon begged but when he didn't answer Simon looked back at Afina "oh god"
"That's not it, Camilles blood was still in her system when she died" Raphael said making Simon shoot up
"What?!" He shouted at Raphael "what do we do now?"
"We either stake her or bury her and turn her into a vampire" Raphael explained
"I'm calling Izzy" he said and Raphael gave him a look "she deserves to know"
Simon took his phone out calling Izzy when Alec answered "Alec? Where's Izzy?"
"She can't come to the phone right now what do you want?" Alec asked
"It's Afina" he said
"What about Afina is she ok?" Alec asked more worried
"Not really, she was killed and she had vampire blood in her system" Simon explained
"What?" Alec said slightly whispering
"We have a choice to either stake her or turn her" Simon said
"I'm not going to turn her into a monster" Alec stated
"You don't have a choice" Raphael spoke up making Simon turn to him
"What do you mean?" He asked
"She made me promise if she died to bring her back as a vampire" Raphael stated picking Afina up "and I'm not breaking that promise"
"I'll call you back Alec" Simon said hanging up his phone "you can't do that"
"I can and I will with or without you" Raphael said walking out of the room
Simon groaned knowing he would bring her back either way and ran after Raphael "what do you need?"
"Get blood bags and a shovel" Raphael said and Simon got what was needed and they walked to the graveyard they were just at nights before
Raphael started digging the hole and Simon put Afina in the hole as they both started covering her with dirt
When they were done the pair sat at the grave waiting for Afina to come up
"She's going to be miserable" Simon mentioned
"I'll train her she'll be fine" Raphael said not looking away from the grave
"Like your supposed to be training me? Ya you're great help" Simon said sarcastically
"It's different with her I don't-" Simon cut Raphael off
"You don't hate her? Ya I know" Simon said
"I don't hate you Simon but you can be annoying. I love Afina that's the difference" Raphael said and Simon glanced at him looking to see if he was lying but he wasn't
The pair waited for a little while longer until Afina came up from the ground looking around frantically not knowing what was happening
Raphael grabbed a few blood bags before kneeling in front of her and handing them to her as she drank them quickly
"What's happening?" She asked looking at Raphael "did I die?"
Raphael nodded slightly before Afina started crying and he pulled her into a hug comforting her
"I'm not a shadowhunter anymore" she cried into his shoulder
