That night you and your mother went to sleep. Roland was already asleep, he didn't know. You and your mother cried yourselves to sleep. The next day your mother woke up early to pick up breakfast. You woke up to find your pancakes waiting for you. Roland came out a few minutes later.
"Is Daddy back?" He asked innocently. All you could do was pull him in close to you.
"No." You whispered.
"When will he be back?" He asked.
"He won't." You say. Roland pushed away from you.
"What?" He asked as his eyes became full with tears.
"Something happened." You said getting up from your chair. Roland backed away.
"No!" Roland yelled as he ran off. Your mother came out from the back room.
"What's going on?" She asked stopping Roland for going any further.
"Daddy?" He asked with a wet face. Regina walked him over yo the couch.
"He died. He laid down his life for us." She said. Roland cried. She only hugged him.
"I miss him." You said.
"Me too." Regina said.
