"Why the hell are we having a meeting on a Monday?!" I yelled as the twins and I walked through the

woods to the pack circle.

"You know, you really shouldn't complain since you're going to be the one calling the pack meetings

soon." I rolled my eyes at Genevieve and I climbed over a fallen oak tree.

"V has a point."

"Shut up, Ivey." Ivey whimpered and I rolled my eyes again. Rick looked over when the three of us

walked through the trees. He glared and bared his canines; we were late. "Why are we here?" I asked before we sat down in our usual spots.

"The-"

"We…" Elder Bates stood from his seat and the four other elders, Elder Manson, Elder Jonas, Elder

Zee, and Elder Stone, stood with him. "Called the meeting."

I stood and bowed in respect. "Elder Bates." He bowed his head and I seated myself again. "So what is

this meeting for?"

"We wanted to see how well your leadership skills are." Elder Manson spoke, and yes, she's a female.

"My leadership skills?"

"We want to make sure you have the right skills before you become alpha." Elder Jonas answer my

question.

"Why do we need to have a pack meeting for that?"

"We thought it'd be more interesting." I glared at Elder Zee a little and he smiled to me.

"So what do I have to do?" I looked to Elder Bates again and he watched me as he thought.

"You will not be preforming the tasks tonight, Princess." Elder Stone informed me. "You will be

preforming these tasks on a different day. Sometime soon in the future."

"At a future pack meeting." Elder Bates informed me. I nodded and he turned his attention to the

whole pack. "That is all for this meeting, you may return to your homes." The pack dispersed while mother and I remained seated.

The twins turned around and waited for me. "You coming?" Genevieve asked and Ivey just waited.

"I'll meet you guys later." They nodded hesitantly before they walked off into the woods. Mother and I

waited until they were a good distance away from the circle before we stood and walked over to the elders. Elder Bates smiled at me and held his arms up for a hug. "Grandpa." I smiled and hugged him. Yes, Elder Bates is my grandfather. He's my father's dad and I kept my father's last name in honor of him and because of how much I love my grandpa.

"How is my granddaughter?" He smiled at me as we both pulled out from the hug.

"A little worried now because of this test you have for me."

"Oh, don't think of it as a test! Think of it as a game!" I smiled at my grandpa.

"Okay, I'm still worried about it though." Grandpa smiled before he turned to my mother.

"She's turning out to be a beautiful girl." I bowed my head because I didn't like it when they talked

about me when I'm right here.

"Yes she is." Mother said proudly, but I wanted to turn away and run after the twins. "I'm very proud

of her. She's going to make a great alpha." I gritted my teeth.

"Yes she will." Grandpa put a hand on my shoulder and smiled again when I looked up. "I'll let you

run off with your friends now." He kissed my forehead and smiled at me again. "Stay safe, Melanie."

I smiled and nodded. "I will." He rubbed my shoulder and let me go. I turned around and tried not to

run too quickly. I didn't want him to think that I didn't like spending time with him.

"Hey!" The twins whirled around and I jumped to a stop and panted.

"So what did the granddad want?" Genevieve asked and she started walking again. Ivey put a hand on

my shoulder and started walking towards her sister.

"Just wanted to tell me to stay safe basically." I ran a hand through my hair and sighed. "She played

the proud mother card again."

"She always does around him."

"I know, Ivey." We continued to walked through the woods in silence for a while until we heard

something.

"What was-"

"I don't know." Ivey nodded and we automatically made a triangle with our backs together for

protection.

"I don't hear anything."

"If it's a vamp trying to start trouble then we're not going to hear anything V." I closed my eyes and

listened harder. They were in the trees, just watching. They're watching us.

Why? Ivey asked, a little frightened.

Will you grow a pair, Ivey? Geez. I rolled my eyes at Genevieve and looked through all of the

branches, but couldn't see anything.

"Get out of the trees!!" I growled and I could practically feel Genevieve's fur pricking out from her

skin. I quickly looked over at Ivey to see that her wolf ears were out and folded back from fear. I growled again and lowered myself down onto my hands, I changed during this action and Ivey and Genevieve followed my lead.

"Geez, calm down Mel." Trey walked out from the trees and I growled again. "I was just messin' with

ya." Genevieve growled and snapped at him and Ivey just bared her teeth. "Alright fine, I'm leavin'." Trey turned around and started walking away. Genevieve snarled and jumped forward a few paces. Trey turned around and raised an eyebrow. "What's you're problem wolf?"

What the hell are you even doing here vamp? Genevieve thought aloud so he could hear.

"I just wanted to mess with Mel, but you guys are all up tight with her." Trey waved us off and jogged

away. Genevieve snarled before she turned back to me.

Stupid ass vamp. Ivey sneeze in agreement and the twins started heading towards their house again. I

stayed in my place for a few seconds before I slowly turned and followed the twins home.

"I'm glad you don't hang out with that vamp anymore." Genevieve stated as she plopped onto the

couch next to me in their home theater.

"You were telling me to ask him to hang out with-"

"Yeah, well that was before he tried to attack us."

"He didn't try to attack us." Ivey said as she walked in with a bowl of popcorn and the remote.

"Why the hell are you defending him?!"

"Will you drop it!" Genevieve obeyed, but I could see she wasn't happy about it. "Can we try to figure

out what kind of test I'm gonna have to face?"

"Knowing your Grandpa, we won't be able to figure it out." Ivey sat next to me and leaned on me. "If

Rick had any say in it, it'd probably involve something that could get you killed."

"I wouldn't be surprised if he tampered with it." Genevieve added in as she stole some popcorn out of

the bowl that was now in my lap.

"What are we watching?"

"Way to change the topic." V grumbled as she popped a piece of popcorn into her mouth.

"I don't want to sit here and stew about it V." I looked over at her and she just stared at the blank

movie screen. "What are we watchin' Ives?" I looked over at Ivey and she smiled as she pushed the play button.

Mean Girls flashed on the screen before the menu came up.

"Really?" Genevieve and I asked at the same time.

"It's funny to watch!!" I shook my head and sighed.

The thing is though, I didn't find it funny at all this time, I was too worried about the test and the fact

that the elder vampires will be coming to a pack meeting in two weeks. It's a lot to worry about, and I can't sit still anymore. "I'm gonna go for a run."

"You okay?" Ivey frowned and sat up, ready to come with me.

"Yeah… I just need some air." She nodded and Genevieve scooted closer to her and they leaned on

each other. I stopped by my room and grabbed my running bag before I walked out the back doors of the house. I breathed in the fresh night air and smiled to myself. I haven't been running in a long time.
