Tutoring Lessons

Noctis groans, listening Ignis report to him that his father has signed him up for tutoring lessons. His school recently sent out report cards directly to the parents of the students. Let's just say that his math grade wasn't the greatest subject he scored on. Though the only reason why he could never pay attention during math class because his eyes were always more attracted to a certain person in his math class. By the results of the important math test he took last year, his grade was high enough to advance into Algebra.

He was glad to be accepted into the advanced class, but there was a problem. He could never focus on his work during class ever since the teacher sat him next to you. His eyes would constantly take quick glances at you, his eyes attaching back onto the sheet in front of him when he thought that he spotted your eyes shifting towards his direction. He would always lose his cool attitude when ever he was in your presence. Especially when you talked to him.

Too bad for Noctis because, someone else also had eyes for you. The bright ball of sunshine of the school, Prompto. He always walked passed you during periods to change out your books. He watched you intently, feeling a pain strike his heart every time he saw someone threaten you when you disagreed to complete someone else's homework. He seriously just wanted to punch that person in the face for trying to hurt you. Yet, he couldn't. He may be really friendly, but he admits that he's not the most courageous person in the world. He didn't even have the courage to actually talk with you. His hands would get clammy and would stutter so much that he would seem like the shyest person on the planet.

It's like fate was playing a trick on the three of you, but you were assigned by the teacher to tutor the both of them in math. And let's just say you had the slightest, itty-bitty crush on the both of them. You would internally fan girl, when you saw either Noctis or Prompto sneaking glances at you. And you'd teach them after school, alone, in a room, without a teacher. Yup, you wouldn't embarrass yourself at all.

You pushed your glasses back up to the bridge of your nose with a finger, setting the textbooks on top of the three desks. You flinch, hearing a knock at the door. You walk over to the door and open it, your eyes meeting the prince's ones.

"H-Hi, Prince Noctis." You manage to greet, casting your gaze somewhere else.
Noctis sighs, hearing you say hello to him again, using his prince status name. One thing he wished you'd stop doing was addressing him as Prince Noctis rather than his usual preferred nickname, Noct.

"Hey f-n." He says calmly, mentally thanking Etro that he didn't stutter.

"Come on in. Your desk is the one on the left." You say, pointing towards the desks in the back row. Noctis nods his head in response, and sits in his desk, examining the worksheets scattered messily across the desks.

"S-Sorry about the mess. My parents dropped me off here late." You say, shuffling around the papers in a neat stack.

"It's fine f-n. You need any help?" He asks with an amused smile.

"No need. I'm fine Prince Noctis." You reply.

"f-n, what did I say about calling me that?" His voice filled with displeasure.

"Sorry Pr-Noct." You say, immediately correcting yourself from saying prince.

You hear a loud knock at the door, glancing up from sorting the worksheets.

"I'll get it." Noctis says, heading over to the door. He pulls on the doorknob, his eyes widening at the person standing in front of him.

"P-Prompto, what are you doing here?" Noctis asks.

"What are you doing here Noct?" Prompto asks, pointing an accusing finger at him. You join Noctis, smiling sweetly at Prompto.

"Hey Prompto, ready for your tutoring lesson with me and Noct?" You say.

"Uh, y-yeah." Prompto replies, his cheeks burning red from your adorable smile.

The three of you walk back, sitting yourselves in your desk.

"So, what do you two have trouble doing?" You ask, unsure of how to start the lesson.

The both of them quickly explain what each of them were having trouble with. Prompto was confused with the orders of operation, while Noctis was struggling on how to simplify expressions. You pass them a worksheet made by you, each of the sheets designed specifically for each of them.

Sitting there while they finished the worksheets, your eyes started to wander. You take notice how each of them had their thinking faces on. Prompto was biting lightly onto his bottom lip, his left hand combing over the blonde locks hanging off the side of his face, his pencil quickly jotting down numbers onto the scrap paper. Noctis meanwhile had a calm look on his face, his head propped up by his arm while he twiddled his pencil around, the gears in his brain spinning.

You grab your backpack that you placed underneath your desk and pull out the huge amount of homework given by the teachers. You sigh quietly, grabbing your pen and write an assortment of answers on the paper. Sneakily, two pairs of eyes were watching you. The both of them gained inspiration, seeing you so focused on your homework. Thy worked efficiently, almost finishing their papers at the same time.

"Um, f-n?" You hear Prompto asks. You hum in response, showing that you were listening.

"We finished our papers." He says, sliding over his paper onto your desk. Noctis also slides over his casually.

"Nice job, I'll check them now." You reply, alternating between the answer sheet and their worksheets. After five minutes of awkward silence, you grin slightly.

"Great! You guys both got a 100% on your papers." You tell them encouragingly.

"R-Really?" Noctis asks with surprise.

"Y-Yeah, I don't understand how the teachers think your having trouble in Math." You admit.

"Well, I got head home now. Bye Noct and Prompto!" You say, giving a wave over your shoulder.

"Uh, f-n wait!" You shut the door, not hearing your name being called.

Prompto sighs, rubbing his head annoyed.

"Damn it, I should have asked earlier." He curses.

"Ask her what?" Noctis questions, slinging his backpack over his shoulder.

"I was gonna ask her if she wanted to hang out after this." Prompto answers with dissapointment in his voice.

"You like her don't you?" Noctis asks.

"N-No." Prompto stutters with a light blush, avoiding eye contact with Noctis.
Noctis sighs, "You should ask her out Prompto, she's a really nice girl." he says with a sad smile.

"Maybe I should, later in the year though. I want us to become friends first." Prompto promises, tightening his hand into a fist.

The both of them head out of the room and walk silently down the hall, before hearing a loud clang of metal. They stop in their tracks and tiptoe near the source of the noise, where you were being roughly pushed against a locker, your feet dangling inches from the ground.

"Hey missy, you said yesterday that you would complete my assignments today." The bully reminded.

"I didn't promise to do it." You say, glaring at him.

He tightens his grip on you the collar of your school uniform, applying more pressure against you. You desperately grab onto his wrist, trying to break free. You hear footsteps approach your dangling figure. 'More people who want me to complete their homework?' You mentally say, shutting your eyes tightly. The grip on your collar goes away, your feet falling back onto the ground.

You lean against the locker, seeing an angry blonde-head punching the hell out of the guy. You crawl onto the floor, searching for your glasses. You feel someone grab your hand and place your glasses in it. After adjusting your glasses, you look up to see Noctis giving you a cute smile. His smile turns into a frown as he stands up and starts walking over next to Prompto. He yanks Prompto away from the bully, knocked out on the floor. Prompto growls, resisting Noctis' pulling before gazing at your figure.

He walks over to you slowly and crouches next to you.
Prompto gives a gentle smile, "You alright?"

"Y-Yeah, thanks you two." You say.

"Come on, lets go." Noctis says, helping you stand up.

They would always secretly watch over you, making sure no one else tried to use you. Though these tutoring lessons would only be temporary. You would soon learn in these next few years from reports on the news that the crown city, Insomnia has fallen and Noctis was officially dead. You hoped Prompto wasn't either...
