"You want to know the science of Nadi astrology?" asked Bhadra.

"Yes panditji." said Rudra.

"So, listen carefully. It is little difficult to understand for beginners. If you wish you can jot it down. But first let me introduce you with general beliefs."

Durga took a book from her bag. She opened the cap of the pen and was ready to write the information. Bhadra was touched by the interest they were showing. Very few people had expressed their desire to learn about it. Rudra wasn't sure but he felt he had seen his some glint in his eyes.

" In ancient times, in Shiva loka, Lord Shiva informed Parvati Devi about several people taking birth during this period which the sages like Agastya, Visvamithra, Vasishta, Sukar, Kaushika and few others had seen in meditation on earth."

Durga wanted him to slow down a bit but he had started with so much of enthusiasm that she felt telling him anything could easily be considered his insult. She followed the thing which Akshad had always taught her; you should always debate to prove your point, but, never ever insult anyone. Though she wasn't debating here, she felt that increasing her writing pace was better.

"In the book, there are many stanzas in a chapter. Each stanza consists of four lines with three words in each line. The third word of the fourth line of a stanza is taken as the first word of the first line of next stanza to combine the context. It is quite tough and short but has deep meanings. The details of several people are included in a bundle of Nadi Palm leaves. There are many such bundles. Usually numbers are also used in words. For e.g. 'Veda' means 'Four'.

It was his divine sight or divyadrishti through which Lord Shiva informed about the caste and religion for the clarification of the social state of this period. It was not to approve comparatively the better one among the caste and religion. Before a period of a thousand years, Lord Shiva had informed including the name of caste and religion to clarify how would be the way of living of the people in the present period.

But let me tell you that Lord Shiva didn't encourage caste and religion, yet He had clearly intimated about the existing heinous state."

Durga sighed. It was tiring for her to write so fast and understand his English which was accompanied by heavily accented Telugu. Rudra noticed and promptly signalled her to give the book. But she refused. He shook his head and turned his attention towards Bhadra who seemed little irritated with this gesture games.

"So we will now move on to the science behind it. The basic concept of Nadi astrology is Nadi. Not difficult to guess. There are 150 Nadis in a sign or Rashi. One sign is 30 degrees of zodiac. Twelve signs of zodiac grouped into three categories: Movable or Chara, Fixed or Sthira and Dual or Dvisvsbhava signs."

"Nomenclature of 150 Nādis is peculiar to each of these three types of signs. There are 1800 Nādis in 360 degrees. Numbers and names of Nādis are identical among all four Chara signs. Among all four Sthira signs, Numbers and names of Nādis are identical, but numbering is different from those in Chara and Dvisvabhāva signs. Similarly, numbering of Nādis in all four Dvisvabhāva signs are identical among themselves, but different from Chara or Sthira signs.

For instance, the first Nādi in Chara signs such as Aries is Vasudhā Nādi, but in Sthira sings the order is reversed and Vasudhā is 150th Nādi. In Dvisvabhāva signs such as Gemini, Vasudhā is 76th Nādi; that is, from the middle of 150. Thus, there are 450 distinctive names and numbers in full zodiac. Nādi texts use this concept of Nādi as the basic unit for prediction. That is why they are called "Nādi granthas".

When predictions are based on Nādis in which ascendant and planets are placed, it means the combined results of all sixteen divisional charts are being told. Hence, Nādi Astrology is the most detailed and accurate method."

Moving from science, Bhadra revealed the philosophical aspect of the Nadi Astrology which coincided with fundamental beliefs of all the religions.

"All beings, irrespective of species, nationality, religion, social class, aggressiveness, etc., are controlled by the Navagrahas. The Navagrahas are very sincere in their duties as cosmic public servants and never deviate in performing their duties. They cannot be bribed. They affect individual beings as well as entire societies as per the Karma applicable. The current life path of a person is determined by past Karma. For example, if a person is blessed with wealth in this birth, then it implies this person has done many punyas in his/her previous births and he/she is enjoying the benefits of it in this birth. It is like a person who has saved a lot of punyas in his or her account cashing it in when the need arrives.

Birth, death, rebirth and moksha are all controlled by our karma. Paapams are obstacles that may take long to dilute whereas punyas earned can be 'spent' very soon. From the Hindu point of view, this makes it important that we always think good thoughts and do no harm to any other being."

Bhadra looked at his awed audience. Durga just wanted to listen to him, keeping her pen aside. Rudra hugged him. "Thank you so much. You have helped us a lot."

Just then a woman entered. She looked in her fifties with few strands of grey hair. A simple floral saree, small fresh garland of jasmine flowers, mangalsutra sitting on crook of her neck, made her look like an elegant housewife. Durga looked at her with envy. In a few seconds, she cleared those thoughts.

Don't be stupid Durga. Having a life partner like Indrajeet is better to live your life alone. I am an independent woman, now.

Hello, you haven't received your salary yet.

I didn't say financially independent woman. Matter of two days, I will receive my salary. I won't have to be entirely dependent on Appa's pension.

"Susheela! These are our guests. They came all the way from Mysore to meet me." Bhadra said.

Susheela smiled. "Please sit. I will make coffee for you."

Rudra politely declined the offer. "No Akka, we have to leave as soon as possible."

Smile vanished on her face. She fiercely whispered, "Is it good to leave like this. Panditji helped us a lot. He won't feel nice. For once think logically."

Durga turned towards Susheela, "Akka, please ignore him. Come I will help you."

Rudra felt very bad. That's what I was thinking. He has helped us a lot. We should be leaving.

Think logically.

Now you too?

Suppose someone visits your house, asks some information and then leaves, how will you feel?

I got your point.
