der tod is a big project im working on with a few of my close pals
the main story is that uh
der tod is an annual competition
its kinda like uh
underground dog fights or something
its definitely frowned upon but not a lot of people see it going on
but every year five people are gathered
its usually just someone random chosen shortly after birth in a similar location
which means theyve been watched for a while without really knowing
theres a few ground rules
-----------------------------------------------------
-the age range is 18 - 45
-no disabled people are chosen , and if they become disabled by the time der tod rolls around, theyre considered a dud and the computer chooses a new one at random
-if you win der tod somehow, youre given the choice to become the next gamemaster. either that or youre given the option to commit suicide as an easy escape
-no pregnant people , theyre also duds

a gamemaster is sort of the orchestrator of each der tod
theyre given a location and a substitute in case they cant make it or its too dangerous to make contact with the contestants
they usually wear a mask to preserve their identity. the contestants are almost always dangerous people
they usually dont choose the mask themselves
its given to them to mirror their personality// looks
for example, sub(the substitute in our game) has the okame mask, the goddess of mirth and joy
while our gamemaster sports the waka onna , the maiden or a young girl
(the pic is kinda shitty but you get what i mean)
in the artwork ill be drawing these masks a bit differently
kinda like a modified version
but yes these are the ones theyre based off of
though i wont be showing gamemasters official design in the game
id rather people make their own interpretations
its a lot more fun as a mystery
but our der tod includes the 5 contestants i showed you in one of the previous chapter

pentelle
and for four battles
there are four chapters(not including the intro//prologue)

the meanings of the flowers have a lot to do with the theme of the chapter
the setting for this der tod is a suburban house
in the middle of nowhere
there isnt much gameplay, which is why i consider the genre to be "visual novel"
there are a few big choices you can make
by that i mean
you choose who lives in each battle
im also thinking about having a "regret" option
the possibility of a character coming back ??? im not sure how
maybe not
right now we're still working on the script
so dont expect the game to be done anytime soon

fighting styles i guess???
aether- close combat boxing, sometimes throws daggers(she only has two)
andras- takes advantage of the setting(ex; chandelier, power from the building) , weak, usually dodges more than attacks
chienne- weak, relies on weapons, sometimes resorts to old fashioned brawling
cloak guy- relies on brute strength, lunges a lot, janky movements, doesnt think before attacking
pentelle- uses weapons, weak, really good at dodging, graceful movements

aether enjoys taking out her anger violently. the more you let her win, the more she wants to fight- she starts being able to reason less and less and just blindly attacks
andras is prone to hallucinations and paranoia. the more you let him win, the worse it becomes- he also becomes more apathetic?? like,, he doesnt care much anymore and doesnt hold any compassion or remorse for his actions
chienne is by default a very manipulative person. the more you let him win, the more aware he becomes of others' weaknesses- he starts to feel a bit less and tries to intimidate everyone else with personality. and when you put up a facade like that so often its easy to break it. hes not very stable
cloak guy is one of the few that regret his actions. he's a bit of a hypocrite, despising der tod but still participating nonetheless. the more you let him win, the more distant and sorrowful he becomes- once he's alone, whats left?
pentelle normally doesnt strike anyone as the killing type. she tries to live up to what other people think she is, but it just isnt working. the more you let her win, the more she embraces her rocky past- shes quite fond of guns, isnt she ?
