I woke up in Adam's house - in a spare room on the ground floor. The sun's beam was gentle and it warmth my skin. I lifted my head and took a quick look around the room. I had a dream. It was a mixture of pleasantness and unpleasantness. I felt happy dreaming about it but there was a mixture of confusion, fear and anger.

I dreamt about my little brother. I was happy to see him but I couldn't reach him. However, he told me to not worry, do what's right and go for it - don't ever look back. I laid my head back down on the soft pillow. I rubbed my face with my hands as I heaved a deep sigh. What have I got myself into?

I decided not to stay in. The Perrys' seemed to be busy in the kitchen. I could hear their soft chatters and plates clanking. I shuffled towards the door and slowly swung it opened. I had my lips pressed together. I didn't want to disturb them. Instead, I wanted to watch them. I was curious how a family breakfast goes.

I stood behind the arc that led to the kitchen. I peeked. Adam was seated around the table along with his parents. His parents had smiles on their faces and Adam had one too - but not as wide. His mum handed him a plate of toast. Adam grabbed one from the plate and smeared it with butter. I managed to catch his parents' loving gazes towards each other. It was a sight I used to see a decade ago when my parents were still together.

Adam spotted me. He flashed a gentle welcoming smile. He pulled the chair next to him. His parents followed his gaze. I came out from hiding.

"Come join us, Dylan. I bet you're hungry," Adam's mum said cheerfully.

She prepared a plate, a glass of apple juice and a piece of toast for me on the table. I sat down on the seat next to Adam. I stared at the breakfast in front of me.

I will miss this - the warmth, the love and the protection.

I picked up the toast from the plate and carefully smeared some butter on it. I took a small bite and looked up. I found Mr and Mrs Perry glanced at me, then they turned to Adam. We continued breakfast as if it was normal for them to have an American orphan joining the table. If only his parents knew I was a killer - not just his friend.

Although it was hard for me to swallow, I kept on eating. I was choking my tears back but I was happy. Really. I had the feeling this was the last meal - lovely and calm - I will ever have. Once Adam report me, I would be in prison and I will have meals with a bunch of other guys who are just as bad as I was. Maybe I was half as bad as they are.

Once breakfast was done, I helped Mrs Perry clear the table. As she washed the dirty dishes, I helped her wipe them dry. It reminded me of home. When dad left with Sophie, I spent most of my time with my mom. I helped her with tonnes of chores and bring up as much random topics as possible to cheer her up. She liked to talk (and gossip, of course). I was her best friend. However, she got married again. But the chores never stopped.

"What are you thinking about, Dylan?" Mrs Perry asked - bringing me out of my memory lane.

I turned to her.

"Oh, I was thinking about someone...,"

"OOH! Do tell," she cheered as if she was digging for a juicy gossip.

I cracked a smile.

"My mom," I said. "We used to do chores together," I added and put down a plate on the counter - stacking it onto the five storey tower of plates.

"Aww...I wish I can have that with Adam," she joked. "Anyway, how is she?"

"She's alright, I guess. I don't really know," I answered as I rubbed the back of my head.

"What do you mean?" she asked and took her eyes off of the plate in her hands.

"She...died a few years ago,"

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry. I didn't know...," she gasped and lowered the bubble covered plate and sponge.

"It's alright, Mrs Perry," I beamed.

"Let me tell you something, Dylan," she said and turned off the tap. "Keep this between you and me, yeah?"

"Um...sure," I chuckled.

"Distance can never break true love - especially between a mother and a son," she whispered. "And a mother can never stop thinking about her child. So, if you miss your mum, she's always with you. She never left your heart. Just listen to your heart beating and you can hear her,"

A soft smile spread across my face. Mrs Perry washed the last plate and handed it to me. She patted my shoulder and walked out of the kitchen. I put the dried plate on the tower. Then, I put my hand on my chest. I closed my eyes and listened to my heart beating. I felt the rhythm against my palm.

"Dylan...,"

"Mom?"

I felt calm and the guilt seemed to fade away slowly as if my mom forgive me after what I had done. It was what I needed. I needed to know that I didn't hurt my mum or my family; including my little brother.

I walked out of the Perry's house that afternoon. I walked to the train station to get to London. I held onto my back pack shoulder strap. I was nervous but I had hours left until I get to see her. Once I arrived at London, I went straight to the airport. I managed to get a ticket to get to Switzerland. I didn't inform Ginger nor Adam about my travel. I didn't want anyone to stop me from seeing Heather again.

I boarded the plane and once we were off the ground, I felt relieved. For the few hours in the flight, I was far away from all my problems and I was on a journey to see Heather again. Once I arrived in Switzerland, I went to look for a taxi. I told the driver the place where Heather was staying straight away.

Within an hour or so, I reached my final destination.

I paid the taxi fee which was rather expensive but I didn't mind. I walked towards the door of the apartment building. I rang the bell to Heather's place. She answered 'hello?'. I didn't respond. She said it again.

"Open the door...," I said to the intercom. "Please...,"

The door clicked and unlocked. I entered the building, climbed up the stairs and once I was standing in front of the wooden door, I froze. I didn't know what I would do. I didn't know what to say to her. She opened the door. Her hair was shorter now and she had dyed them red. Her eyes were still brown and she put on a faded pink lipstick on. I've never seen her using make-up. I guess she really changed.

"What are you doing here?" she asked in a small voice.

I stepped inside and grabbed her face. I pressed my lips against her and didn't hesitate to kiss her passionately. I shut the door behind us and I led her deeper into her small apartment. I kept my hands on the side of her face. She didn't resist. She kissed me back. She put her arms around my neck and pulled me in for a deeper kiss.

She unbuttoned my coat and took them off. I kissed her harder and pinned her body against the wall. She lightly tugged my hair on the back of my head and her hands slowly snaked under my shirt. I felt her hands brushing against my skin. She touched every inch of my upper body. Then, she lightly clawed my back. I found my hands on her waist. I was begging for her when I shouldn't be.

"Take me," she whispered between our kisses.

I bit her bottom lip and a moan escaped from her. I kissed her once more.

"Go to hell, Heather," I whispered back.

She stared at me - puzzled and horrified.

"I killed Sara for you," I added. "And I can do the same...," I paused and stared at her. "...to you," I smirked.

She gasped and tried to push me away. I held her arms and began to nibble her neck.

"Don't worry, baby...," I said devillishly. "I won't hurt you. I would never hurt you,"

She let out a moan again. I smirked and tore her blouse to reveal her shoulder.

"Dylan...," she moaned.

"Shh...be quite, baby," I whispered against her ear. "You have hurt so many people," I began as I watched her took her top off.

She kissed my neck. She was desperate.

"You hurt so many people and put me in deep trouble,"

She didn't listen and ripped my shirt off of me. She ran her hands over my chest and down to my abdomen.

"I am a murderer because of you,"

"Shut up, Dylan," she sighed and took my belt off. "I missed you...," she whispered.

"I have something to tell you," I said.

"What is it?" she replied - breathless.

We were under a blanket on the sofa. Her bare body was pressed against mine. She turned around so she could face me. I felt nothing.

"I'm going back to UK after this. I'm not staying,"

"Oh, why not?" she pouted.

"Because if I do, I'll probably kill you in your sleep...,"

"What are you on about, Dylan?" she giggled and buried her face in my bare chest.

I put my arms around her and got on top of her. She giggled once again with a blush.

"Like I said before: I killed Sara and I can do the same to you," I smiled.
